Nice November Weekend

7:48PM

No complaints this weekend! High pressure slides eastward just south of New England, but with enough influence to provide us with a nice weekend in the Boston area – a cool start Saturday, a seasonable day overall, and turning milder Sunday, a good deal of sun both days but also some middle clouds crossing the northern sky Saturday and some high clouds filtering the sun at times Sunday.

Indian Summer makes a comeback to start next week with temperatures cracking 60 both Monday and Tuesday. Additional clouds are expected, and a few showers are possible Monday, followed by a greater chance of showers later Tuesday.

Midweek rain? Maybe? Maybe not? I’m really not sure how this plays out yet. If a cold front moving through Tuesday night continues to move eastward on Wednesday, we clear out. If it bogs down on the coast, it develops a low pressure wave, holding clouds and rain in for Wednesday. Stay tuned as this part of the forecast is not clear to me.

Late next week looks dry and chilly.

  1. At its warmest point, October was more than 6F above normal at Logan. By Wednesday of this week, it will be interesting to see what the November temp anomoly is at Logan……..I cant help notice all of the early season rain in far southern California.

  2. The west has turned stormy while its mild in the east. As for the regime change I am thinking early December. Time to take advantage of this great weekend to get a round of golf in and rake some leaves.

    1. Good luck with the golf game JJ ! I havent played a round in a long time, but do enjoy visiting the golfing range and hitting away.

I dont know about this December cold….Peaked at the latest CPC NAO forecast. If one looks at the forecast charts versus what actually occurred (the dark line), the NAO has consistently been more positive than forecasted the last few months. Also, on environmental Canada temp anomolies, the whole northern Hemisphere is setting up into a pattern that looks pretty stable. Eastern Russia is below normal, Western Alaska is above normal, Eastern alaska southward into the western US is below normal, the east coast US is above normal, the central atlantic is below normal, and western Europe is above normal…..Trof, ridge, trof, ridge, trof, ridge and everyone of them seems to be in the exact opposite spot of where they were last autumn at this time.

  3. Hey Tom… The golf game went well. Its so nice to be able to get out there and enjoy this nice weather while we have it. Tomorrow it is raking leaves and hopefully not too many more times after that.
