Weekend Tweak

1:45AM

  1. Wow retrac, the Easter Bunny is not going to be happy !! Not much better here in Mt. Holly, NJ…drizzle, fog and in the low 40’s. On the road home today and glad to see warmer wx is in the forecast next week. We were spoiled this past week with temps generally in the 60’s and one day in the 80’s. Have a good day everyone !

  2. Good morning all! The Easter Bunny will be fine as the temperature rises slowly after the rain ends tonight. For now though… cold & wet. Rain is flipping over to snow when precipitation enhances here at Woburn this morning. Very easily enough cold air aloft to do this for the next couple hours, especially higher elevations, then it will warm too much aloft after that.

  3. Over to rain here now TK.

Just started a fire. Feels like a late November day today. Think we’ll make pot roast for dinner. Has me thinking football is on later. Actually, I can’t wait for that Bruins game.

  4. Haven’t seen a flake since Mar 29th, and before that on march 7th I saw 2 flakes, lol πŸ™‚ all rain here in Boston, been outside since 630am.

  5. Would anybody like to make a small bet that we’ve seen the last freeze, all my plants went outside yesterday, for the last 7 yrs I’ve been putting them out the last weekend of April, they do good as they get about 6-7 hrs of sun per day πŸ™‚

    1. Ok πŸ™‚ or just bragging rights, both Boston and Providence will not get a freeze till next Oct, have a good day πŸ™‚

  6. I’ll take you up on that on Charlie but is that anywhere in NE, MA, SEMA or just the towns we are living in?

        1. Ill do a $100, I’ll pay if I lose, but whoever bets gotta pay πŸ™‚ have a good day everyone

  7. I have a friend in New Ipswich NH that I met through Todd Gross’s weather watchers group. She woke to a covering of white this morning. And it does feel like November. I like the idea of a fire. We are cooking for Easter and a fire would be nice.

  8. Enhanced precip coming in from the west means another round of mixing between now & noon. Already starting to mix again in Woburn. Should be too warm aloft by noon for much more of that.

      1. All rain in Boston so far, shocked u got a mix tk πŸ™‚ I always tend to forecast where I live and here there was no shot of snow, I live in a area where the stupid providence stations tend to be closer to what I get as supposed to the Boston stations, but I hate the providence stations,

      2. I guess I’m just jealous of always being left out of snow, I love snow and my area along 95 in between Boston an providence usually gets rain like today πŸ™‚

  9. I love the snow as all of you now but its late April and I am ready for some mild temperatures. This is why I love New England where you could see snow and then a week later have a chance for thunderstorms with a cold front coming through on Thursday.

    1. Not to worry Jimmy, I doubt there will be a repeat of late April 1987. I remember that year well. Even Boston got 4 inches and much more in the W and NW suburbs. I am somewhat surprised though that there have been reports of snow this morning in SNE, even near Boston according to TK.

  10. Keeping my fngers crossed that we see the sun rise tomorrow morning and hopefully we get those 70’s temps next week so my tulips can open up. They have been shut tight for the past week now. Daffodils are still blooming nicely.

  11. Charlie there were some snow flakes mixing it with the rain but its more of a raw rainy Seattle like day.

  12. TK I have a bit of a “challenge” for you…What will the weather be like on Friday in England for the Royal Wedding? Typical London foggy/damp or a rare nice sunny day?

    1. What’s funny is that they have a ridge parked over them with alot of “rare” sunny days during the next 5 to 10 days. The exception may be Friday itself, in which the ridge buckles to allow a disturbance, a wind shift, alot of clouds, and some potential light rainfall. 5 days away though, anything can happen.

  13. According to current radar, it is all snow from Concord NH northward and much of interior Maine. Hard to believe that tomorrow is Easter and approaching late April.

    1. I think this could be one of those years where we skip spring and go to summer. If you believe the Farmers’ Almanac they are calling for a hot and wet summer. Will see since next week they called for unseasonably warm weather with big thunderstorms for New England.

  14. We were out earlier doing some shopping in Framingham and here in Sudbury and we got some pretty good rain – there are some big puddles here and there on some roads. But it is chilly out. I am definitely looking forward to some warm and sunny weather – I think the first warm and sunny day we get everything is going to blossom out and get really green! Last night we watched the Weather Channel and watched how those severe storms developed. It is truly amazing how advanced the dopplar radars are now where you can see exactly where a tornado might be – and they even showed where a “debris ball” was. I think that is where the core of the tornado was. In any case – would rather have this cool weather than any severe weather. But the season is young and I am looking forward to seeing how this summer shapes up.

Easter dinner has changed for us – now I will be making it instead of going over to my mother’s! That’s okay – I love to cook and bake anyway! Have a Happy Easter!

  15. No snow here in Marblehead, the water has warmed too much and I am at like 10 feet elevation, basically sea level.
So ready for the warmer weather, hopefully this week can bring those 60’s and even some 70’s. Might come with some rain though.
    Have a good Easter everyone!

    1. I was down in Gloucester for a soccer game this morning, why they didn’t cancel, I’ll never know… Anyway, some flakes mixed in aroun 11:30… almost right on the ocean, maybe 1/2 mile.

Miserable, cold, wet, but my kid scored and they won 2-1!

      1. Maybe a few flakes did fall, but i didn’t spot any, nor was I acting like my usual self when snow flakes are reported around the area, (running to every window in the house).

  16. Scott I smiled When I read you run from window to window. I’m a grandmother now and still do the same. My three year old grandson now runs with me. I think a lI’ve of weather is something you are born with πŸ™‚

    Happy Easter all

  17. Beautiful day today, pool water is 56 deg, and there r 7 kids in it, u get more out of ur pool when u open it up in mid April, been doing it for 7 years now, and every single April we have used it, have a great day everyone, feels like mid summer out there, 73 degrees in N.Attleboro

  18. Hi all and Happy Easter to everyone celebrating it today! I will be back later with a full update and a look at the week ahead!

    Monday looks damp & cooler.
Tuesday-Wednesday look much warmer and mainly dry.
Thursday is transition day with showers/thunderstorms.

We’ll look at those days in more detail and beyond to the end of the week on my update later! Have a great day all!

  19. Happy Easter to everyone who is celebrating it!
The weather looks to make news this week across the country with severe storms and unfortunatley it looks like more tornadoes. It looks like for us if we are going to have thunderstorms it is going to come with the cold front. I don’t see severe weather right now and its too early for me to give an impact.

  20. Amazing how we were spotting snow flakes yesterday, and today, some of us are taking a swim in an outdoor swimming pool.
Incredibly nice out their today with relatively low humidities and warm temps.
Too bad it’s short lived since tomorrow is going to be another cool and raw day.

  21. Scott it seems it is always the way when transitioning from winter to spring in New England where it a few steps forward then a few steps backwards. As I was saying yesterday its amazing how snow flakes are mixing in with rain and a little less than a week later there is a chance for thunderstorms.

    1. I love thunderstorms but when I lived in Dallas and saw those tstorms and now been back for 7yrs I don’t get excited here anymore bc there so few and far between and rarely do we get bad severe weather, 1st year I lived in Dallas I saw nickel size hail accumulate 2 inches, it was truly unbelievable, and I’ve been following the weather here since around 1980 and never have seen that here around my area, hope everyone has a great day! Oh yeah also I saw tennis ball size hail on the ground, I didn’t see it fall but it was still amazing, it was weird when I held it in my hand, it was more oval as to a perfect circle, it was awesome! πŸ™‚

  22. A couple of my tulips have opened today with the brief sunshine and warm temps. Now mostly cloudy with showers approaching the Boston area. Surprisingly, they are to the north…I thought that any showers were going to be south of Boston today, eventually heading “northward”. Either way, I guess the forecast of afternoon showers are still right on target. Late morning/early this afternoon, skies were almost completely blue. Still waiting for rest of my tulips to pop out. I guess have to wait until Tuesday and Wednesday. Overall, a very nice Easter! πŸ™‚

  23. I noticed trolls still making snow “forecasts” on the WBZ blog…they never give up, do they? >:-(

  24. Happy Easter everyone- what a day today in Pembroke ma. We had most of the windows
open, I was caught off guard by the warm tempature.

  25. Philip I noticed the trolls and their snow predictions as well. They have no knowledge of weather at all and just like to cause trouble. Thankfully they are not on this blog. Well there won’t be snow this week but I am keeping an eye on a cold front coming through on Thursday with the chance of showers and thundestorms. Its too early to give an impact although Henry Margusity in his blog yesterday puts most of SNE with the exception of the coast in the intense thunderstorm category while the coast is in the heavy thunderstorm area.

  26. It is far out, but being in late April it will limit the storms Thu, but u can’t rule out a stroke of lightning and a clap or two of thunder IMO. We get most of our severe weather from about June 1st to July 31st, hope everyone is having a great day πŸ™‚

  27. Love Barry’s response to the troll(AccuWendell)
Hey AccuWendell… Are you dreaming my friend? You’re forecast of 8-12 inches isn’t too accurate. Guess you should change your name! LOL.

  28. At 11 pm, Barry Burbank changed his temp forecast for Tues and Weds. His feeling is the cold air might win out a little more than originally anticipated.

On another note, it was a great week for B-Town sports.
