  1. The Neil Diamond musical at the Emerson Theatre has been cancelled due to Covid amongst the cast.

  2. Covid fallout: `Discretionary’ spending at insurance and drug companies is way down. They’re no longer doing policy research or objective analyses of data that isn’t related to commercialization. Now it’s all sales and marketing, all the time. Express Scripts, for example, is one of the nation’s largest pharmacy benefit managers. It produced an excellent objective trends report every year, with important information on drug prices, utilization, rebates, new approvals and their clinical effectiveness, etc … I know people on the team who produced the report. They’ve been let go. Express Scripts is no longer doing a trends report. Depressingly familiar theme.

  3. Fauci has rebound Covid symptoms after taking first course of Paxlovid. He’s now on a second course. I think Paxlovid is in trouble as a viable treatment for many folks. And it may be due to mutations. Remember how Pfizer touted Paxlovid as a “game changer.” Don’t ever trust any company or person who says that what he or she is selling is a “game changer.” https://twitter.com/EricTopol/status/1542153188828135426

Speaking of underhanded deal-making between the drug makers and governments. Pfizer struck a massive deal with the European Commission in 2021. Now, EU Commissioner von der Leyen can’t find texts she had been exchanging with Pfizer CEO Bourla. I’m sure she erased them. They probably contained sensitive financial details which the people (taxpayers) wouldn’t want to know.

You want to know why I could never in a million years work for a company involved in healthcare – drug maker, insurer, even most hospitals – well, it’s the deal-making, the obsessive pursuit of commercialization, misleading messaging, all of it. I’d rather be poor, which I’m slowly becoming, than work for these folks.

    1. An awful lot of our folks in DC have pfeizer stock also. Many also accept money from big pharma. We need to institute a blind trust.
