  1. Thank you for the update TK. We decided to head to Belmont for the parade and picnic. What was left of the line of storms when it got that far east literally split in two and went north and south of us. My kids were convinced it was my moms doing:)). When she was alive it was important to her that we all go 😀

  2. I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day. It was fun having a cookout with my family and even planted flowers today near the mailbox which I could not see back in January when the snow banks were above it.
Attention turning to Wednesday and thunderstorms which could turn severe in places. The storm prediction center has us in a slight risk for Wednesday. On the thunderstorm index I am going with a 2 for now which is MODERATE Level Activity but as I said last night we could be coming close to a 3 which is SEVERE Level Activity.

    1. We do have to watch it but I have a feeling we’re going to see a strong line over central and western New England that’s going to crap out when it gets into eastern MA. It may be too warm aloft and too stable in lower-middle levels to sustain both linear and isolated convection.

      1. TK that’s fine with me since I don’t particularly like thunderstorms…keep us posted as always Jimmy! 🙂

  3. Beautiful weather day today, following a really nice weather weekend. Impressed that Mt. Washington is back up to 55F, quite a warm airmass above. I really am enjoying that the weather completely switched from early spring to mid summer.

    1. Tom do you do a lot of camping in the Mt Washington area? I grew up skiing there in the winter and fishing in the summer. My son heads to the area every chance he can get to camp.

      1. Hi Vicki.

Yes, within the region……..mostly in the North Conway area. We then use that as a location from which to take our kids over to Story Land and other activities.

  4. My latest thinking is tommorrow (Wed), we could be in store for a rocky afternoon with severe tstorms, I even think that most of the area will go under a severe tstorm watch but esp west of Boston, the main threat looks to be small hail and gusty straight line winds, I said it here I would not be surprised to even hear reports of a small tornado somewhere in the northeast, have a good day 🙂

    1. I don’t want a tornado but I do enjoy thunderstorms. And it is an absolutely glorious day.

    1. Severe weather can happen any month. We’ve seen tornadoes in October (Woburn 1925, Windsor Locks 1980, to name 2), had at least 3 occasions I can remember of tornado watches in November, and tornadoes of significance have also occurred in May (Great Barrington MA). Don’t forget the New England tornado outbreak of 1986 (August 6-8). This included the Bedford MA tornado of which I have pictures.

I think tomorrow will be a lame outbreak, in that most of the Boston Area may not even see anything more than rain showers. There will be very little support from low level jet, moisture feed, vorticity, and it will be too warm aloft, and too stable due to a wind that has trouble shifting fully to SW until it’s too late.

This is good news unless you love big boomers. 🙂

      1. Of course severe weather can happen anytime, it can snow in May but has it, and we can get a hurricane anytime in summer but last time that happened I was 20, anyways I respectably disagree I think there will be just enough support to issue a box along with some severe weather esp west of Boston, as always ur one of the best and have a greaaattt day 🙂

  5. That back door cold front that came through last night made today a beauty.
It seems after Wednesday, the temps will be a tad below normal for a change, but the sun will be out at least. 🙂

Most forecasts for the NAO point to it tanking in the near future, which hopefully doesn’t lead to another cool and raw period.

  6. Moderate Level Thunderstorm Activity tomorrow with isolated severe weather quite possible. I would favor the interior for that to happen and I would expect a severe thunderstorm watch to be posted sometime tomorrow for parts of SNE. The front currently in the Midwest with two severe thunderstorm watches with a few warnings inside those watch boxes.
