  1. Thanks TK.

Dr. Fauci sees “normalcy” ahead. Can’t come soon enough for me, that’s for sure.

    Positivity rate = 11.72%

      1. I like it also. But does Fauci see the BA-2….is that the correct name? We tend not to see things in other countries until weeks after they arrive here

  2. Just an FYI for all in case this happens to you.

I downloaded my electronic vax record from the state site, only to discover it was incorrect. The site advised me to contact my PCP to correct the problem, but found that my doctor could not really help.

Also you cannot correct it online. Eventually I had to print the “MDPH Clinical Immunization Record Amendment Request Form” which you can get online. It has to be filled out and mailed in. My vax record did get corrected within 7 days.

    1. Not so,

My wife’s record wasn’t even available. There is way to submit a correction on line. I had to take photos of her CDC vaccine card and her license and complete all of the pertinent information and submit it. It took 2 tries, but we got it done.

This link should take care of it

      1. A real pain. Fortunately, my healthcare provider (BWH) has a portal I can go to. All I do is put in my username and password then go to *Covid-19* and show my vaccination record on my phone. I also can go “old school” and show my CDC card. I even have a plastic container for it I got from CVS at the counter for $1.99 which I always keep inside my coat pocket.

        1. See above…the portal isn’t always accurate either. But IIRC you had all of yours at Brigham so yours should be fine. Actually, I need to see if my flu shot is in the portal

  3. A number of Boston restaurants are already losing business to the suburbs that do not have vaccine passports. Expect more restaurants to close permanently if the mandate doesn’t end soon, but it is unlikely that Mayor Wu will do so for quite some time.

      1. The only location outside of Boston that has vaccine passports that I know for certain is Brookline. I don’t believe Somerville has one. Don’t know about Cambridge.

I suspect that Boston restaurants that rely heavily on “out-of-towners” (tourists) are going to be hit hard. I believe it’s only New England with the highest vaccination rates in the entire U.S.

        1. Apparently the vaccine mandate for restaurants is not always implemented in NYC. Sarah Palin is an outspoken vaccine critic. Has not been vaccinated. Just got Covid-19. She dined at a NYC restaurant a few days ago.

Cambridge has a vaccine mandate in restaurants, too, Philip. Like you, I just carry around my vaccine card. I don’t own a smartphone anyway. Soon I won’t even have an operable cellphone, as 3G is being dropped so my very old flip-phone will no longer work. Since I rarely use the thing, I won’t miss it. Verizon keeps sending me insistent texts – to the point of harassment – saying I must get a new phone to “enjoy” 5G. Yes, and that would mean going from my current $5 a month plan to some exorbitant monthly fee plus the cost of a phone for something I hardly ever use. No thanks.

          1. Sprint/T-Mobile dropped their 3G/4G on New Years Day, so I had no choice but to go to 5G. I love it!!! Waaaay faster!!! 🙂

            1. It’s up to you Joshua but not having a cellphone or smartphone is like not having a television set even in the 1960s. There must be some cheap plans out there.

        2. We have mandates popping up out here in a few towns. Remember, there is a reverse effect too. I know many who will only go to restaurants and supermarkets, etc that have a mandate

    1. I intend to dine in restaurants in cities/towns with vaccine passport requirements so that I can feel safer. I live in Quincy, so I only need to head north a short distance…

      1. Oops. Didn’t see your post before my comment. We have switched to the supermarket here that has a mandate.

Also, many ….and I mean many….restaurants our this way have had to close because of employees with covid.

  4. Philip, I do have a landline telephone and use it for work and calls with family and friends. I just have no real use for a cellphone. If I am outside the apartment I don’t want to be bothered by any electronic or battery-powered device.

    1. Actually, I only give out my landline number. If anyone needs me and I’m out, they can just leave a message. I only give out my cell number very rarely.

    2. I absolutely love this and am jealous! I held out for years believing a smart phone would increase my stress and decrease my quality of life. Unfortunately I was absolutely right as for the past 5 years I have become increasingly tethered to my iphone.

  5. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/brigham-and-womens-hospital-boston-refusing-heart-transplant-man-wont-get-vaccinated/?fbclid=IwAR0NTXj1DloID7uoo6VX7dGrG_s7ltHSM8U1tfGJJnzNiI0DZzrJjz7sLKY

I been saying for a while, we need to start making real incentives to get vaccinated. One of those ways is with Organ transplants. Which if you are not vaccinated you are going to be taken off the list at many hospitals.
This is a good first step, next is making those that are unvaccinated pay for the treatment if they are hospitalized and prioritize those who have been vaccinated prior to those who have done all they can to protect themselves and still ended up with it.
As someone who has a Dad running the covid testing sites for MGH and many friends that work in hospitals, I have lost all my patience and sympathy for the unvaccinated and anti-vacs people. I feel real bad for those who medically cannot get vaccinated but if you are medically able to get vaccinated, you should get it. The unvaccinated has a choice of not getting it but don’t be upset when that choice impacts the person in a negative way.

    1. The patient is sticking to his guns and won’t get vaccinated even if death is the final option. Very sad indeed.
