Wind Blows The Dry Air Back In

10:55PM

Low pressure pulls away from the region Thursday as high pressure builds toward the area from the west. Between the two will blow some gusty winds, but with fair weather. High pressure builds overhead on Friday providing tranquil weather for Good Friday / Earth Day. The weather pattern continues to support progressive weather systems, and the next disturbance is expected to arrive Saturday bringing showers with it. A bubble of high pressure may clear the area out somewhat for Easter Sunday, but this is uncertain as it is difficult to time disturbances in this pattern.

For now, the details as I see them for the Boston area…

OVERNIGHT: Slow clearing but areas of fog. Low 38 to 43. Wind SW under 10 mph shifting to W and increasing to 10 to 20 mph.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny. High 54 to 59. Wind W 15 to 30 mph gusting around 40 mph at times.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Low 32 to 37. Wind NW 10 to 15 mph gusting over 20 mph.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny. High 58 to 63. Wind N 5 to 15 mph.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Increasing clouds. Low 39 to 44. Wind N to NE under 10 mph.

SATURDAY: Cloudy. Rain developing midday and afternoon. High 48 to 53. Wind NE to E 10 to 20 mph.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Cloudy with rain in the evening. Mostly cloudy with areas of fog and a chance of showers overnight. Low 43 to 48. Wind E 10 to 15 mph shifting to S and diminishing.

SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny in the morning. Partly to mostly cloudy in the afternoon. High 61 to 66. Wind SW 5 to 15 mph.

MONDAY: AM rain/drizzle. PM showers. Low 46. High 56.

TUESDAY: Chance of rain. Low 43. High 54.

  1. Thanks for the update TK but I could do without next weeks forecast. Such a nice site to visit for information about the weather and to ask questions without getting hammered by trolls. Thanks again TK!

  2. Quite windy out there this morning… it’s whistling by my office window down here in Framingham. With the kids home this week, we usually take them to the beach, Plum Island, for some beach combing. It seems now as though tomorrow looks a bit warmer and less windy. I guess we’ll give it a try then…
After that its just a matter of whether or not we get the soccer games in on Saturday, hopefully the rain holds off until mid-afternoon.

    1. Hello everyone, mowed the lawn for a 2nd time, from all the rain it’s bright green and growing like a weed, looks like more rain will be coming

  3. Power is out in a fair amount of locations. We lost ours in Framingham for about an hour. Not long enough for me – I love losing power!!! Our home alarm company called to confirm and said there are a lot of outages in the Wellesley area also. Wind continues be fierce.

    1. Vicki, I am the complete opposite. If I lose electricity for more than 5 minutes, I panic, especially at night. Hope you have your power back on by now.

    2. Vicki – our lights flickered for awhile earlier. I don’t like when the lights go out. The wind has really been blowing and it’s so cold. I think there may be frost in some locations later tonight. I am hoping that Easter Sunday stays dry. My husband and me will be having dinner at my mother’s house. Hope your lights are back on!

  4. There were a few sprinkles around noon here in Boston…bonus points for any met that predicted them. Winds very brisk to say the least. I still need the winter coat tomorrow as well with bone chilling temps in the 40’s with onshore winds.

Get ready for frost most areas tonight…even Boston temps low-mid 30’s! :-0

It would be nice for even a few glimpses of sun on Easter Sunday morning. 🙂

  5. I just want to see a nice stretch of spring weather that lasts a couple of days but hopefully Easter will be nice.
Bruins must win tonight because I don’t see them coming back from 3-1 down to win the series and they trail currently 4-3 in the 3rd period.

  6. Don’t hold your breath for a nice Easter. It’s just so New Englandy this time of year as these systems drag on and on for days at a time. I sure hope I am wrong it would be good to see some sun and warmth.

    1. I just hope that this isn’t going to be a series in which the “home” team loses.

Having said that, the Bruins needed to win tonight badly to have any realistic chance.
