  1. Matt… See the previous blog for the answer to your question about the parade.

Longshot… Repost the quiz here. πŸ™‚

  2. I feel this needs to be said once in a while. If anybody asks me a question and doesn’t get an answer, feel free to poke me again. It’s always a case of either I missed it in the scroll of comments on a busy day, or I had one of those “I thought I answered that (but didn’t)” moments. And if I don’t know the answer or don’t have a helpful one, I’ll let you know. πŸ™‚

  3. Thanks TK. Do you think that the heaviest rain on Tuesday and Wednesday am will be in NY and western New England?

    1. Indications point that way, but I’ve learned not to lean to heavily on those indications. Odds favor it at this point, however.

  4. When I read “A band of showers” I thought of cartoon puffy clouds playing the trumpet….hahahaha

    Thanks TK! πŸ˜€

  5. Thanks TK! Anyone else notice a lot of praying mantis this year, and very large ones at that? I don’t ever remember seeing so many and the size of them amazes me. I have one sitting on my window as I write.

    1. Sue I have not seen one in years and am envious you have many. They are lovely creatures. I did think the dragon flies we’re more numerous though

    2. I photographed a very large praying mantis on my car a couple weeks ago on a Monday morning. That was the first praying mantis I have seen since a foggy Monday night in 1982.

      1. My husband brought one to work with him on the hood of his car the other day. God love the little guy for hanging on for the whole ride.

  6. Repost of Quiz. Answer will come later today.

    Today’s AccuWeather Trivia Quiz?

Which is the dominant factor that triggers fall foliage colors?

    A. Temperature
    B. Moisture
    C. Reduction of daylight
    D. Nutrients

    1. C.

Trees don’t care that much about the weather pattern, though there is some impact from temperature, moisture, and the health of the trees. The #1 driving force has always been and will always be daylight.

The other factors then determine down to the day when the change takes place, but it’s always within the same 2 week window (maybe 3 in extreme cases).

          1. Oddly my knowledge of this is somehow related to having had horses. If I could only remember why …..dang getting old is interesting.

    1. Interesting…I guess if we want snow, we should root for El Nino to develop sloooowly. The fact that it still really hasn’t formed just yet I would say that a “weak” El Nino will be no problem this upcoming winter. We will see. πŸ˜‰

      Thanks Scott. πŸ™‚

      1. This is one of the factors I am using for my winter forcast. I go with plenty gut, but not all. A weak one will produce cold/snowy winters along with other factors. I would bet the house we will be looking at a weak one.

  7. fireworks were great i saw many of my high school friends. πŸ˜€ i loved it. Tk were you p at the fence by the rink or by the field to the left .

      1. I was near the fence by the baseball field “dugout” next to the pathway that leads to Route 129, about 15 feet away from the police tape that was at the border of the viewing area.
