  1. Thanks TK.

Covid-19 wastewater levels are rising north and south of the city of Boston due to the BA.2 variant with the sharpest increases in Middlesex and Essex Counties.

The north has increased 85% and to the south a 61% increase.

  2. My oldest grands (15 in June and 13) get their boosters today. Both sets of parents waited the recommended eight weeks. The concern is more for the older. He has had problems with other vaccine types and is at the age of concern…especially for males.

  3. Shanghai – city of 26 million – is in a Chinese-style lockdown indefinitely, meaning all residents must remain in their homes. Everything is closed, except essential services and even these are restricted. We never had a lockdown like this. Not even remotely close. I’m not in favor of lockdowns that confine people to their homes. Also, China made a big mistake by not importing American and European vaccines. The Chinese vaccine is inferior. Images of the Shanghai lockdown are similar to Wuhan (January 2020). https://twitter.com/CBSEveningNews/status/1509213867670482947

England’s hospital admissions are rising steadily. I’m not looking at cases there as much as hospitalizations. The weather there has turned back to its norm. Actually colder than normal, with rain and even some wet snow. That’s not going to help matters. Similarly, in the Netherlands and other countries a Spring cold snap (not as cold as it got here) with rain and some snow in the interior will prolong the BA.2 wave.

    1. Ugh on England. I am not completely in favor of lockdowns either. Although, it worked in Chile. I think China is alternating closing of the east and west side ….divided by the river….but I’m not sure why not do all at once

    2. Based on Joshua’s recent trip to England, I was quite surprised that masks are not mandatory on public transit including the airlines.

Joshua, are wastewater levels the best measurement of Covid-19 amongst the population?

      1. Right now, yes. Wastewater isn’t subject to the whims of government – opening and closing of test sites.
