Thursday Forecast

7:29AM

DAYS 1-5 (DECEMBER 17-21)…
Again carrying the same ideas forward. A broad area of low pressure will cross the region today and tonight with episodes of rain. Fair, windy, and cooler weather returns during Friday other than perhaps brief additional rain near Cape Cod from a wave of low pressure on the departing front. The weekend will see windy and colder weather Saturday with perhaps a passing snow shower, and fair but more tranquil though still chilly weather on Sunday. An approaching disturbance may bring some cloudiness at times and milder air for Monday but moisture for that system may be lacking so rain chances will be low.
TODAY: Cloudy. Patchy drizzle. Increasing risk of rain especially midday-afternoon. Highs 48-55. Wind SE 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Cloudy. Periods of rain. Areas of fog. Lows in the 40s. Wind variable 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy start then sun/cloud mix. Clouds and a little rain may hold on over Cape Cod into afternoon. Highs in the 40s. Wind W to NW increasing to 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
SATURDAY: Partly cloudy. Isolated snow showers. Lows in the 20s. Highs in the 30s.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows in the 20s. Highs in the 40s.
MONDAY: Partly sunny. Lows in the 20s. Highs in the 40s.

DAYS 6-10 (DECEMBER 22-26)…
Still like the idea of less amplitude and a little more progression than many models have been showing. Fair December 22. Mild with possible rain December 23 and rain showers December 24. Fair, windy, and cooler December 25. Fair and milder December 26.

DAYS 11-15 (DECEMBER 27-31)…
Risk of unsettled weather December 27 to early December 28 then fair weather returns. Temperatures continue to run above normal.

Saturday Forecast

7:54AM

DAYS 1-5 (DECEMBER 12-16)…
A split weather weekend, today being a day with plenty of sunshine and very mild air, then Sunday being a cooler and cloudy day after a cold front slips down from the north northeast tonight and puts itself southwest of southern New England before coming to a stop. As low pressure then passes north of the region late Monday and early Tuesday, another weather change will take place. First, the front that went by us will struggle to return as a warm front during Monday, but will eventually do so by late day and evening, while at the same time the low’s trailing cold front will push eastward and eventually offshore by early Tuesday. This process will be accompanied by wet weather, but again rain instead of snow as it will be very mild. A gusty wind and a mix of sun and clouds will make it feel somewhat cooler Tuesday. Winds settle down and air will finally feel a little more seasonable by Wednesday, though it will still be milder than the long term average.
TODAY: Areas of fog early. Mostly sunny. Highs 57-64. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Increasing clouds. Patchy fog late. Lows in the 40s. Wind N 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY: Windy with sun/clouds. Temperatures falling through 50s.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 25-35. Highs in the 40s.

DAYS 6-10 (DECEMBER 17-21)…
A progressive trough of low pressure will temporarily change things a little during this period. Mild with a few rain showers possible later on December 17. Isolated rain or snow showers and trending colder December 18. Isolated snow showers and seasonably chilly December 19-20. Fair and cool December 21.

DAYS 11-15 (DECEMBER 22-26)…
Milder December 22 into December 23 with another system producing rain showers at some point. Briefly colder later December 23 to early December 25 with a few rain/snow showers possible later December 23 or early December 24 otherwise dry. Fair and milder at the end of the period.

Friday Forecast

7:24AM

Thursday Forecast

7:26AM

DAYS 1-5 (DECEMBER 10-14)…
5-day mild spell.*
Spotty drizzle and light rain showers this morning and midday from a combination of moisture from the south and a disturbance from the west. Low clouds to start out Friday but a brighter finish. Nice Saturday. *Sunday’s temperatures and cloud cover dependent on the position of a front that tries to push in from the north. Wednesday Forecast

8:39AM

DAYS 1-5 (DECEMBER 9-13)…
An low level inversion (cold air trapped underneath a layer of warm air in the lower atmosphere) will keep a blanket of clouds across much of the region today though there will be areas of less cloudiness with some sunshine. The inversion will get wiped out by an increasing southerly wind tonight/Thursday but still lots of clouds will prevail as the wind carries up moisture from the south. A weak disturbance passing through early in the day Thursday may produce a few light rain showers. The wind turning a little more to the southwest Friday will allow for a sun/cloud mix and a warming trend that will last into the weekend, if not through it. The wildcard is that a bubble of high pressure in Canada may push a front southward on Sunday introducing cooler air and possibly some cloudiness.
TODAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Highs in the 40s. Wind light variable.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Patchy drizzle and fog. Chance of a rain shower overnight. Lows around 40. Wind light S.
THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Chance of a few rain showers early. Highs around 50. Wind S 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY: Partly cloudy. Lows 35-45. Highs in the 50s.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows in the 30s. Highs in the 50s.
SUNDAY: Variably cloudy. Lows in the 30s. Highs in the 50s.

DAYS 6-10 (DECEMBER 14-18)…
A storm will track to the north of the region pulling up warm air and causing wet weather December 14. Fair and cooler December 15-16 but temperatures still above normal. Additional rain showers December 17 followed by drying weather December 18 as the milder than average regime goes on.

DAYS 11-15 (DECEMBER 19-23)…
One or two disturbances may produce some unsettled weather early to mid period though odds favor rain over snow. A colder and drier trend toward the end of the period but no major cold.

Tuesday Forecast

12:05PM (EDITED for discussion 8:00PM)

DAYS 1-5 (DECEMBER 8-12)…
Low pressure intensifies well offshore but sends a little light rain into southeastern MA today. A low level inversion will trap some cloudiness in the region Wednesday though there will be areas of sun as well. A developing southerly wind ahead of an approaching trough will warm it up on Thursday but there may be a few light rain showers. A broad but weak high pressure ridge will bring fair and mild weather for the end of the week.
TODAY: Mostly cloudy. Some light rain southeastern MA. Patchy drizzle elsewhere. Highs in the 40s. Wind light N to NE.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the 30s. Wind light variable.

Mild and mostly dry weather, though it may turn a little colder by the end of the period.

Monday Forecast

7:37AM

DAYS 1-5 (DECEMBER 7-11)…
High pressure weakly hangs on today with fair and mild weather. Low pressure south of the region on Tuesday will result in lots of clouds and maybe a little rain near the South Coast and Cape Cod. Cloudiness lingers Wednesday between that and a weak system approaching from the west, which may bring a few rain showers but otherwise continue the theme of more cloudiness during Thursday. Improvement is expected Friday as that system moves away and high pressure moves in.
TODAY: Partly sunny. Highs in the 50s. Wind light variable.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the 30s. Wind light E.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of a light rain for a while mainly South Coast / Cape Cod. Highs in the 40s.
WEDNESDAY: Variably cloudy. Lows in the 30s. Highs in the 40s.
THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy. Possible rain showers. Lows in the 30s. Highs 45-55.

Sunday Forecast

8:23AM

Welcome to the cheap edition of my blog today – basically a copy of yesterday’s with yesterday’s forecast eliminated, Thursday’s forecast added, and a few tweaks made elsewhere. Perhaps it’s poor advertising to admit that, but I’m about the truth, and the weather pattern is just that quiet. 🙂

DAYS 1-5 (DECEMBER 6-10)…
High pressure dominates through Monday with fair and mild weather. Low pressure to the south of the region is expected to be close enough for cloudiness and perhaps a little wet weather near the South Coast Tuesday but not close enough for widepsread wet weather. We’ll be in between systems Wednesday and then another disturbance may cause a few rain showers around on Thursday as it remains mild.
TODAY: Sunny. Highs 55-62. Wind light SW.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Areas of frost. Lows 25-30 interior valleys, 30s elsewhere. Wind light SW.
MONDAY: Partly sunny. Lows in the 30s. Highs in the 50s.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of a light rain for a while mainly South Coast / Cape Cod. Lows in the 30s. Highs in the 40s.
WEDNESDAY: Variably cloudy. Lows in the 30s. Highs in the 40s.
THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy. Possible rain showers. Lows in the 30s. Highs 45-55.

DAYS 6-10 (DECEMBER 11-15)…
Generally rain-free, probably not cloud-free, but mild to very mild December 11-12. Continued mild and an increasing chance of rain showers December 13-14. Current timing suggest drier and cooler December 15.

DAYS 11-15 (DECEMBER 16-20)…
One or two weak systems may bring a few rain or snow showers depending on timing, otherwise a continuation of the dry and mild pattern will go on. May turn colder very end of period.

Saturday Forecast

2:51AM

DAYS 1-5 (DECEMBER 5-9)…
High pressure dominates through Monday with fair and mild weather. Low pressure to the south of the region is expected to be close enough for cloudiness but not close enough for wet weather as we head into the middle of next week.
TODAY: Sunny. Highs 48-55. Wind light W.
TONIGHT: Clear. Areas of frost and ground fog. Lows 25-30 interior valleys, 30-35 elsewhere. Calm wind.
SUNDAY: Sunny. Highs 55-62. Wind light SW.
MONDAY: Partly sunny. Lows in the 30s. Highs in the 50s.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the 30s. Highs in the 40s.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the 30s. Highs in the 40s.

DAYS 6-10 (DECEMBER 10-14)…
Watch for a weak weather system to bring a risk of rain showers around December 12, otherwise generally dry weather and above normal temperatures will dominate.

DAYS 11-15 (DECEMBER 15-19)…
One or two weak systems may bring a rain or snow shower depending on timing, otherwise a continuation of the dry and mild pattern will go on.

Friday Forecast

7:32AM

DAYS 1-5 (DECEMBER 4-8)…
High pressure builds in today and sits over the region much of the weekend before sinking to the south and drifting away eventually during early next week. This will result in day weather and above normal temperatures for much of if not all of this 5-day period. Next Tuesday we’ll be watching possible low pressure approaching from the southwest, but it’s too far away to be sure if this will have an impact.
TODAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Highs 43-48. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy to mostly clear. Lows in the 20s. Wind light W.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 48-53. Wind light variable.
SUNDAY: Sunny. Lows in the 30s. Highs in the 50s.
MONDAY: Sunny. Lows in the 30s. Highs in the 50s.
TUESDAY: Increasing clouds. Lows in the 30s. Highs 45-55.

DAYS 6-10 (DECEMBER 9-13)…
Unsettled weather possible December 9 depending on the track of low pressure near the East Coast. Another round of unsettled weather is possible later in the period. Otherwise fair weather dominates overall with temperatures above normal.

DAYS 11-15 (DECEMBER 14-18)…
Mainly dry weather and above normal temperatures will remain dominant.

Thursday Forecast

3:34AM

DAYS 1-5 (DECEMBER 3-7)…
Low pressure pulls away through the Gulf of Maine into the Canadian Maritimes today while intensifying. The air flow between this deepening storm and approaching high pressure from the west will cause increasing wind. After any early showers exit Cape Cod, dry air will overtake the region, and though clouds may hang around for a while in the morning, sun will become dominant during the afternoon. Relatively cool air will move in and peak Friday as high pressure builds in, but this high will move overhead and then sink to the south during the weekend, resulting in fair weather with a warming trend. A weak disturbance will bring some clouds by Monday.
TODAY: Early morning areas of dense fog reducing visibility but fog dissipating by mid morning. Variably cloudy this morning including a chance of rain showers early morning across Cape Cod. Partly cloudy to mostly sunny this afternoon. Morning highs around 50 then cooling into the 40s. Wind W increasing to 15-25 MPH with gusts above 30 MPH.
TONIGHT: Clear. Lows in the 30s. Wind W 10-20 MPH and gusty.
FRIDAY: Sunny. Highs in the 40s. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Sunny. Lows 25-35. Highs 45-55.
SUNDAY: Sunny. Lows 35-45. Highs 55-65.
MONDAY: Partly sunny. Lows 35-45. Highs in the 50s.

DAYS 6-10 (DECEMBER 8-12)…
Watching a potential for unsettled weather, likely rain, from late December 8 to early December 10. Another system may bring more unsettled weather at the end of the period. Temperatures above normal.

DAYS 11-15 (DECEMBER 13-17)…
Unsettled weather early in the period then mainly dry weather returns. Temperatures above normal.
