This is an update to the previous forecast.

No significant changes to the previous discussion.

Updating the forecast for details and time periods.

TODAY: Sunny morning. Increasing clouds afternoon. Highs from near 60 coastal areas to  near 70 inland areas. Wind light variable becoming SE up to 10 MPH.

TONIGHT: Cloudy. Periods of rain late. Lows in the 50s. Wind SE to E 5-15 MPH.

THURSDAY: Cloudy. Periods of rain. Temperatures steady in the 50s, lower 60s possible well away from the coast. Wind E to NE 10-20 MPH.

FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers. Low 51. High 64, cooler coast.

SATURDAY: Variably cloudy. Isolated showers. Low 50. High 68, cooler coast.

SUNDAY: Partly cloudy. Low 54. High 74.

MONDAY – MEMORIAL DAY: Mostly sunny. Low 57. High 81.

TUESDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy. Chance of showers/thunderstorms. Low 60. High 76.

  1. The NWS (TK’s Favorite) only has .16″ of rain for my area on its graphical forecast for the next two days. I was expecting a lot more during this period.

    I was thinking we would have more rain also, coastal. TK how is the rainfall total? Low? The Sudbury river is still at a very decent height but I know how quickly that can turn around

        1. On Sunday. Water was too high in a couple of spots.
          When I say too high, I mean it was high but the bigger problem was that it was moving too fast. The species I am trying to catch (large mouth bass) do not like fast water.

            1. For Bass I use the following

              Lures:
              Rubber/plastic night crawlers (DEADLY!)
              Spinners
              Flatfish
              Jitter Bug

              Bait:
              Live Night Crawlers
              Long ago, I had used shiners and
              sometimes grass hoppers.

              Other species

              I often catch chain pickerel with the
              same bait/lures I use for bass.

              When using smaller lures, I also catch
              Black Crappie, Yellow and White perch
              and of course, the damn little sunfish.

              Once in awhile, I’ll throw out some dough balls for Carp.

              It just all depends on what I feel like
              trying to catch.

              I like fishing for the bass because they
              are quite plentiful and actually pretty
              easy to catch IF one knows where to
              find them. Catching bass is like hunting. Pick out a spot that looks good for them, and most often it is.

    2. Harvey mentioned last night that there would be more rain the farther away from the coast and he wasn’t sure just how much rain would make it to the coast itself.

    Did you make it to the game? Sometime during the 4th inning I came down
    to your seats, but there was an invisible man sitting there.

    The umpires were blind. They did not call Gome’s hit a home run. From My seat
    I could clearly see it was a home run. The manager challenged and easily won.
    Home run Gomes!!!

    1. Although I brought along a jacket to the game last night, I NEVER put it on.
      I was very comfortable the entire game, even walking around outside the park
      after the game. A beautiful night, except for the outcome of the game.

        1. Same could have been said for the Pats this far into the season last year ………..it’s only a month and they may continue as they are or turn around. Far too soon to judge IMHO.

          1. It may be too early to judge, however, so far the results simply are not there. I, for one, am NOT
            optimistic at all. I didn’t like what I saw last night.

            1. You may be right but then again, they seem to have a history of bouncing back so that makes it far too soon to judge IMHO. Either way I figure they do what they do. Someone wins, someone loses; but I like to remain loyal no matter the outcome.

          2. R u kidding Vicki, lol I fear your not, the Patriots have not been below 500 for almost 15 yrs, stop trying to cause problems, I’m going by the radio, I haven’t watched a game yet 🙂

            1. Charlie – their season start this past season was quite rocky – I am not saying they were not doing well but many were. I am also not saying that the red sox are not doing well. I AM SAYING – and please listen for a change – that it is far too early to say they stink. Now go back and read where all I said was it was too early to judge and then I will happily accept your apology 🙂

        1. Yeah I posted a video of Sweet Caroline 🙂 took it so the boys could see. My oldest was very upset that he did not go, tried to explain that it’s just too late for him, but he argued passionately that it was not. He lost the battle 🙂

        SEAT 12 was empty.

        Are there 2 section 91s?

        I was looking accidentally at 90 at first and then realized
        my mistake and looked at 91. Seat 11,12,13 and 14 were empty.

        This was beginning of 4th inning.

        1. Right field area. I stepped away for a couple minutes so that could have been the issue. What a bummer!!!

  4. Even after today’s 0Z run, the EURO still has Sunday at 55-60 and Monday
    only at 60-65. What gives here as this goes against ALL forecasts?????

  5. OS thanks for the answer. I recognize (and still have in a tackle box sadly not used for years) many of the lures. Brings back some nice memories as I always loved to fish.

  6. I just heard they r breaking up merloni, heard the rating have tanked the last 14 months, I also heard the zo show ratings r at record highs

  7. Charlie people were concerned with how the Pats started doesn’t they were bad but I do remember many (non-crazy) fans worried about the start. Vicki was trying to point out that maybe the Sox are playing poorly right now doesn’t they stink as you so put. If you watched Baseball you might have a better understanding of why the Sox are struggling vs. they stink. If anyone came on said the Pats stink you would lose your mind.

  10. Harvey showed pictures of tons of hail covering the ground in Denver. It seems winter does not want to go away in the Rockies. The tv newscasters around here complain a bit too much about NE weather. They don’t know how lucky we are compared to much of the rest of the CONUS.

    1. It was really more of a severe thunderstorm thing that produced the hail. It was pretty impressive in that section but it was a relatively narrow strip that saw it.

  11. The Red Sox have yet to win 3 games in a row. I believe during the “Bobby V” season they at least did THAT much. 😉

    1. last year they won the world series with this coach and now, you are all complaining about a bad month

      1. I am not giving up on them just yet, but they had better turn it around soon. As I mentioned here yesterday, sooner or later a team is going to finally get on a hot streak and break away from the pack. My concern is also these recent injuries for the long term.

          1. That may be true, but I have to say I have
            NOT been impressed with the manager and
            his decisions.

            I hope they turn it around, but honestly, I fear
            they will NOT. We shall see.

            1. Yeah..I hear you on Farrell. I also agree on the chances of them turning it around. Unless they can acquire a big bat (Giancarlo Stanton or someone like that) I don’t think the pieces will fall in together like they did last year. Also don’t underestimate the loss of Jacoby Ellsbury.

  12. I asked my Uncle in Toronto today to have the Jays take it easy on the Sox during this 3 game series. He said that the Jays are the ones that deserve the break and that we just won the World Series :).

  15. I am thankful a few bloggers here are not living life as fish. They would not live very long, as they cant stop going after the bait.

    1. No question about that, Tom. It is probably why, in the test on FB to see what kind of animal I would be, I was a lion(ess) and not a dolphin 🙂 Conversely, however, in a very small pond, it seems to me that dancing around or hiding from bait should not be necessary. Perhaps a no fishing sign would work 😉

    Severe Thunderstorm Warning a few moments ago near the Great Lakes in Upstate NY. I am happy for that cloud cover and stable airmass especially seeing activity fire that early in the day.

    1. Don’t know what height the tops are.
      I looked at 500MB and 300MB maps and winds are NW.

      Tk will have to answer that. I see NOTHING obvious.

      1. Thanks, anyway, OS. Looks like (not saying it is) a small low right over us – the way the circulation looks.

        But you are right – the sun is out in Sudbury and so far it’s turned out nicer than was predicted – at this point. I’m sure the clouds and showers will develop later. But at least the latter part of the coming wknd. will be nice and near or just above 80 before the thunderstorms move in!

    2. Even if the upper winds are the same the overall movement of the storms
      can be different depending on how the lower level winds feed the cell.

      If you look at any approaching cold front with storms developing, most storms
      move in approximately the same direction, but not necessarily all of them.
      There is usually a storm or 2 that are moving in a different direction. For example, the overall storm movement may be NW to SE, yet there will be
      a storm moving W to E or even SW to NE or N to S.

      I’m sure TK can elaborate on this. Another Meteorology 101 moment. 😀

  26. I cancelled the day last night only for there to be no rain, What is going on, nobody knows what’s going on 🙂

    1. I was waiting for you to make that comment. Haven’t had the chance to do full updates. It may surprise you to know that I do know what is going on. You never canceled on rain forecasts last season. Why such a quick trigger finger this season?

      By the way, there will only be scattered showers today. Enjoy. 🙂

    2. The weather is ALWAYS in a state of flux. I find it amazing that Mets do as
      well as they do.

      Charlie, do you keep up with the latest changes for the weather? OR
      do you go by a forecast that is days old. If on MONDAY the forecast was
      for rain on Thursday and it doesn’t rain on Thursday you say where’s the RAIN?

      Last night Eric Fisher CLEARLY indicated that there would be NO RAIN
      in the Boston Area today, including ALL of Eastern MA. Only rain would be
      Western sections.

      Get with the times Charlie.

      2. Tuesday evening just 36 hrs ago rain was in many forecast, I’m sorry os I don’t watch the news everyday, I don’t think many in today’s standards have the time to watch the news everyday, nor would I 🙂

        1. If you are concerned about the weather and it affects your business, then it’s your business to keep up with the the most current weather forecasts and weather. Why would you make decisions based on information 36 hours old.
          Doesn’t make any sense at all.

          36 hours is a LONG time ago weather speaking.

    Current report is 53 Degrees, while inland a bit, it has cracked 60 already, including
    60 at Bedford and 63 at Norwood.

    1. It is nearing 69 here. Wonder if we can start a campaign to get the recording area for weather events back to Boston Common.

      1. Currently at the airport: 56 with the Wind at 080 Degrees

        65 at Norwood. 62 at Bedford.

  28. Radar answer: Depends on steering winds dominating at the level the precipitation is generated.

  29. Pembroke is 11 degrees warmer than Boston at 66 right now. 55 In the city now and it feels it. After a long cold winter this is what we get. Yes I know a gradual warmup but is this cool patern going to end.

  36. Day 5 or 6 in a row now consistently on the GFS, of a tropical entity coming out of the Caribbean.

    996mb, right up and into the west coast of Florida. Interesting ………. not strong, but still …….. that would be rather early in the hurricane season.

  37. I am hoping for no rain on Saturday morning because I am going to one of my best friend’s graduation at Endicott and it will be outside. *Fingers crossed!*

    I don’t mind the rain today though 🙂
