  1. Joshua, I’m sorry to hear you are COVID positive after all the care you’ve taken. I read somewhere that by March, 50% of people will have been infected with Omicron.

A friend of mine was just diagnosed with lung cancer which has us thinking about our own mortality. My condolences on the sad news you’ve shared about your friends whose lives are ending too early.

Regarding your cell phone dilemma, here is a list of basic cell phones that might work for you. Note that “senior” refers to over 55. I’m 57 so allowed to send this…

The first phone in the list, the Alcatel Go Flip 4, can be used with WhatsApp which provides free international texting. That’s good for staying in touch with family and friends around the world.

It’s good to have a cell phone for just in case…

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

    1. Thank you so much, Amy. The list of senior cell phones is helpful. I’m 57, so I guess that makes me a senior, which is fine.

I’m sorry to hear that a friend of yours was diagnosed with lung cancer recently.

Yes, this has been a difficult week. Cancer, ALS, and other life-threatening diseases are just so awful. Regarding Michael, I found out some good news. Not about his terminal condition, but that he’s still conscious and has reunited with his son and daughter at the hospital. They are taking him home today to Watertown where they will take care of him in his final days. Michael had been estranged from his son and daughter after a bitter divorce. But, we (his friends) all pushed hard this week for there to be reconciliation. It hasn’t been easy. There’s a lot of stubbornness in the family. Yet, it worked. I am very glad it did. Michael also found out he has grandchildren who he is seeing today.

  2. I’m recovering slowly. Still a mighty and persistent cough, rough throat but less sore, low-grade headache, and some fatigue. It hit me. But, I’ll be fine. My daughter likes my smoker’s voice. I kind of think it’s cool, too. I’ve always thought that smokers make good radio announcers. This is NOT an endorsement of smoking, folks!

The nation’s death toll keeps rising, however, with the 7-day average now well over 2,500, and 4 straight days of more than 3,000 deaths. I think today will be over 3,000, too.

  3. As you know, I’m an independent contractor – healthcare analyst. I work with multiple entities. I’m noticing that increasingly these entities are requiring proofs of vaccination. Mind you, I only interact with these entities online and by phone. Even pre-Covid that was almost always the case. I do find this a little odd, especially in light of the Supreme Court case. I’m not opposed to vaccine mandates. But for someone like myself it wouldn’t seem to matter at all whether I am vaccinated.

  4. Maybe this explains the proofs of vaccination (and negative tests): Omicron subvariant BA.2 appears to have a substantial growth advantage over BA.1, U.K. health agency declares.

Pretty incredible that BA.2 has a substantial growth advantage over BA.2. I wasn’t entirely kidding the other day when I said that coronavirus will soon be transmissible by way of a Zoom call.

  5. More than 3,800 reported Covid deaths today. The total number of deaths is over 900,000. 50% of these deaths occurred after February 1, 2021, when vaccines were widely available for high-risk individuals.

  6. Joshua, I am really happy to hear you are moving in the right direction. I don’t need to tell you to rest, but sure hope you can.

So glad to hear your friend reunited with his children.

Prayers and positive thoughts to you and all your friends and family

  7. Macs brother and wife have classic covid symptoms that are identical to my sons but no fever. Yer they are testing negative with home tests. Could that be because the viral load is in the throat and not nose? Their symptoms started within a day of each other. Slight sore throat, extremely tired and basically Improved in two/three days. But they have idea where they were exposed. And they are beyond cautious …both fully vaccinated …3.

My niece and her three year old have covid. They did test positive. Neither is vaccinated. They have identical symptoms to My BIL and his wife. And again no clue where they were exposed

BIL wondered if it could be BA.2 as it is snowing up in waste water in Bay Area CA. Does that have a history of not showing up on home tests.
