Thursday February 25 2021 Forecast (7:39AM)

DAYS 1-5 (FEBRUARY 25 – MARCH 1)

The wind is in, but the cold is not too bad, in fact today’s temperatures will start out above normal with respect to morning lows and end up right around normal as far as daytime highs would go – in other words, they will remain fairly steady. But it will be a dry day with passing clouds interrupting the sun. Colder air arrives tonight behind a secondary trough of low pressure and then high pressure builds in for a cold but dry and more tranquil day Friday. Systems are on the move quickly and Saturday will turn out unsettled as the first of two low pressure areas make a run at us, passing to the northwest for mainly a rain situation but not a big storm. The second low looks weaker and further south and is going to be more of a cloud producer for Sunday, which will not be a bad day. A little bit of rainfall may take place as we flip the calendar from February to March Sunday night / early Monday, and an additional rain shower may visit the region to start the day Monday before we see the wind pick up and the temperature go down, especially when a secondary cold front arrives later in the day or Monday evening with a snow shower threat…

TODAY: Sun and passing clouds. Temperatures steady 37-44. Wind NW 15-25 MPH and gusty morning, 10-20 MPH afternoon.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy early then clearing. Lows 18-25. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 30-37. Wind W up to 10 MPH.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Increasing clouds. Lows 23-30. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy. Periods of rain, may start as sleet and/or snow. higher elevations north and west. Highs 40-47. Wind variable up to 10 MPH becoming S 5-15 MPH.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy evening with rain ending. Partly cloudy with patchy fog overnight. Lows 33-40. Wind W up to 10 MPH.

SUNDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 45-52. Wind W 5-15 MPH becoming variable.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Chance of light rain. Lows 38-45. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

MONDAY: Variably cloudy with a chance of rain showers in the morning. Partly sunny in the afternoon with a chance of late-day or evening snow showers. Temperatures steady 38-45 early then falling later in the day. Wind W increasing to 10-20 MPH with higher gusts shifting to NW late.

DAYS 6-10 (MARCH 2-6)

Short-lived but sharp shot of cold air March 2 with dry/windy weather. Moderating temperatures, fair & breezy conditions for March 3 with a westerly air flow. Watching for some unsettled weather for at least a brief period around March 4 and again at the end of the period, but low confidence on the outlook as we go out in time.

DAYS 11-15 (MARCH 7-11)

General westerly flow, but variable pattern as we again will have to watch several disturbances and run the risk of some significant temperature swings.

  1. Good morning and thank you TK.

    More ho-hun weather….

So far, nothing down the road gets me excited, but always subject to change.,,

    1. Woke up at 3:30 this morning by wind that rattled the house, as we had gusts up to 40mph, and the most random thought came into my head at that moment –
We are 2 weeks away from Dave’s least favorite day of the year – model runs delayed by an hour day.

      1. If you actually had that thought, that is pretty weird.
Sure, I don’t like the model runs delayed by an hour, but I do adjust.

Least favorite day of the year? I am afraid at my age, my least favorite day is MY BIRTHDAY!! Each one of those that passes, brings me that much closer to my demise and the eternal dirt nap. I have already lived 80-90% of my life and for all I know, 99% of it. Each day I wake up, I say, well I’m still here. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We could get into a big discussion about what happens when one dies. Many believe in an after life of some sort.
Some believe that there is some sort
of energy within us, call it a soul if you like, and scientifically energy cannot be destroyed thus one can never really die and that energy has to go some place. While we are alive we will never know!

The way I look it is is, Either there is nothing and one ceases to exist or there is something so why worry about it.

btw, I do NOT believe there is such a place as HELL.
If there is we’re all here right now.

So much for my diabolical rant of the day.

When the bleep is it going to snow again?

48 the other day and 52 today. At midnight last night
it was still 46!!!!! still 42 now.

        1. Wow that took a turn, but yes, I do get what you are saying about each passing day, bringing us closer to a passing…

And for the record, that random thought about you and model times totally entered my head.

          1. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Hey, I would hate to post some of the random thoughts
that pop into my mind. I think they would be sending for the men in white coats.

Our brains are pretty powerful, that’s for sure! Some more than others.

        2. I have never believed there is a hell. You are one of the few I have heard say the same. I definitely believe there is something more. We have too many signs …even the littlest kids have them….for me to doubt that. My oldest grand has adhd and touches on the spectrum. He is an old soul and has an intuitive approach to things that is innate. Our brains sure are powerful yet we use so little of what they are capable of. I’ve always believe that folks perceived as thinking differently are actually using either more of or a different part of the brain and perhaps see things far more clearly than most people.

I’ll stop now πŸ™‚ You touched on a topic I have always been fascinated by so couldn’t help myself. Not that I don’t usually just say what I’m thinking πŸ˜‰

  2. Thank you, TK.

Of course there will be weather on March 4 – that’s when my appointment is.

Wind was wild here last night also.

    1. GFSv16 has something around the SE coast at the same time.

There has been some support on the EPS for a -NAO and neutral to slightly positive PNA around that time so maybe there is some support for something.

Definitely not an overly strong signal or lengthy window of opportunity there though. In general I agree with Dave, looks like a fairly boring stretch of weather ahead.

  3. Thanks, TK…

Nice to crack the windows in the classroom!

Trying to get vaccination appointments for Mrs. Fantastic and her sisters this morning.

At 7:53 this morning, I was 59,633rd in queue.

At one point, my wait time was 39,725 minutes.

Needless to say, I struck out.

    1. Yikes I’m hearing reports of 300 minutes but that is nuts. I did find it was better to check each individual site. Is Milford hospital too far? This is one it seems folks are having trouble with

Also someone gave this to me for CVS just a bit ago

    1. Sorry I know this is not weather related so hope it is ok. Someone posting the same for Milford yesterday is how I got an appt. Paying it forward.

And on a positive note. Now that grandson has snow layer off of my fire bowl, I was delighted that it actually started.

  4. Thank you, TK.

Today felt like late February, early March.

Love the discussion of the hereafter and hell; especially enjoyed reading JPD and Vicki’s perspectives.

I’m 56 and every day I wake up I’m amazed I’m still here. Why? Because I do fear dying. May explain why I wake up so much at night. Just to make sure I’m here!

Don’t believe in a hereafter or hell. But respect those that do, and I do like the concept of heaven, if only to get a better view of what’s going on meteorologically on earth.

  5. Vicki, happy to know you got a vaccine appointment in Milford. That’s where I got my driver’s license nearly 40 years ago. It was snowing that day, lightly, in December.

Captain, 39,725 minutes is almost 4 weeks.

A friend of mine wrote that his wait time was 6,750 minutes, and the notice included two sentences which in hindsight are kind of funny: 1. “Thank you for your patience.” 2. “Use the wait time to collect your health insurance information.”

    1. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Milford, eh? Where did you reside at the time?

I am most familiar with Milford. Never lived there, but my sister did for awhile. Used to take the bus from Millis to the movie theatre in town. There used to be 2 of them. πŸ™‚

      1. Milford driving test w/ Milford police officer occurred because I couldn’t get a driving test closer to home (Brookline). It was December 1982 and I was home for the holidays – I lived and went to high school in the Netherlands at the time – and I desperately wanted a driver’s license. Called around for a test to no avail, except in Milford. I had learned to drive in a Volvo station wagon 4-speed manual. But, the police officer told me I could only do my test in an automatic. So, I drove in a police cruiser – I think it was a Ford Ltd. Luckily, my mother had not only taught me how to drive the manual, but also rented a car to teach me how to drive a go-cart (automatic). I still consider automatics to be go-carts. I won’t drive them unless absolutely necessary. I need to have something to do, and more control over the vehicle.

When I did my test we had just experienced a cold snap. There was some light snow, but it didn’t impede the test.

        1. Awesome story. Mac and his family also agree re standards I raced a standard Mach I. I had my test on dec 1 in snow also. My dad had a tbird. We had to stop on a hill, use emergency brake and then release break to proceed to a three point turn. Problem was emergency brakes in Tbirds had automatic releases so o has to hold it down by force.

      2. I wondered also. We moved from Boston Dana to Milford Dana satellite for Mac. It is also where I went for group grief counseling.

    1. Time for your number 2 team to be elevated to number 1! 3 of the 4 Bruins regulation losses this season are against the Islanders. Not a good homecoming for Halak πŸ™‚

      1. They have the Bruins # this season as the Bruins have Philly’s #. Funny how that works. πŸ™‚

        1. I believe the Bruins had beat the islanders 9 out of the last 10 games before this season. What a difference a season makes.

Top 5 teams in the eastern conference are now all 3 points apart. Toughest conference in the league for sure. There are going to be a few very good teams not making the playoffs this year.

          1. Yes indeed. I do like this format for the reason that it gives the old school Original Six kind of feel.

  6. Is the GFS ever persistent in that arctic shot for Tuesday.
It’s the most consistency I’ve seen for a single day on any model the entire winter. The GFS is also not all that excited about any lasting warm-ups at least for the first half of March….
