Spring Swing

7:27AM

SUMMARY…
We’ll see some significant temperatures swings in the days ahead, but the overall pattern will remain on the drier side. There are no big changes to the previous update. Weak high pressure dominates today, giving way to a low passing south of the region tonight and early Friday which may bring some rain to southeastern MA and parts of RI. A cold front drops down from the north during Friday bringing a threat of showers and introducing a quick shot of very cool air to start out the Memorial Day Weekend early Saturday. Quick temperature recovery follows by Sunday, the Monday holiday, and early next week, but with some risk of showers and thunderstorms by Monday into the middle of next week as a frontal system will be in the vicinity.

  1. Thank you TK.

Ho Hum Weather. Nothing extreme one way or the other.

    We’ll take it.

    Thanks again.

  2. Happy Birthday, Hadi!

    And Thanks, TK.

Hoping to do spring-cleaning soon – taking out summer clothes. Just doesn’t feel warm enough yet to think about shorts and cotton skirts.

  3. 00Z EURO is warm for next week, days 6 thru 10 have 850 mb temps @ +15C.

12Z GFS is also warm in that time period, similarly with 850mb temps @ 12 – 15C.

  4. So entering drought conditions and a freeze especially up north tomorrow night.

Freeze dried early crops coming up! ๐Ÿ˜›

  5. Gfs has warmth next week, Tuesday through Saturday with highs in the 80s, touching
90 one day. Abruptly ends Sunday.

    We shall see.

    1. Euro, ditto with 850mb temps 17-20C on Wednesday.

That equates to a possible 90-95 at the surface. We shall see IF it gets that
      hot, but it is possible.

  6. Of course with the heat and humidity coming got to see if we get some thunderstorms to fire up especially if there is a trigger along with no CAP.

  7. Pete says HHH pattern setting up next week with frequent thunderstorms which could put a serious dent into the current drought conditions now into the “Moderate” category. We will see.

    1. Scattered thunderstorms like that don’t usually alleviate drought in most areas. We need a widespread region-wide slow soaking rain

  8. I listen to TK and Harvey and Barry and Pete and all ……

But I do check in to Taunton as well and their afternoon discussion today is very confusing …..

It feels like they are off by a day …

Its going to rain …… Saturday ????? …… I thought were under high pressure and sunny.

    Maybe I’m reading it wrong.

  9. Hoping Sunday remains rainfree. Grand #3 is finally having third bday with a bounce house.

  10. 100% sun Saturday.
    75% sun Sunday, no rain.
50% sun Monday, slight chance of showers.

  11. Today was so nice outside… Went to Anthony’s Pier 4 in Salem right on the water, Had some amazing sea food. Had scallops , and tried samples of some different types of fish.. I liked all of it… This is all do to me graduating from MCC today with Liberal arts and science with environmental science concentration… Now onto U mass Boston to do environmental science/marine

    1. Congrats! Glad you liked the sea food too. I’m a big fan of just about all of it myself.

  12. Regarding that BOX forecast discussion: Looks to me like the latest 2 versions somehow got last week’s discussion appended to it. Everything about that part of the discussion says this was for the weekend of May 16-17 and into the following Monday (May 18).

  13. The 850mb temps continue to be very impressive next week.

I think I see a few days on the EURO where it may be even slightly higher than 15C.

  14. Nantucket received a bit more than .38 and Chatham a bit more than .23 inch of rain overnight.

  15. Good morning.

    1. Happy Birthday Hadi!
    2. BB says 92 for Wednesday.
    3. Absolutely PERFECT DAY out there so far today. Truly amazing! We are blessed!

    4. And finally, if I may, after thinking about what Kraft said and listening to many
Sports talk show hosts and columnists, I am still out to lunch as to what the bleep
he was doing. On the surface it sure looks like he has done a complete about face
and has joined Bill in throwing Tom under the bus and stomping on him to boot.

The ONLY ONLY thing that makes what Kraft did tolerable is if there is a deal for a complete rescinding of the Tom’s suspension. Has to be ZERO games, else what Kraft did was useless!!! Listening to Goodell, sure does NOT sound that way.

    We shall see.

    1. OS – not surprisingly, I agree with everything you said about Kraft.

And I am not sure JR mentioned temps but said if you like HHH, this upcoming week will be nice for you.

      1. After thought. If you watch Goodell when he is asked directly if he made a deal with Kraft for Brady, he fidgets, says no, looks everywhere but at camera, looks down and then is blinking like crazy when he looks back up. Me thinks he may not be being exactly straightforward.

  16. TK – Is the HHH pattern for next week one that will last for weeks on end much like the cold & snowy pattern that began back in late January and never really let up until fairly recently?

Also looking forward to your Summer Outlook soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. It will be here often but interrupted by a jet stream delivering numerous disturbances and quick air mass changes.

      1. TK are you expecting increased rounds of Severe Weather as a result of the changing air masses?

  17. Will Brady’s suspension eventually be reduced or status quo? I am not having a good feeling about that…hopefully I am wrong.

    1. I do not think it can go to nothing. I’m guess two at most and possibly one. It will be on obstruction and not tampering…..just my guess.

      1. Been reading a lot of articles from pro QBS and most say there is no way Brady did not know as he would be the first . Most saying he cheated and knew it.

        1. Just show me the absolute proof and I’ll be right there with you. I have yet to hear one person say anything that included proof….just speculation.

And John, do you remember the Carolinas (last November) and the Chargers (2012) who tampered with balls? Do you remember what their penalty was?

          1. That sounded like a challenge. It is just meant as a question because I’m curious if you do remember off the top of your head. I’m actually wondering how many remember.

          2. I don’t remember. I’m just the messenger it’s what I have been reading. His support network from around the league is not that great

            1. But you proved an exceptional point. And I am not faulting you for that. Very few remember that last November Carolina was caught (fact) heating balls on the sidelines. They were asked to please stop. The Chargers in 2012 were caught (fact) using towels to put a sticky substance on the balls. They were fined $25,000 which is the amount under league rules that a team/player is to be fined for first offense ball tampering.

Even if Brady did something…this is so far out of proportion as to be laughable.

As far as other teams….stinks to be jealous and their reasoning is so biased that is is beyond sad.

I’ll let it go and thank you because I hope that, if nothing else, people can remember that when this happened twice very recently nothing was done.

    1. Nobel prize winning chemist says data in Wells report is bunk. There is no proof of a deflated ball and, remember, the Colts balls were also under regulation.

  18. Mr. Toleris is laying it on thick. Predicts big heat wave next week.

***** ALERT *** EARLY SEASON PROLONGED HEAT WAVE FOR EAST COAST LIKELY
FULL INFO on the NEW 3 WEEKEND FORECAST at 4-5pm
as I said LAST WEEK… I am saying this again.. the heat begins over TN valley and se states into VA MD DEL on Memorial day with temps 85-90.
BUT it really kicks in MAY 26 to MAY 31… and to JUNE 3 at least. We are taking Mid 90s at LEAST for a week from NC to BOS.
The temps you see on those smart phone apps or TWC or seem other idiot web site like accu wx or weather underground are WAAAAAY too low

    1. Nice to see we are reminded that it was said a week before anyone else and that “idiot” is still one of his favorite words. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  19. My lawn looks like mid summer. I checked certain areas for grubs and only got dust. Will there be some regular appreciatable rain coming in the next month? Are we going into a perlong drought? If so I will just turn to sprinkles off and save some money.

    1. Landscapers did spring cleanup today. It looked like rhe dust bowl. With all windows closed I swear if still got in cracks. We desperately need rain

  20. Looks like things could stand for Brady . Roger anounced he is
The only one who will hear the case refusing the unions
Request. I think things now will get interesting and would not
Be surprised if this lands in court.

    1. Nothing unusual. This is due to ocean currents. Water temperatures are seldom ever “normal”. They are usually above or below depending on the circulation.

  21. Buoys are currently 53.8 and 53.4 with NO East wind.

Moving on up and slowly getting there. ๐Ÿ˜€
