    1. It went. Well? not so much. She got quite sick within 10 minutes. After about 10 PM she felt a little better. These shots are really rough on some people. We’ll see how it goes today.
      Thank you.

      1. Oh my, OS. Did the nurses clear her to come home? Hopefully, Mrs OS can just rest and hydrate for a few days. Please give her a hug from me

        1. After 1/2 hour she was cleared to go home and then she got sick again when we got home. She finished 2 16 oz
bottles of water. She felt a little better by 10PM.

          thank you.

          1. Wow. How awesome is she. It is really hard to drink when you feel sick. I don’t know if she can have Gatorade, but I’ve been mixing half a small bottle with water a couple times a day since I had the shot and it seems to make a difference.

            1. I meant to tell you that both my girls asked me first thing if I’d heard how Mrs OS did. I’ll pass this news along to them also

            2. Nope no can do Gatorade. too much shit in it containing sulfites.

She will have to stay hydrated with water.

  1. Dr, how are you.

JJ, good luck today.. SClarke, I think you got your second moderna yesterday. How are you feeling

    1. Thanks for asking Vicki. I got the second Moderna around noon yesterday. The timing was good, as I started to feel some minor effects at bedtime. I took Tylenol and had a good sleep. This morning, I feel almost normal except a bit tired. It feels good to have this over with.

  2. Hope your wife recovers well today, JPD. I’m sorry about all the stress you and she are going through.

Others on WHW who are getting or got doses, good luck.

Vicki, to answer you question on the UK. It instituted the strictest lockdown in Europe 4 months ago, and that was only lifted 2 weeks ago. The combination of severe restrictions and vaccinations pretty much vanquished the virus. UK’s case numbers are now very low, and hospitalizations and deaths even lower. Israel also instituted a lengthy lockdown, but not as strict as the UK. Its policy of mitigation and extraordinarily efficient vaccination obliterated the virus.

Our numbers are improving, but per usual it’s a very gradual improvement with fits and starts. In part, this is a function of our decentralized and very diverse country. We’ve also opted for a strong vaccination campaign with a little seasoning of haphazard mitigation.

    1. Thank you, Joshua. I was hoping you were going to say they had relied more on vaccines than restrictions. I fully understand we are decentralized and diverse. But neither of those should translate to foolish.

        1. We do need more vaccinated. And we need to stop loosening restrictions when the numbers are getting better but clearly are struggling to do so

  3. Thanks for the update JpDave. I was wondering how things had gone for your wife.

Glad to hear things got better some, later in the evening.

Hoping she has a good day !

  4. Thank you Vicki. I just want to get this over with and hoping and praying for just a sore arm and fatigue.

  5. Walk-in vaccinations sites are now opening up. A month ago I would have been thrilled but I believe it’s more due to recent vaccine hesitancy and supply outweighing demand.

  6. Vicki, I have not read about the swollen lymph nodes after being vaccinated if one has a prior coronavirus infection. This is what you asked, correct?

Israel is taking the variants of concern very seriously, so much so that they’re requiring a government-supervised hotel stay for travelers from a growing list of countries.

Israeli Health Ministry: travelers returning from Ukraine, Ethiopia, Brazil, South Africa, India, Mexico and Turkey will enter compulsory supervised hotel isolation upon their return, even if they have been vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19.

  7. Interesting development (I wonder if the U.S. federal government knows something we don’t):

Yesterday it was announced that all American citizens in India have been instructed to return home immediately. As of yet there has been no flight ban.

By the way, there are 14 direct daily flights between India and the U.S. and other services that connect through Europe.

  8. Globally, yesterday, the most deaths were recorded – 15,301 – since January 28th. Deaths are falling across Europe, albeit gradually (except UK where the drop is precipitous). Deaths are falling gradually in North America – well, besides Canada (but even there it appears the crisis is past peak). Deaths are also falling in South America, but from a very high peak. Deaths are increasing in Asia.

  9. JPD, How is Mrs. OS today. I saw your comment re gatorade. We do not normally use it, but in this case, short term it work. But I sure understand why Mrs. OS Cannot use it. Oddly, even pedialite for kids has sulfites and it is for infants and up.

SClarke, how are you feeling today? Longshot? Didn’t you say you had a vaccine? I am losing track and apologize if not and if I missed anyone. Just hoping all are ok!
