    1. I agree ! however, the next forecasting quandry may be the temps during the 3 day weekend, especially Sunday and Monday. Not too far north of the region will be cool air and just south, it will be blazing away…and of course, we will probably be in the toss up middle.

      1. The meso low messed it up. I’m not too upset, most of us missed the coverage of rain for this one. 😉

  1. It has been drizzling non stop since this morning there were periods of light to moderate rains. but that wind coming off the marsh is keeping temps down in the middle 50s

  2. In terms of showers, what’s the difference between “isolated” and “scattered” in terms of actual coverage in a particular area?

I have been in many a downpour when these terms were forecasted and usually w/o an umbrella and remained completely dry (not even dark clouds) when the terms “numerous” and “widespread” were used.

      1. Great questions May I guess at pop up. Mi always pictured a pop up as something not associated with a front or system but that sort of appears out of the blue. But how would that happen?

    1. There are some hard #’s on definitions by the NWS, but just rough #’s from me: Isolated is less than 25% coverage, scattered is 25% to 50% coverage, numerous is 50% to 75%, and widespread is greater than 75%. And yes you can still have widespread “showers” because technically they are difined to be convective in nature, though the term is used interchangeably with “rain”, and we just seem to be ok with it.

Pop-up showers can be associated with anything but most of the time they are going to take place in an unstable atmosphere with a cool pool of air above. It is another somewhat loosely-applied term.

  3. Imhate to saying but I think Philip s last performance was exceptional. Although I think judges should have stood for Jessica’s first song. I will be most shocked person on world if he doesn’t win. And I so want Jessica. If I’d closed my eyes first songs would have thought Houston was singing

  4. It’s okay! You have an excuse! You have a horrible cold! When I saw you the other day you were coughing up a storm 😉 (haha, horrible weather joke) Bahahaa. But you are in fact sick. So I’ll excuse your faulty forecast 😉

    1. Emily, Emily, Emily… Your jokes. Are you trying to be me? 😛

And thank you for your graciousness in forgiving my forecasting misfire. 😉

      1. Sorry about that folks. Above posts intended for another blog. Teaches me to sit on porch in dark listening to rain and try to see what I’m doing 🙁

  5. one more day of classes! Mixed feelings and I had my last high school band concert. If people are not busy on memorial day they should go to the billerica common to watch bands and other stuff go on in the morning

    1. I second that, enjoy every minute of ur last days. I miss band concerts to this day. Such an awesome time.

  6. Thanks TK.
Friday is looking like the pick of the week right now. Thunderstorm Index today and tomorrow is a 1 since I don’t expect severe weather should any storms fire. Best chance of that looks to be in the interior.

  7. Good morning all…
A bit under the weather, no pun intended.
Update may be delayed for a bit but I will try to get at least a forecast update in via mobile with a full discussion later.

Met’s and non met’s give your thoughts about how you think this weekend will play out.

    Carry on!

    1. TK just take care of you – my son had what you have and couldn’t stop work because of a new position literally just starting and as a result hasn’t been able to shake it. Just rest and we will be fine and I promise not to post comments in the dark any more so I get the wrong blog 🙁

  8. My far, far, far less than expertise thoughts are for chances of Tstorms most every night but widespread. A summer-type forecast.

AceMaster did you play last night. My husband remembered it was your league night and was lamenting the fact you have had even worse luck than he has weather-wise.

    1. Yeaaa, about that. We have to do something about this pattern of rain every Tues 👿

The rule is we can’t cancel unless the course closes. It has to be a complete washout for a golf course to actually close for the day. And even then, they wouldn’t turn down money to people who are crazy enough to play in the pouring rain (yes, some golfers are crazy). Well, thats what happened, even though by our scheduled tee time at 5 the rain and drizzle had pretty much stopped. Thats 3 out of 5 weeks cancelled already. If we have one more I won’t be able to play in the playoffs since I have vacation scheduled for the beginning of Aug.

I hope ur husband has better luck tomorrow! 🙂

      1. Sounds as if it’s the same rule where my husband plays. And it doesn’t make sense. If you play anyway can your score count for weeks you can’t be there? My husband said some of members in his league have been doing that.

        1. I wish we could do that. It’s a good idea. Unfortuntely the format of our league is match play so we need to have everyone in that match play at the same place same time.

          1. I called and asked him since I had no idea what you mean 🙂 and they do match play too. They just make sure to play the same holes as the person who couldn’t be there played the previous week. Then they pretend he’s playing with them using previous week’s score

  9. thursday and friday chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms best chance of storms will be friday afternoon. Highs in the middle 70s lows middle to upper 50s
saturday humid and warm highs in the upper 80s chance of afternoon thunderstorms(hail and wind possibility)? sunday cooler but still warm low 80s memorial day high around 80 and sunny afternoon thunderstorm. lows through out the holiday weekend will be in the middle to upper 50s

    1. Matt…just curious. How come seniors get out of school so early? I went to private school during most of my high school years and the school year ended in May for everyone at the same time from freshman to senior status. If I had gone to public school I don’t know if it would have been like your situation or not. Also IIRC in my school there was a week break between finals and graduation. Everyone had to take finals unless your average was “A” for the semester.

I graduated eons ago in May 1978…so probably things have changed in my old school and most schools…a lot. 😉

      1. I graduated June of 1967 from HS and we got out early too – public school. A lot of my friends went to Rivers and Belmont Hill and they had the same format you did Philip.

      2. we sign out of classes I have a physics final from 8 am to 11 am . Get my cap and gown after that.
then have senior breakfeast on the 31st hand in the sign out sheets and then go home. then on the 1st is senior prom then on the 4th we have a practice graduation from 8am to 11 then we have class day from noon to 6 then graduation on the 5 then the Blast after graduation from 11pm to 5am. after the 5th I have nothing for high school. I also going into middlesex to do a placement test on may 30th. 🙂

        1. Wow…you have got a lot of “fun” things on your plate! The only activity you and I share is the practice graduation. We didn’t even have a prom my grad year.

Have a good time and stay safe Matt! 🙂

  10. Matt – enjoy your last days of school. It’s been many years since I graduated high school but I still remember those last days of high school fondly.

Weather-wise, looks like a chance of thunderstorms for the next several days. Looking forward to that (as long as they don’t hurt anyone or anything) and I am looking forward to more sun, some heat and humidity. I know the reason for the storms each day – a stalled front. But it kind of reminds me of the summer of 2008 – from May – August we had a thunderstorm almost 4 or 5 days out of 7. I had just lost my job and I remember watching the doppler radar every day – watching storms pop up almost every day at around the same time – 4 or 5:00 p.m. It was a particularly bad time for us as my husband lost his job that summer, also, so I have strong memories of the summer of 2008.

      1. Meaning, I don’t think this summer will be a repeat of 2008 weather-wise. Job wise, my husband is disabled and I am still looking for work! 🙁

  11. An awful lot of sun today…was going for mostly cloudy skies. Although it’s something that you shouldn’t really complain about.
