The Week Ahead

10:37PM

A warm front will cross the region Monday morning with the slight chance of a few showers and thunderstorms. This will open the door to a very warm and humid air mass which will dominate the region Monday into Tuesday, though a series of troughs and a final cold front coming through later Monday through late Tuesday will cause several chances for showers and thunderstorms, but lead to a mild and dry day on Wednesday. By Thursday, a trough of low pressure will approach, and a series of weak low pressure areas will move through with an unsettled and cooler ending to the week ahead.

  1. Thanks TK!
How is the weather looking from Thursday to Saturday in the North Conway area? We have family vacation planned with friends. Three kids under two stuck in a house will not be fun. 🙁

I went zip lining up in Lincoln, NH this past Saturday. I convinced my brother to shoot up. I left at 5am and returned at 3:30pm. It was chilly in the morning, temps were around 52 degrees but quickly warmed up. It kind of felt like fall. I went on there more extremely zip line. It was incredible. There were 9 lines that went 55mph and the last one you went 75mph! They run year round and would love to go in the fall and winter.

Tom, how long did you stay in the Adirondacks? I have family in the Thurman/Warrensburg Area just NW of Lake George. It is a beautiful area.

    Have a great day/week all!

    1. Enjoy coastal. We are working with a bank in North Conway and I will be on a phone conference with them all day today and tomorrow. My business associate is up there. I do love the area except it has changed so much from what I remember when we spent winter weekends and summer vacations there.

    1. Wow – the air is absolutely still here and muggy. We turned the ACs on for a few minutes just to get the humidity out. Is there a sea breeze that’s moved inland? If you wouldn’t mind pushing it in the direction of Framingham, I’d be very grateful 🙂

  2. Thanks TK. I was considering a vacation day on Friday but may hold off based on the forecast. Perhaps a vacation day next week is in the cards instead.

  3. Thanks TK.
Wednesday looking like the pick of the week with sunny skies and humidity that will be in check. Only two days of the muggies today and tomorrow. The threat for the showers and storms will be there. Current thinking today the best chance for seeing a strong to possibly locally severe storm will be CT River Valley west. Tomorrow the threat shifts to the east and the timing of the front will be key. If the front slows down the chances of seeing strong to severe storms goes up. If it speeds up the severe weather threat will be very low.

  4. Anyone have any thoughts on Friday’s rain potential? Hoping its not an all day washout as I have a company community service/team building event that day. We’re going to be canoing along the Charles river pulling up all the invasive water chestnuts, dont feel like being rained on all day, thanks! (still dont know what that means but thought it was good place to use it, lol)

    1. does it mean going green?? seems like a GREAT place to use it – great project you are participating in, Acemaster. I hope you stay dry and the rain holds off

  5. I don’t think were looking at an all day washout Friday but it COULD be unsettled at times. Still plenty of time for that forecast to change. Wednesday still looks like the pick of the week.
Batch of showers that moved through western parts of CT has really weakened as it has pushed off to the east. Clear skies to the west of New England so I would not be surprised to see more showers and storms fire up there and move into SNE. I would not rule out a strong to locally severe storm and the best chance of that to me looks to be CT River Valley west.

  6. I am here in the poconos and it’s beautifull. Hot and very humid today. DP at 75! Big thunderstorm just went to the north of our area. On the look out for some big boomers later today.

  7. That area has a severe thunderstorm watch up until 11pm. The sun came out and enough instablity for thunderstorms to develop. On days with a front nearby I often call this self destructing sunshine since it further destablizes the atmosphere.

  8. Interesting – the cell just about to move from NY to MA seems to be moving SE while the one behind it appears to be moving West

  9. Mutliple severe thunderstorm warnings to the west of New England with storms producing damging wind gusts and in some cases quarter and golf ball size hail. Currently no warnings here in New England.

  10. the cell moving into SW MA is growing and one just popped up just west of Greenfield. So far no clouds building here Hazy though

  11. We’re somewhat capped here in eastern MA – don’t think there is much t-storm threat. We’ll see if something sneaks in tonight, but more likely just a few rain showers. Timing tomorrow is not favorable for storms. I think the front is through here by early afternoon, the wind is NW and the air is drying out by mid afternoon and we kiss the storm threat goodbye early. Sets us up for a great but windy Wednesday. Things roll downhill Thursday and stay that way through the coming weekend. We’re overdue for an unsettled weekend anyway.

    Update soon!
