Drier Future

8:22PM

One more low pressure wave riding along a front will continue the chance of wet weather through the night. It won’t rain all places at all times, but some significantly heavy rain will be around the South Coast including the Islands off Cape Cod at first. Eventually all of this will pull out to sea as low pressure wraps up and moves away. A northeasterly flow has developed in much of the region, dragging cooler air in along with the damp weather. This northeast flow will continue into Wednesday, but drier air will return sunshine to the region. This drier spell will continue through late week, but the air will be warming with time. Humidity will eventually come into play as we reach the weekend, at which time isolated showers or thunderstorms cannot be ruled out. However, we won’t see a return to the soaking wet pattern we have been in recently.

Updated forecast for southeastern New England…

TONIGHT: Cloudy with areas of fog. Rain, some heavy, near the South Coast and Islands, with isolated to scattered showers elsewhere. Slight risk of thunderstorms. Lows 55-60. Wind NE 5-15 MPH.

    1. A bit of SUMMER coming!

And happy birthday to you!! You share your birthday with that of Sir Paul McCartney. πŸ™‚

    2. Happy belated birthday. Not sure if you remember but my wife and you share the same birthday. Hope your feeling better.

  1. Vicki, how is the stone? I have had them before and know how painful they can be. Hope you feel better soon.

    1. Hi north. So far the discomfort from the stent they told me I’d feel hasn’t arrived but I’m still feeling as if the anesthesia is still in play. They are interesting little buggers aren’t they? I figure in the scale of things its not bad though :). Good luck with your work today!!!!!

  2. Thanks TK!!!

Happy birthday Vicki!!! I hope you had a great day! You’re so sweet and I love talking to you on here!

    1. Thank you Emily! I also enjoy talking to you and always enjoy reading your posts on here. They make me smile πŸ˜€

      1. I should have said that I was awake for a while in the night listening to the soft rain on the roof and thought of how much you enjoy listening to rain too. Its mother natures lullaby I think !!

  3. Great Forecast!
Finally, I can get out in the yard/garden and clean up the mess all that rain has left behind!

  4. Glad you are on the mend Vicki and hope you get to celebrate your birthday now! Liking the looks of Tuesday’s forecast since I will be at the Pine Hills golf course volunteering for Doug Flutie’s tournament he has every year. Such a great day for a great cause!

    1. How special that you volunteer – he works so very hard for Autism. And I understand he is an incredibly down to earth person and very easy to be with.

  5. A nice day today where there is no threat of severe weather or flooding like the past two days. The next few days will be nice with comfortable levels of humidity.

  6. It’s only fitting that this weekend will feel like summer on the first official summer weekend. Heading up to Maine for a reunion. Go bruins. Huge game tonight.

    1. Enjoy the reunion John and the nice summer weather will have this weekend. If the Bruins win tonight I don’t see them
losing three games in a row to Chicago.

      1. JJ, if Bruins win tonight they will win this series. Absolutely a huge, huge game for the Bruins. They can be in great shape with a victory tonight.

  7. Although this Blackhawks team did come back against Detroit down 3 games to one. I don’t see them being able to do that against this Bruins team. If it tied 2-2 at the end of the night you got a brand new series which now becomes a best two out of three. I did pick the Bruins in six before the series started so will see what happens.

    1. Agree with your thinking. Bruins want to try and avoid game seven in Chicago. Win tonight and stick it to them saturday.

    2. The Blackhawks also came back in the 1st game of this series. The Bruins have a winning characteristic in that they play as a team. There are some standout players but everyone is able to easily sacrifice their own ego and do what’s needed to win. The Bruins get into trouble when they don’t play their own game with their forechecking ability. They are not the best offensive team and the forecheck is necessary to compensate in the 1st game when they had a big lead they stopped playing their game and lost.

A win tonight would be huge.

    1. Wow this is looking pretty bad… I don’t believe in coincidence so hmmmmmmm interesting theory Mrs OS has

Hey Vicki, what’s this about a stone? Kidney Stone? Gall Stone?

        Neither are fun.

        Hope all is well.

        1. Kidney. I had one stuck with a few others sprinkled around. I now own a stent….or my right side does. I have not signed a lease so it must vacate in two weeks…three tops. πŸ™‚

          1. Good luck with that. Doesn’t sound pleasant.

I have had three (3) separate bouts with Kidney stones. Survived them. One bout resulted in a cystoscopy. Now that was fun!

Been free for over 10 years, so that is encouraging.

            Keep well.

            1. He Did the cysto two weeks ago. Ugh. Do you take anything to keep them from forming? I think stones have to be harder for a man than woman and the same for the cystoscopy.

  8. From Matt Noyes:

    Matt Noyes: Broadcast Meteorologist
Last night’s 10-day showed New England’s average high temperature into the 80s by Friday (some spots by tomorrow), and once in the 80s, I don’t see us coming out of an above normal temperature pattern all the way through the July 4 holiday…at least a two week stretch. Now…I do think we’ll see numerous thunderstorms starting up again next week, and the potential for a rainy day or quick shot of cooler air certainly exists, but the point to take away here is we’ve turned the corner, and a summer feel will dominate for the foreseeable future. Like it?

  9. I’ve been in summer mode for about a month now, average high for this time of year in my town is 80+ from now until beginning of Sept πŸ™‚

  10. I don’t think they blew more than the Hawks played their style of game and the bruins were caught. Either way I think you see Boston coming out way more aggressive on Saturday.

    1. Hadi, sort of agree.

      3 things:

      1. The Hawks made an adjustment which made them a tougher opponent.
      2. The Bruins, unfortunately, were sloppy at times which lead to goals.
      3. Tuukka was absolutely awesome and the first 4 goals were on his
teammates and not him. However, I honestly thought he could/should have
made the stop on the last one. It looked like he was napping on that one.

No one said it was going to be easy. I expected it to go 7 games from the get go. After all, they are playing a very fine and worthy opponent.

Saturday night’s game should be out of this world. I can’t wait. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

      1. Knowing nothing about the sport, I had the sense OS that the teams are very well matched and both deserve to be in the finals. You do not always see that in sports and to me makes it more exciting for the true fan.

        1. I think most agree bc after the final 3rd period expires the tv ratings locally drop dramatically, and it’s bc it’s to late

          1. Charlie I had meant to mention here that the ratings for a couple of the last games were through the roof……this alone…so I don’t think we need to worry about ratings

Boston Bruins’ 2-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 3 of the 2013 Stanley Cup Finals on the evening of Monday, June 17 delivered the highest-rated and largest viewership for an NHL game in NBC Sports Network’s history with a 2.26 U.S. household rating and 4.001 million total viewers, according to Nielsen.

        2. Why wouldn’t they have it earlier its not like there getting tv ratings west coast or south, again no offense to no one just a thought πŸ™‚

          1. Sure, they could have started it at 7PM, but then it
would be 4PM West Coast time.

I think they select a start time to Squeeze in as many viewers as possible.

Hey, I’d watch if they started it at midnight. πŸ˜€

  11. Darn I was sorry to hear the Bruins lost. I am trying to figure out how everyone stays up to watch these games. I think an occasional week night football game is a lot and couldn’t imagine if there were several playoff games on weeknights.

    1. Hahaha, yeah the overtimes are brutal. They are making a habit of that πŸ˜‰ But I usually stay up till 2 am anyways, so it’s no big deal for me πŸ˜‰

  12. Another 2 hr delay on train from Mansfield, the guy that was driving the train said it was bc of congestion and he said there was a fire on another line, when r we gonna build more tracks out of south station? Every week there’s major delays!!!

    1. They had a 4.6 rating which for the NHL is a strong national number but that was at 10pm and went down to a 2.9 once it went into overtime, πŸ™‚

  13. I have discovered today that “trough” is one of my favorite words…even though it is associated with bad or cool weather…which means non-beach weather…

But I just love the way that word sounds…haha!

    1. My mom always said cellar door was one of the most euphonic combination of words in our vocabulary. I see what you mean about trough.

      1. I know it wont be noticeable for about 4 or 5 weeks, but we start the 6 month journey back towards low sun, early sunsets, cold, snow ……… Argggggggghhhhhhhh !!!! πŸ™‚

        1. Oh dear. Mac said the same thing when I read him your post. My response with a smile…carpe diem. πŸ˜‰
