Weekend Outlook

7:01PM

A quick discussion, followed by an updated forecast for southeastern New England, focusing on this weekend, and taking a quick look into next week…

Cold front moves through during the evening along with an upper level disturbance. Showers and scattered thunderstorms will continue but eventually fade somewhat. Upper level low pressure and a new surface low get going offshore early Saturday and temporarily spin a northeast wind into the region with lingering clouds and possibly a little drizzle or a shower, but eventually drier air will work down from the north and at least some partial clearing will occur, with more complete clearing a possibility during the day. If it does not completely clear during the day then it will do so at night, setting up a perfect day on Sunday, 100% sunshine with dry and mild air as high pressure moves overhead.

High pressure pushes offshore Monday allowing some warm air to invade the region. This may continue into Tuesday depending on the timing of the next cold front, which should cross the region sometime Tuesday with unsettled weather. This will likely evolve into a cooler and unsettled pattern for the middle of next week with lots of clouds and some wet weather.

Updated forecast…

  1. Thanks TK.

OS we missed everything. Thank you for asking. That gave me a big smile. Your posts lately just make me laugh as well. Not at you of course but with you. You have a way with “words”. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    1. Excellent. Hope all went well.

Looks like we got part of a storm around 8:30ish. I was wallpapering so I didn’t hear a thing, but my wife asked if that was thunder. I just said could be and kept on working. Taking a drink break. Back to it in a moment.

Redoing the bathroon and it has been ongoing since 3/31!!!

I was forced to hire Plumbers, plasterers, contractor and electrician for plumbing work, new tub and fixtures, vanity and toilet, plasterer for new ceiling, contractor for new floor and some misc stuff and electrician for new light, switch and fan. I don’t ever want to see a contractor again.
I’d be damned if I hire a painter or wall paperer. That I’ll do myself thank you.
Painting done and wallpapering 1/2 done. Almost complete

      1. Oh darn. Both sons in law in plumbing. Wish I’d known. We had two flashes of lightening here when we arrived home. I saw what looked like a more active cell headed your way.

Oh and we have been working on the master bath for nearly two years so march is speedy πŸ˜‰

        1. And it went ok. Thank you for asking. Mac is back in hosp for a bit but we think for med reaction type problem.

  2. Thank you John

Beautiful morning. Sun and temp climbing. A lovely green lawn except the house number my SIL decided to mow into it. They have been watching gnomeo and Juliet and apparently decided to copy the idea of mowing shapes into the lawn

Ps sorry TK. Changes my name and got bumped into moderation. Just ignore me…..although that is rarely easy to do πŸ˜‰

  3. Leaving soon for the concert, four kids my wife and I . Be glad when it’s over as I’m not really a concert person. It was a birthday gift for our son as he loves r5 who will be one of the acts.

    1. Enjoy, I know there’s a big concert at Gillette, didn’t know about that concert, have fun

  4. A bit cool but the clouds are gone and its a pretty nice morning out there πŸ™‚

I graduated high school last night! We had our ceremony outside and despite a few sprinkles and some thunder and lightning we made it through the whole thing. The deluge started just a few minutes after it ended!

    1. Congrats. Now go out there and live the best life that you can one day at a time. Make smart decisions and be happy.

  5. If you haven’t yet, please go read Eric fishers latest post. It’s awesome. Here’s a snippet:

In short, even if there is no doubt that it’s been a pretty typical May so far as 100+ years of records go, no one’s going to believe it anyway. My favorite answer from colleague Kate Merrill was β€œJust let us complain. It’s what we like to do around here!” Haha – well so be it. Perhaps novels will be written on the miserable spring which plagued New England after an epic winter that was the worst in recent memory (it wasn’t). In any case, here are the numbers on this month to further incense the general population.

      1. This morning Barry said on air that May averaged +1.2 degrees which is somewhat surprising considering that very cold May 28th high temp of 50 degrees with most of that day in the upper 40’s. It is better to face a chilly spring than having to face miles of destruction from tornadoes. The back door fronts we have during the spring really save us from a lot of severe weather that much of the CONUS has to deal with…not to mention majorheatwaves on occasion during the summer.

IMHO…We are very lucky to be living in New England! It is just too bad that the local TV newscasters here don’t realize it. πŸ™‚

    1. DS I’ve been following him. I love his style. Not as much as TK to be sure but he doesn’t spare anything when he posts and also when he replies some of the more interesting folks on his blog. I applaud him for politely not letting them get away with some of their nonsense

      1. He has replaced Barry as my favorite TV Met. He’s no BS and more importantly, he takes no ones else’s BS.

  6. even though its cooler than i was thinking, NOT A DARN CLOUD IN THE SKY!!! I only need sunshine to warm up my pool with not temperatures going under 50 which we might get this week. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ plus highs in the 70s to 80s all week sounds good to me πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

  7. Agreed, although it is VERY COOL out there, especially along the coast, it is still
nice due to 100% Sunshine. It makes all the difference in the world.

60.3 here. Really can feel the chill in the air.

  8. I am frustrated that I have to type name and email each time I post here. Now on my iPad as well. I cannot find a way to,save them. Arghhhhh

  9. Love Eric Fisher’s post. He and I have the same attitude, while Barry and I have a similar forecasting style.

    1. Agree re attitude. It is why I like him so much. Plus I love the way he responds to the negative comments …..with quiet hutzpah.

      1. We’re having a mild and dry Spring and people are going nuts about bad weather like it’s the worst we’ve ever had and we’re being punished?

        Wow……………… πŸ™‚

          1. Oh and I should have said….and would have if I were not mentally numb….that is not only why I love Eric’s style but also yours.

  10. Beautiful day albeit cool. Had a birthday party for my son and got outside to knock down a piΓ±ata!!

  11. Will make a few adjustments to the next update based on recent data and chatting with a couple respected colleagues. πŸ˜‰

  12. Today’s AccuWeather Trivia Quiz.

What was the highest sustained winds recorded in New England during Hurricane Bob? (This is sustained winds, not gusts.)
    A. 80
    B. 90
    C. 100
    D. 110

Answer later today. Today is the first day of the Atlantic hurricane season.

  13. This cool and dry miserable spring we are experiencing on the south shore is driving me crazy. I’m catching a cab to Framingham.

  14. Beautiful day so far. Up to 65.1 here. I’ll guess we’ll make 70 even if sea breeze kicks in later. πŸ˜€

    1. GEEZ Logan’s WIND is NORTHEAST at 9AM)!(@*(#&*!@^#&*%^!&@#%!%@#

Is there any other wind direction there? Just saying!!!

From late March to Early June the mean wind direction there must be
      EAST!! INSANITY!!

      1. The Wind is North to NorthEast ALL the way out to the
        Berkshires. Even NorthEast at Worcester.

I thought we were getting a West wind today with it possibly
turning East just at the coast.

        1. Light gradient.
I never expected west wind today.
          Light variable, coastal sea breezes.
Prevailing direction is NE this morning, SE this afternoon. Coast will get into the 60s, immediate shore near 60. Everywhere else, 70+.

  15. Happy June!!!
What a gorgeous morning πŸ™‚ I put off painting the deck this weekend since I really need two full rain-free weekend days. Maybe, next weekend… we’ll see.
Instead, I’ve chose to work the gardens. I have a landscaping question regarding mulch and carpenter ants – I’m rather concerned about mulching a flower garden that abuts my house, where carpenter ants have already made their presence known. I’ve heard that cedar mulch deters ant/termites, but have also heard the opposite to such a claim. My question is which “organic” mulch is best at keeping carpenters at bay, if any? Thanks πŸ™‚

    1. If you take away their hammers and saws they won’t be able to do much damage. πŸ˜€

Seriously, I haven’t a clue. Perhaps Charlie or John can help you.

  16. The blog is updated and I will repost Longshot’s AccuWeather quiz there. πŸ™‚
