  1. Hard to say how much fell in Marblehead since it was compacting all night, but I would say 2.5″ fell. Would have been if that dry slot didn’t set up after midnight.

  2. Hi all- the cape codder just got power back. They lost it at 5am this morning. The wind here was unreal. As I suspected no snow here on the cape. My neighbor was here to, he left this morning. He called and all is fine. Little snow, like a trace he said in Pembroke.
I also did not think boston would see much snow, I had said no more than 2inches. That was just my thinking. I am going to check to see what logan came in at. For the people who got the snow that is great, it must of been so weird.

  3. In JP,
After a 3 hour period of mixing and then flipping back and forth, it stayed all snow from about 7PM onward. The problem is, there was NO intensity for the rest
of the storm. I hit the hay around 1AM and just got up, so some has melted. I’d guess about a total of 2 inches. Hadi, What’s your take, maybe you were up earlier?

    1. Hi Old Salty. I was thinking your power had gone out since you hadn’t posted. Good to know all is ok and you got to enjoy some snow. Haven’t seen several others on here. Could be doing cleanup or regular Sunday things. Still no power here so wonder if Rainshine is out too. Will have to go to an B for game thus afternoon

  4. TK, as usual, I do have a question. Todd on BZ this am and on this blog people have alluded to some onslaught early in the winter. I know you have indicated at least milder conditions for early November. I am wondering if you could bring out your meteorological crystal ball ( and don’t try to fool me, I know you have one) and give us your thinking about the probability of early winter snow storms.

    1. The pattern (based on the regime of long term climate indicies including ENSO, and the solar cycle) points to above normal snow and below normal temps in late November through mid January, then a mild stretch thereafter that may still contain above normal snow (at least February).

  5. No snow accumulation here in Hingham in fact when I woke up around 4 am it was back to rain here. Strong winds also never really materialized on the back side of the storm. Everything is drying out nicely here. A lot of the trees in the area lost a lot of foliage and what is left is still green. Hope everyone recovers quickly (power, etc).

  6. OSi wad up around 7 and would say at most 2.5 inches. Still breezy here. Good thing about my part of JP is all the power lines are underground. Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

  7. Vicki – we never lost power but the lights have been flickering since last evening into this morning. We did lose our cable and internet up until a few hrs. ago. Sorry you still don’t have lights. I spoke to my mother in Framingham this morning and they lost power for about 1/2 hr. in the middle of the night. She lives right near Framingham State college. I hope you get power soon.

In Sudbury we got about 6 inches of heavy, wet, pasty snow. I never heard any thunder but around 9:30 p.m. I heard some strange cracking noises. Couldn’t tell if they were inside or out – almost sounded like it was from inside. This morning we saw that a tree in front of our home cracked in 3 pieces. That must have been the noise I heard. It’s gotten windy and the sky is pretty w/white puffs of cloud moving fast from north to south – almost north to southwest.

  8. Does anyone know what the total liquid was for Logan?

I’m guessing LESS than 1 inch.

How could the models be off by so much? Both the GFS and NAM had us
    close to 2 inches.

  9. Just curious what people recorded or saw as a high temp in their hometown so far today. Newton = 42F

  10. We are driving from Framingham to uxbridge. Only nstar truck we’ve seen was being towed. Lots of pockets with no power. Gentleman at gas station said he’s from northboro and thought damage there was far worse than Irene

    1. It must be strange out there Vicki. Just tracking this storm and seeing a dusting of snow has me mentally in winter and sometime in December. I have to keep reminding myself that tomorrow night is Halloween.

      1. Yes it is Tom. And we have not bought any candy yet. cold here on the cape. Tom will you be sticking with your snowfall numbers LOL.

        1. 🙂 My goodness, a couple of towns already have more than 27 inches, but not good ole Logan by the warm sea.

  11. Just made the biggest October snowman I’ve ever made (sure beats the one we made on 10-18-2009). Those of you that know me on FB can see pics there soon. 🙂

    1. Framingham just did reverse 911 said could be days. 5000 out in town. And not one nstar truck to be found 🙂
