  1. Thanks tk, the day with the highest average temp has passed and the averages trend downward, my 1st day of Fall Aeration/Overseedings is Aug 19th which is only 23 days away.

    1. And now the NWS posts this:

US National Weather Service Boston MA
An area of thunderstorms is developing off the coast of North Carolina. This area will move up the coast tonight and spread showers/thunderstorms into Southern New England. These showers and storms may produce locally heavy downpours later tonight and Sunday morning. We have included here a snapshot (from satellite) of the area of showers/thunderstorms off NC…as well as our forecast of areal rainfall from later tonight through Sunday afternoon. Thunderstorms can and will produce small regions that will receive much higher rainfall amounts than the general geographical area. http://ow.ly/i/2IUNF

      1. Just went to the Outback with friends.

Wife had Victoria’s Filet while I had the Wood-Fire Grilled Pork Chop. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

        And yes it was delicious.

  4. At least in the last 5 years ( thats whats easily accessible on Taunton’s data page), after having some very hot July weather up through around the 20th, the last third of July has featured cooler weather.

    2008 : 22nd – 25th, high temps : 73, 71, 83, 77

    2009 : 20th-24th, high temps : 76, 67, 78, 72, 73 (note, it wasnt that warm earlier this yr)

    2010 : 30th – 31st : 77, 72

    2011 : 25th – 29th : 74, 78, 84, 75, 79

    2013 : 21st – 22nd : 79, 76 ……. 25th- 26th : 66, 72

  5. Oh good. More rain. Gorgeous night with fire on beach. Storm that went out to sea south of us vibrated house around 5:00. Sue did you have two little boys in bed with you?? I thot it was down your way

    1. You probably heard the distant thunder of one very powerful positive cloud-to-ground lightning stroke. Those produce what I like to refer to as the ‘big bottom outs” or “ground shakers”. Positive lightning can be up to or greater than 10x the power of a more common negative lightning stroke.

  6. Another simply putrid day so far anyway. I was going to go fishing this morning, but
didn’t due to the “expected” rain. Turns out I could have gone no problem. Go Figure.
    πŸ˜€

    1. That’s why I used the phrase “episodes of showers and thunderstorms” .. There will be a long rain-free period in just about the entire region today. πŸ™‚

Note the NE wind behind a small-scale low that came across the East Coast of New England this morning.

    2. Hmmmmm. As my brother and I stood in the rain fishing as youngsters our dad happily explained fishing was best in the rain. We never quite believed him

  7. A lot of talk on Ortiz on steroids today, talk about going past the fine line, time to talk to this bozo

      1. The Bozo was the umpire who called a strike when it was WAY
high and out of the strike zone. Ortiz, however, went ballistic
and smashed the crap out of the wall telephone with a baseball bat. Not very professional behavior to put it mildly.

      2. Lol shaunasy is the BIGGER Bozo, never listen to him, Ortiz I’m indifferent but has ROIDS written all over it, maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think so, they had it on espn and talking steroid use, then they transferred to Patriots talk

  8. About 15,000 showed up for Patriots Training camp, saw some of the new rookies, I like πŸ™‚
