Dew Point Down

9:18PM

After a few eventful days with areas of tropical downpours and some localized severe weather, a cold front is finally, slowly, about to push offshore. A final wave of low pressure sliding up along the front from south to north will prolong showers over Cape Cod tonight. But starting Thursday, and likely lasting into early next week, high pressure will dominate, along with lower humidity Thursday-Friday, and low to moderate humidity over the weekend and early next week. We will have to watch a potential area of low pressure just to the south around Monday, in case it ends up a little further north than currently anticipated. But this forecast will take an optimistic route, and you’ll find a whole lot of nice weather in it.

And here it is, for southeastern New England…

TONIGHT: Lots of clouds, with some lingering showers Cape Cod. Slowly drying out but remaining humid over Cape Cod. Lows in the 50s well inland, 60s near the coast. Wind light N to NW.

THURSDAY: Early clouds Cape Cod, otherwise mostly sunny to partly cloudy with some pop up fair weather clouds. Less humid all areas. Highs middle 70s inland hills and Cape Cod to around 80 elsewhere. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows middle 50s inland valleys to lower 60s coast. Wind light NW.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 75-80 Cape Cod, 80-85 elsewhere. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Low 63. High 83.

SUNDAY: Partly cloudy. Low 63. High 83, cooler coast.

MONDAY: Partly sunny. Low 64. High 81, cooler coast.

TUESDAY: Partly cloudy. Low 64. High 84.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Low 65. High 85.

  1. Thanks TK. Watership down :). We have a baby rabbit that has been chasing squirrels so I like this title

  2. I enjoyed the rain today, but I would have liked it more if I didn’t leave my rain jacket at your house, TK. 😛

  3. Vicki and Ace,

The Hurricane names you posted are spot on ! And, I think I forgot the most recent one, Irene.

  4. Thanks TK.

So far so good with today’s weather.

    Now nothing cooking for awhile.

Some may disagree, but in my opinion any possible severe weather
threat around these parts ends on August 10. I’m sure there are
exceptions, but the latest date of anything close to a severe thunderstorm
around these parts that I can remember was August 9th. (Hurricanes excepted)

    1. Many instances after that. And this summer’s pattern in particular leaves us vulnerable.

      1. Sorry, I still don’t agree. 😀
But that’s ok, I’m free to do so.

Perhaps this year will show me that I don’t know so much
        at all. 😀

  5. I think it holds for Sunday my concern is Monday as a wave tries to develop under a high north of us.

    1. Thanks Hadi. Haven’t even looked that far ahead.
I have ALL I can do to deal with TODAY. 😀

  6. It appears that Alaska is now below normal for temps and will continue for the forseeable future according to the CPC. With few exceptions, that state has had above normal temps starting since last fall if I am not mistaken.

  7. A great day weatherwise down here in Williamsburg, VA. Highs in the mid 80s and comfortable humidity with a repeat performance tomorrow.

    1. Soooo glad to hear JJ. I wish you were on FB so we could see pics….or did I say that before. Enjoy…enjoy 🙂

  8. Sitting on the porch,,listening to the birds, watching the waning sunshine on the yard and listening to the incomparable mac Davis. What a perfect summer day.

            1. About a week to 10 days from now.

We are currently near Nags Head, NC for a few nights, then are booked into a campsite after crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge for a few more nights.

Then, it just depends if we drive home in 1 long day or stop somewhere else about halfway for a night.

              1. Sounds like you guys are having fun. I’m glad summer vacation is going well as you deserve it. Hey does having the summer off go by as fast as a week off lol. My 12 days flew by but was a lot of fun but tough to go back how do you get back into with an entire summer off , must be hard. Enjoy every minute of it.

                1. I feel refreshed and invigorated for Sept through Nov in the school year. Its good because early in the year is so good for establishing the tone of the year, there’s Open House, first set of parent-teacher conferences, so this very long break is helpful to the important start of the year.

Actually, 10 weeks seem long. I take mental break from school until about August 10th, then usually go into the school, set up my room, open my text books at home and mentally start preparing for the school year.

                2. The other best part of a long summer break is when I get to the point that I do now know what day of the week it is.

My wife and I have been experiencing that on this trip. It truly is rewarding, because from Sept to June, everythings hectic and we always are so tuned into what day, date and time it is.

I love that checking out feeling of not knowing the exact day and just letting one day pass into another without always having some task(s) to be attended to one after the other. Just being kinda checked out. 🙂

                1. Thanks, we are. Its been awesome.

On the weather side, I really didnt appreciate how humid it can get down here. Holy moly !

But, its nice and refreshing tonight.

                2. It was really bad here too this week. Worse here this week than it was in Jamaica for us last week!

  9. Those showers that popped up over RI and in the SW suburbs of Boston were an interesting surprise. There was marginal instability today and nobody had them in the forecast, and something triggered them.

      1. That model typically forecasts convective showers that do not occur. This time it was correct.

    1. I was on 95 for that. So strange. Huge downpour between north attleboro and mansfield. Had to pull over at one point. Heavier rain than at any point last 3 days

      1. I am guessing Charlie had something to do with it. He obviously works for HAARP. 😉

    1. Thanks Vicki !

In the northern Outer Banks, it seems like their might be a lot more wealth.

There’s one arching bridge that at its apex, you look down and see beautiful homes surrounded by state of the art docks that have these large yachts docked in front of these houses.

      1. I am really looking forward to pics. You are not far from JJ I think. The chesapeake bay bridge is a treat on its own. Will you stop at Chincoteage ?

          1. That (misty of Chincoteague) sounds interesting. I’ll run that by my wife.

We’ve had the good fortune to get to Chincoteague and Assateague twice in the last few years. Another beautiful spot and the kids loved the wild horses.

I think we’ll probably by pass that this go around.

            1. I remember you have been there. But the books and movies are great for young girls …..and old ones too. I think the last was twilight and I read it in my 40s 🙂

    1. could care less if it rains on sunday and monday. keept it nice for saturday, wednesday thursday friday. I work those days 😉

  10. Nam has backed from copious amounts but still bring precip to the cape. Euro has nothing and gfs has some showers around for Sunday.
