Tuesday October 25 2022 Forecast (7:38AM)

High pressure to the east attempts to nose into our region today and will limit the shower chance compared to yesterday, but sun will also be limited with lots of moisture hanging around. In fact many areas start the day socked in with fog, but that will thin out eventually. So not a great day today, but not a wash-out either. Low pressure offshore will be moving north northwest and will be close enough to bring more widespread showers into the region for a while Wednesday, before heading to Canada. As this does so, it will join with another low moving in from the west into a stronger eastern Canada storm system. A cold front trailing from the eastward-moving low will cross our region, returning fair weather to the region for late week. It will be mildest Thursday before a secondary boundary comes through in the evening and delivers cooler air for Friday and Saturday, but with nice dry weather as high pressure takes over, centered north of this area.

TODAY: Foggy start for many areas, otherwise mostly cloudy with a few sun breaks possible. Chance of a rain shower. Highs 58-65. Wind E up to 10 MPH.

TONIGHT: Cloudy. Areas of fog. Chance of showers, especially overnight. Lows 48-55. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Cloudy. Areas of fog. Showers likely. Highs 56-63. Wind E 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Areas of fog. Lows 48-55. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers early, then a sun/cloud mix. Highs 65-72. Wind S 5-15 MPH shifting to W.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 40-47. Wind W 5-15 MPH shifting to N.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 52-59. Wind N-NE 5-15 MPH.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 38-45. Wind NE 5-15 MPH.

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 52-59. Wind NE 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 30 – NOVEMBER 3)

High pressure is expected to bring fair weather and generally seasonable air to the region for the last 2 days of October before the weather turns unsettled with the arrival of a low pressure trough to start off November.

DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 4-8)

Potential unsettled weather to start the period, then high pressure is expected to take over with dry and seasonably cool weather thereafter.

  1. Thanks TK.

Had Zappe been named the starter last night, I have no doubt he would have marched the team down the field on the opening drive with at least the first “score” of the game. Chicago would have been down right off the bat and the momentum would have favored the Pats for the rest of the game most likely. Instead, Mac went three-and-out as there was just no energy on the field or in the stands. Any momentum went to the Bears from that moment on. We all know the rest. This was a “trap” game from the beginning and the BB fell right into the bears trap, so to speak.

Imo Zappe deserved the game from the start then have Mac’s game be the Jets this Sunday through the rest of the season.

NOW who starts against the Jets?

    1. Other than Zappe’s first 2 drives, the Pats were FLAT! Brutal and disgusting!!! What a sickening game!

      1. It was sickening. Between the fans at the game and BB, I was beyond disgusted. This is the same team that I’ve been saying from day one cannot support Jones and also didn’t support Zappe. But that is on BBs inability to draft and not the team. If anything perhaps more folks will see that now. I am not sure Zappe needed momentum from the start. He created his own in his first couple of drives with just under 100 yards and two TDs. But then he couldn’t hold it. In the second half he had two turnovers and 88 yards total with 10 of 18 completions (I may have lost count for that one). Will BB learn anything? I doubt it.

        1. Not so much that Zappe himself needed momentum, the TEAM itself needed momentum at the start and I believe that if Zappe had been under center on the opening drive instead of Mac Jones, maybe the Patriots score first. Of course we’ll never know now.

Chicago scoring first was HUGE for them!!

          1. Indeed it was. Zappe scoring two off the bat should have been huge enough for the Pats but the rest was history.

        1. Well, indirectly.

I think the moisture to its north might clip eastern areas, while the swirl itself weakens and/or stays offshore.

  2. What arrogance by BB towards the Bears. “We’re going to play both quarterbacks.” He had time at halftime to consider his arrogant, disrespectful view of the Bears, but he did not, as he told the reporter he was going to play both QB’s in the 2nd half. He thought the Bears were inferior. And his team followed suit and played as if they just had to appear on the field and would win by 20. BB has to go. This and his arrogance towards informing the fan base in interviews is obnoxious. He could do that when he was 13-3 each year and contending for a Super Bowl, but not when he’s 20-20 over the last 3 years. Name a QB for the rest of the year like the Colts did and stop doing this to the 2 QB’s and the team.

    1. I just did an errand and listened to the talking heads. I don’t do that often because I have my own. From the hosts to the call ins, everyone agrees with you. As they should.

The game was ours to have. Fields is a rookie. I believe he was a few picks ahead of Jones. He does not play as well as Jones. And he gets panned by his fan base. But his team…head coach down….has shown support complete.

At the start of the season, BB was openly supportive of Jones. Yet he now plays one QB against the other. One comment made and echoed by several was despite his initial praise Bill proceeded to do nothing but “kneecap” Jones, culminating in the horrific lack of respect he showed his QB last night.

The answer to was it BB or Brady is clear and has been since Brady left. I have lost every bit of respect for this man. To top that off, the display from many “fans” was revolting. They got exactly what they asked for. Sadly, a special player who stood at the sidelines to be the first to congratulate zappe on his TD was just collateral damage.

      1. I have to be honest and say …….. I don’t condone the fans, but I get the fans. That’s a lot of money being shelled out for tickets and parking and in sports, its, what have you done for me lately, as in the last 2 minutes. In that moment, its instant reaction, not deductive reasoning.

        1. I don’t mind them if they are upset with BB. Although if they really were they’d stop buying tickets. For them to chant zappe is something i just cannot accept. Jones should not have been disrespected. Interestingly, the offense apparently had no clue they’d be working with two QBs and they all seemed very upset by the chants.

  3. Nice active jet stream to bring lots of storms into the PNW – erasing that drought.

Continued generally favorable trends for the Southwest US. It won’t happen overnight but their trend is in the right direction for reducing the long-lasting drought there.

  4. I stopped listening to sports radio years ago because I was sick and tired of hearing how bad everything was all the time. Now, I read it on here all of the time.

Belichick is under ZERO obligation to tell the fans (or the media) anything. He is only obligated to inform his players and his owner. And despite what some clickbait articles said, he DID inform both QBs that they’d both see action last night, he even said this after the game. Some players didn’t know, so what? Does he let the QBs know that he’ll be rotating the linebackers during the game? No, because it doesn’t concern them. Likewise, the offensive players don’t need to know either, because it shouldn’t matter who is the QB, their job is to catch the ball/run with the ball/block, not pass. He’s certainly not going to tell the media anything, especially with the Jets game still 5 days away. Let them guess who they have to prepare for.

In terms of the QBs, they play-calling when Mac was in was completely different than when Zappe was, continuing a pattern from earlier this season. For whatever reason, the coaches refuse to use play-action when Mac is in, so the defense is just in pass rush mode and he has no time to throw. Notice that as soon as Zappe came in, play-action returned, and he had time to throw and receivers got open. Of course, half of his passes were either knocked down at the line of scrimmage or off target. BTW, at halftime, he did tell ESPN that he was going to play both QBs in the 2nd half, but can anyone tell me how many plays that Mac was on the field for? That’s right – ZERO.

Both QBs were awful, but that’s not why they lost by 19 points. Trent Brown taking 4 drive-killing penalties also hurt, but again, not why they lost. The Bears were 11-for-18 on 3rd down. If the defense could have stopped a gust of wind last night, it would have been a different game, but they couldn’t. How many 3rd and longs did the Bears convert? 6? 7? The defense was absolutely atrocious. The Bears had the ball for 37 out of the 60 minutes. They had 243 (!) yards rushing. Did the Pats ever consider keeping someone near the line to stop Fields from running? Instead, he kept carving them up with runs, many designed, some due to coverage in the secondary. The Pats never adjusted.

As for the fans – yes, there were lots of boos, and you know what, they were deserved. (I was not one of those who were booing). As I said, the play-calling with him out there was curious at best, but he still didn’t execute things. That pick he threw never should have happened. It was doomed from the second it left his hand. But the players don’t like the booing? Boo-freakin-hoo. Play better, they’ll cheer again. They’re paid way too much money to have skin that thin.

Fix the defense, stop taking stupid penalties, and get more consistent play from both QBs, and things should be better against the Jets. Does that mean they’ll win? Who knows, but they couldn’t possibly play much worse in all facets of the game than they did last night.

    1. If you would learn to read, you’d have noticed I said I don’t listen to talk radio any more but was out and about and curious.

But since you are late to the party, and I said I was moving away from the game last night, I’ll only comment that you got some right and some wrong. 🙂

      1. A. I said the comments hear resemble the ones that caused me to stop listen to sports radio. So perhaps you are the one that needs to learn how to read.

        B. If I only got some right, then please explain what I got wrong. I’ll wait.

        1. A I got that. But in an attempt to pretend you are trying to be respectful to others, I chose to go in another direction.

B sticking to my promise to move from discussion of the unmitigated disaster we watched last night, the comments you got wrong were the ones that were not right.

          😉

            1. Ah darn. You caught me. I have no opinion on what happened last night or on the patriots as a whole. If I did, I’m too shy to mention my views.

However, if I were wont to share and not too shy to do so, my views would have already been mentioned clearly here.

If I may be serious for a moment….You single handedly faulted every persons views. SAK you are looking for an argument. Try a discussion next time.

              1. Actually, I stated a lot of facts. You said some of them were not right, but can’t actually identify the ones that aren’t. The discussion starts when someone doesn’t agree with what I said, and has valid reasons why. You tried to start a discussion, but have no reason why anything I stated was no valid, so the discussion ended quickly.

  5. Tk leaving the house at 4am tomorrow morning do you think it’s in heavy rain , many thanks.

    1. Sorry, didn’t see this til now. My answer would have been: “Probably not at that time, but very possible a bit later. Showers around either way.”
