Friday November 4 2022 Forecast (7:36AM)

DAYS 1-5 (NOVEMBER 4-8)

High pressure keeps control of the weather through the weekend and into Monday with fair weather and temperatures running quite a bit above seasonal normals as a trough of low pressure holds all the colder and stormy weather in the western US. With a gradual increase in moisture both in the lower and upper levels we may see some low clouds and fog again tonight / early Saturday, and high cloudiness at times today and Saturday, with an increase in mid level cloudiness Saturday night / Sunday. So as we get to the weekend we won’t hold onto the sunshine quite as much, despite the continued warmth – still though, not bad at all for November! Monday we see a continuation of the well-above-normal temperatures, but the party will be about to end as a cold front starts to move across the region. There won’t be much in the way of any support for any precipitation with this front so just expect some clouds with its passage, allowing the dry spell to extend into early next week. The difference you’ll note by Tuesday though is that we’ve returned to seasonably cool weather courtesy a new area of high pressure from Canada.

TODAY: Sun may become filtered at times by some high cloudiness. Highs 66-73. Wind SW up to 10 MPH, a few gusts to 15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear except areas of low clouds and fog especially South Coast. Lows 45-52. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

SATURDAY: Sunshine likely becomes filtered by more high cloudiness. Highs 67-74. Wind SW 5-15 MPH, gusts around 20 MPH.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 48-55. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

SUNDAY: Variably cloudy. Highs 68-75. Wind SW 5-15 MPH, gusts around 20 MPH.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 50-57. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

MONDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 68-75. Wind SW 10-20 MPH shifting to NW.

MONDAY NIGHT: Clearing. Lows 38-45. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.

TUESDAY: Sun and passing clouds. Highs 52-59. Wind NW to N 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (NOVEMBER 9-13)

High pressure sits over the region during the first couple days of this period with fair weather, chilly mornings and milder afternoons November 9-10. Veterans Day November 11 looks fair for now as high pressure hangs on. Later that day and into the start of the November 12-13 weekend we may see some unsettled weather due to a combo of low pressure / moisture from the south and a disturbance from the west, but this may move quickly enough so that the end of the period sees a return to fair weather again.

DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 14-18)

Two shots of colder air may occur as we start to see a pattern shift. Precipitation events with air mass changes are expected to be minor.

    1. I think a couple records may be nipped (not shattered) Sunday and/or Monday.

It’s a long way off, but that looks kind of progressive to me, so I don’t think we will lose all of next weekend to wet weather – just part of it.

  1. TK – The current C-19 Chat Post is not showing up under Recent Posts. (This is in response to a short discussion on C-19 yesterday.)

    1. On my phone, I can see it as the 6th available link. On my computer, I can’t see it as it only lists 5 links. My guess is select older posts and it will become available.

      1. It seem odd that the device you use makes a difference. In the WordPress documentation for Recent Posts:
From the settings panel, you can also choose how many posts will display. By default, the block shows 5 posts, but you can display anywhere between 1 and 100 posts.

Oh well, I imagine that setting it to eight will do the trick.

  2. TK, what would you consider a record shattering departure?
    Curious?
    3 degrees? 5 degrees? 10 degrees?

I suspect that perhaps 2 of the upcoming days will break
the record at Logan. On Sunday the record “could” be surpassed by as many as3, 4 or 5 degrees, the record being only 73.

I have seen forecast highs of 76,77 and 78 by different mets.

Would a 78 be categorized as shattering the record?
    In my book it would.

    1. Will send this to my youngest. I love both Ed Sheeran and Luke Combs. JPD introduced me to Ed Sheeran years ago on this blog with his sing Perfect. It has always brought Mac to mind when I hear it

      Thank you

      1. One of the great things about music is how it conjures up memories and feelings. Always therapeutic for me. Happy to share Vicki. 🙂

  3. At least on my iPhone, the current C-19 post shows up under “October Archives”. In fact, I posted some new Covid information this morning. Nothing really of “breaking news” per say. Just stuff I heard over early morning radio.

  4. Thanks, TK
Major bog fog in Middleboro this morning. Near zero visibility. It has rebounded nicely to 71 at last check!

  5. SClarke. I think it depends on how the site is displayed. I will correct one comment. The iPhone shows only five recent blog posts. But you can see how whw opens from my link. That is where I see more.

The iPad opens to the current blog post and I need to return to the top of page to either see links to comments or click on “comments” at top of blog post

      1. Sorry. Talking in pieces again. WP should allow options for the number of items to appear on a side bar

  6. This is cool. I did check how rare and I like the explanation under the link

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-50338447

An ice specialist from the Finnish Meteorological Institute has been quoted as saying ice balls are rare but not unprecedented, and occur about once a year on the Finnish coastline as conditions allow. They also appear on the American Great Lakes where they are called Ice balls.

  7. Anyone who uses twitter paying to get a check mark? I just discovered twitter a bit over a year ago and hate to give it up. I’ve learned a lot. But no way I’ll pay

    1. No one pays for twitter unless they have a checkmark and most people do not have a checkmark which means its just something people are finding to complain about. people that have a check mark are not complaining much about it as its usually goverment officials, agencies or famous people that use it and 10 bucks for it is not all that much for them to keep it. its used to keep people from impersonating others.
