The Week Ahead

8:54PM

Too easy. Low pressure over the Canadian Maritimes. High pressure inching from from the Midwest toward the East Coast. This is a setup for a perfect week of weather. There may be some clouds spinning in around the upper low to the east from time to time, and a cool start to the week will be replaced by milder air. We’re going to pay for this eventually. In the mean time, enjoy!

Forecast for eastern MA, RI, and southern NH…

TONIGHT: Clearing. Lows in the 40s. Wind NW 10-20 MPH.

MONDAY: Sunny early and late. Variable fair weather clouds in between. Highs in the 60s. Wind NW 10-20 MPH.

MONDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows middle 30s inland valleys to middle 40s coast/urban areas. Wind NW to N 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 65-70. Wind N 10-20 MPH.

WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY: Fair weather. Lows 40s to lower 50s, coolest valleys. Highs upper 60s to middle 70s daily.

  1. Answer to Today’s AccuWeather Trivia Quiz.

Today as we go into fall in the Northern Hemisphere, the Southern Hemisphere goes into…

The correct answer is B. I believe all got it right. Congrats.

  2. There is already a bit of color on the trees around Boston. My bet is an early leaf drop this year. I can only imagine what the distant suburbs must look like. πŸ™‚

  4. Boring week weatherwise. The NAO still projected to go pretty good way down in the negative territory. Hopefully this will be the case in the winter months. I don’t want to have a winter of 2011-12 where if you are snowlover like me you was a disappointing one.

    1. ya know JJ that pretty much says it all. We are faced with a glorious week of early fall/late summer weather and to many of us it’s boring. It does seem as if we have had a spell of very boring weather with nothing to get excited about. Was it Sue who said the other day she wanted to log on here and see a post with 100 responses? Sorry if I have the wrong person but it is true, isn’t it. Perfect weather can also be boring in a funny type of way.

      1. Hi Vicki…. It was Sue who made that comment. The first snow threat of the season this blog will light up like a
Christmas tree. Speaking of boring one of our meteorologists here in CT said I am going to have take up another hobby
this week with the weather being so boring.

          1. LOL! He does golf and has mentioned it on the air a few times. Great meteorologist with Gil Simmons.
Always has that smile and is energetic no matter what the weather is and he is a snowlover.

              1. Vicki he has been at WTNH our ABC affiliate in CT since February 2003. In fact he made his debut the day before the Presidents Day storm happened. Very good meteorologist in my opinion and has great local weather knowledge and as I mentioned earlier always smiling and energetic no matter what the weather. He is going to be using one of his favorite saying a lot this week Sun you throw in the fun.

      2. It was indeed me that said it Vicki. πŸ™‚ I am definitely ready for a little more excitement as far as the weather is concerned. However, I have to say that I love this crisp fall air. Makes me want to make apple crisp.

        1. Can you believe that with all of the apples we picked, we have not had an apple crisp yet?? I’m the cooker and not the baker so have to rely on someone else for the crisp and so far………..nothing πŸ™‚

I totally agree – time for some exciting weather!

      1. It’s tough to post at work. The rime ice has been accumulating 2-3 inches per hour since last night, that’s a lot of ice.

  5. Do you remember last week the idea that we may have to watch some kind of system to the south toward month’s end? And then the models completely abandoned the idea? They shouldn’t have. We still have to watch it.

    1. TK, i was just looking at the 0Z and latest 12Z of the EURO and it is popping a low off the Carolina coast last day of the month. GFS still not showing anything, but Canadian, as OS has said, has had this feature in some form or another for some time now. If the NAO goes more negative, that could keep it closer to the coast

  6. I may be totally weird today, but for some reason, the cool air today feels more like one of those warm early spring days than an early fall day. The air is cool, but not really crisp yet like fall.

    1. I had the same thought the other day. I wasn’t out today so can’t be sure. I did get to wear a sweatshirt all day and loved it πŸ˜€

  7. 12Z Canadian still has system, albeit, off shore.

    Question for TK

Canadian deepens it the most our latitude and beyond.
Would it be a tropical system or extra-Tropical at that time?
And if so, why the dramatic intensification this far North? You would
think that tropicals would be dying

    Curious, indeed.

    many thanks

  8. Just think 2.5 months from know we may have had our first snow. put in perspective, that would be like thinking back to the beginning of july. its really not that far off.
