Thursday Forecast Update

7:28AM

DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 3-7)…
A rather strong cold front will slice through the region from north to south later today through this evening. Though this front may set off a few showers and thunderstorms, its greatest impact will be to bring a wind shift and significant temperature change with a short-lived by sharp shot of cooler air for Friday and the very start of the Labor Day Weekend. As the holiday weekend goes on, high pressure that sinks down behind the front from eastern Canada will continue to drift southward and eventually end up to the south, putting southern New England in a much warmer southwesterly air flow by Sunday/Monday.
TODAY: Patchy fog early otherwise hazy sun into midday then partly cloudy by afternoon through evening. Isolated showers and thunderstorms after 2PM southern NH and northern MA, after 4PM southern MA and RI. Highs in the 80s through early afternoon then a cooling trend from north to south by later in the day. Wind variable to W 5-15 MPH shifting to N then NE from north to south.
TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy. A few showers possible early. Lows 55-60. Wind NE 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy to start then clearing from northeast to southwest. Highs upper 60s eastern coastal areas, 70s elsewhere. Wind NE 5-15 MPH with higher gusts.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 48-56. Highs 76-84.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 52-60. Highs 80-88.
MONDAY – LABOR DAY: Partly cloudy. Lows 56-64. Highs 84-92.

  1. Thanks tk 🙂

It’s gonna feel cold Friday and Saturday morning with temps in the upper 40’s, and mid to upper 60’s while we are in Hyannis Friday. 🙂

I also read a wbz blog that was stating how 99% of people think of Sept as Fall, and Dec as winter. I’m one of them. 🙂

      1. Oh btw, last night Harvey said a good chance for cooling
sea breezes along the East coast. We shall see.
Winds are light at 5 knots.

        1. Your cooling period will start tomorrow and end Saturday . I suspect you will not be liking the forecast that much starting Sunday but more Monday and beyond

          1. No I don’t like the forecast at all. It SUCKS!

This time of year, give me mid to upper 70s with cool nights thank you very much.

Take the SOUPY CRAP and send it to Florida.
            They can have it!

            1. We’ll hang in there . I love this weather so much but as I have mentioned before I feel bad for those who don’t deal with it well. It’s almost over.

  2. Thanks TK.
Going to enjoy the brief braeak tomorrow and Saturday.
When September 1st hits I want 3 H weather out of here and cool crisp days to begin. Just like when April 1st hits I am ready for spring to start as much as I love the snow.

  3. I would take temps in the 90’s with dp at 70 anyday and twice on Sunday’s over temps below 40 degrees 🙂

  4. I saw a segment this morning on msnbc stating many folks in the east will be experiencing 80’s well into October 🙂

  5. Great news for Brady! The question now is…does the NFL scramble to appeal. My guess is they do if they haven’t already.

  6. I would be surprised if they didn’t appeal. To me the NFL you already embarassed yourself why run the risk of embarassing yourself more. Drop this let the games begin next Thursday.

    1. You’re probably correct, however, Kraft should FIGHT like hell to get
the Million back and more importantly, the draft picks back!

Hey Bob Go get those FILTHY SCUM!!!! GET EM! GET EM! GET EM!!!!!!!!

    1. I am looking for a link. I have read all of the other documents so far….all gazzilion pages…and this will be the best so far.

          1. My skim indicates essentially judge saw a clear failure of due process under the Labor Relations Act and the League’s own guidelines. I know you will pour over this, so I am curious what you find.

  7. East Wind kicking up along the Coast.

Wind East at Logan as of 11AM. I just was out for a moment and can now
feel it here. Beginning to pick up pretty good.

    83.1 here.

  8. So glad in regards to brady as I said here within the week I felt this would be the case . The icing on the cake now should be getting those picks back and the money. Kraft is crazy if he does not do anything . Do it for the fans Kraft !!!!! I love the fact that right now so many people around the world are pissed right now because folks we really are not liked and that sucks but it is what it is. Look out league because the pats will be playing with a huge chip on there shoulders . GO PATS!!!!!!!!!!

  9. This whole defalategate was a complete joke and a farse of the highest degree. Most jealous Patriot haters are so upset right now, and I absolutely love it. Patriots always get the last laugh. Yes we have an ego, and there hatred and jealousy just makes our ego bigger. 🙂 Go Patriots!! Patriots can be the 1st team to go to there 9th Super Bowl. No one has been to that many. 🙂

    1. I don’t have an ego in the game. I don’t think most who stood by Brady did it for ego. I would have reacted the same if it were any player on any team. I deplore injustice. I also am not laughing at those who felt Brady was guilty…except maybe one who basically told me I knew nothing when I said Brady would take it to court….which is my bad. Everyone is entitled to an opinion except the one mentioned above 😉 . Remember, the judge didn’t rule Brady was completely innocent. He just ruled Goodell lacked fundamental fairness and violated some of the rules of the CBA.

  10. Isolated convective activity is about 1 hour behind what I expected, but otherwise is behaving as expected to far in that it’s isolated. Any storm can be briefly severe but most likely less than 1% of the population will see any “severe weather” by definition. And less than 10% of the people will see any shower or storm activity.

We’ll have to watch what goes on as it sinks to the south because there is marginal support into the evening but I don’t expect all that much for most of the region.

  11. IMO this should be left alone now and they should do nothing except play the games! The court crap is over other than NFL appeal (which will go nowhere). The Patriots’ loudest message will be delivered on the field, not in any court room. It’s the choice of the owner whether or not to pursue anything else but I say time to get back to the game!

      1. Vicki this crap happens everyday right in front of our eyes. It’s become part of the culture unfortunately. 🙂

        1. While that is true, you only see the fraction of a percentage of all people and don’t hear anything about the 99.8% of good people that would never do such a thing. The news is always going to tell you about the clown that would do that because, well, good people are just “not that interesting” … or to clarify, they don’t draw ratings. 😛

          1. Thank you TK…you are correct. Sadly, the sensationalism sells to those who don’t want to do their own research.

              1. Vicki? Nieve? I’d vote for her if she were running for Mayor in my city. Too bad she’s not a Woburnite. 😉

Vicki’s comment to me is on the money. Can’t argue that sensationalism sells most easily to those who educate themselves least. THAT is something we see daily. 🙂

              2. Why Charlie what made you think I would ever apply that comment to you. It was a generalization. I never thought of you as being thin skinned ??

  12. Re: NFL

My feeling is that Judge Berman has so carefully ruled and laid out the ruling
in very precise language that the NFL’s appeal will have no merit whatsoever.
Berman knew his decision would be appealed and made it as ironclad solid as he possibly could. In short, the decision will stand up to the appeal.

    Brady plays all year!

    YEAH for our side.

    The NFL can SUCK EGGS!!!!!!

    1. The second circuit has a 7.5% average of overturning. But it depends a lot on the three judges assigned. I would agree with you JPD. I just wish they would drop it and get on with football

  13. Oh my god the whole millis school shooting was concocted by the millis cop. He shot his own cruiser out. He has Been fired and is probably facing charges

  14. Love the Brady ruling. The whole thing was exactly what all of you have described. And love seeing the haters upset too. Expectations grow now though- no excuses anymore. Definitely have to prove it on the field. Go Pats!!!

Very warm and pretty humid in Plymouth, NH today. Lots of towering cumulus around and some storms, a couple with warnings, but nothing hit here.

    1. I’m wondering if this NimWit wasn’t texting or otherwise engaged on his
smart phone and crashed the vehicle and then shot at it and made up the story.
Dumb shit didn’t think of forensics at all. Pretty simple to tell that it was his
own gun that hit the cruiser. Just a thought any way.

  15. Patriots to me are like the Spurs in basketball the Cardinals in baseball where it feels every year they got a chance to win the whole thing and that is a good feeling to have for a team. I enjoy that feeling in the early to mid 90s with the Cowboys and hope that feeling returns soon.

    1. I do somewhat agree but the Cowboys of the early 90’s, and the Patriots are no comparison, Dallas was like that for 6 or 7 yrs, the Patriots have been like that for 15 yrs and counting 🙂

      1. I was trying make the point what a great feeling for a fan base for multiple years to have a team that could win a
championship. Obviously the Patroits string of consecutive years of having that feeling longer than the Cowboys
were in the early to mid 90s.
Cowboys will make the playoffs this year. I don’t see them as a Super Bowl team.

      1. I pretty much never do. It used to be OK, but that was about 2 years ago, though even then it had a tendency to over-develop low pressure areas.

  16. Goodel and the NFL office are out of their minds, TOTALLY!!!! check this out:

    By Christopher Price

Shortly after Judge Richard Berman made his decision in the Deflategate case Thursday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell issued the following statement through the league:

We are grateful to Judge Berman for hearing this matter, but respectfully disagree with today’€™s decision. We will appeal today’€™s ruling in order to uphold the collectively bargained responsibility to protect the integrity of the game. The commissioner’€™s responsibility to secure the competitive fairness of our game is a paramount principle, and the league and our 32 clubs will continue to pursue a path to that end. While the legal phase of this process continues, we look forward to focusing on football and the opening of the regular season.

    1. I guess Roger feels he hasn’t gotten enough bad press and wants more. There have been appeals like this before and by the time they are settled the player has already retired.

    2. They’re just mad because their little “plan” failed. Morons. How about they just pick up their game pieces and go home and get ready for the real reason this league exists.

    1. Those waves are always coming off Africa. That part is no surprise. The conditions are not favorable for anything to move along the typical CV path and survive. Not seeing that change any time soon.

  17. So the one good thing out of the day is that I got a lot of school things done. the bad, that includes 460 dollars in college books only about 150 for all the books but for chemistry which has 3 books and still have to go back and get the lab book. Chemistry stinks in more ways than one. The cool thing, the entire building was rumbling with the fact that brady won.
The commish is the worst in nfl history it was all ready a fact, I hope he gets fired and he looses all his money . He has been 0-5 in court cases, He believes beating a woman and child is just as bad as a few ticks of air pressure out of the ball, even though at the jets the game balls were put at 16 psi 😉
the rest of the nfl wants brady to serve, part of the reason why I think goodell went so far with this as now he kind of has his hands clean with the rest of the nfl as he upheld the suspension but then when it went to court it was not his decision to go to none. ( I guess the judge basically nullified the case and told the nfl to get lost lol

  18. Teddy B said it best tonight . It didn’t matter who it was but roger is making the league look horrible over something that just keeps getting wackier and wackier. The owners are pumping a ton of money into the NFL do they really want a commish that’s making there billon dollar baby a laughing stock . He needs to go but I believe he is under contract for another I think 5 yrs.

      1. I heard the thunder in NH earlier, was watching the radar, deemed it wouldn’t rain here, and watered the veggies. If I hadn’t watered them, it wouldn’t have rained. Vicki, if you could email yourself over, you could enjoy it with me! All my WHW family is always welcome 🙂

  19. The last shower in northeastern MA is just about rained-out. For the most part that’s it. Only a slight chance another shower or 2 fires along the frontal boundary as it sinks southward during the evening, then maybe a shower or patch of drizzle off the ocean pre-dawn to early morning before drier air arrives from the NE by late morning Friday. The afternoon will turn sunny but what a noticeable difference from today in regards to how the air will feel.

    1. It’s ok we have plenty of water, plus late next week looks like rainy times according to many outlets 🙂

  20. Today was the first day this week to me where the humidity was not tolerable and really felt it.
Feel bad for those kids and teachers in schools without AC. At least tomorrow will all enjoy a brief break.

    1. I’m reading the judges decision. It is anything but boring. massBay linked it above. I have about 15 pages to go

      1. We really enjoy the games. Although I think we use it as an excuse to plan a huge food spread. We are already planning for next Thurs. We have lettuce bowls on the menu so far and clearly have a lot more planning to do

  21. I love football but the only preseason game I will watch is the third preseason game the teams play since that is the dress rehearsal when the starters play the first half and a few series in third quarter.

  22. Drove down to Providence this afternoon. I observed no fall foliage at all. Just stress-related discoloration: Muted yellows, browns, droopy leaves. We’re in an extended, very dry period, folks, and it’s not looking pretty in SNE. It’s only going to get worse with the dry air this weekend and heat next week. CNE and NNE will be different, given that they’ve had sufficient rain, but around here it’s bad. The grass alongside the road looks California brown.

    1. Agreed Joshua. The smaller portions of the rivers here are dried up…and smaller is relative as the sudbury opens up to big lake size in wayland. The Charles watershed area in Holliston could have horses grazing on it, it is so dried up. Not good.

  23. Speaking of leaves they did a story here on WTNH here in CT on leaves being discolored and dropping due to the lack of rain.
Parts of southern CT are in moderate drought and meteorologist Gil Simmons said this morning he would not be surprised next week when the drought monitor is released parts of southern CT are in severe drought which is next level up from moderate. Its abnormally dry where I am.

  24. I had so hoped for rain today, alas almost nothing on the radar. Living in Back Bay, we need the rain to keep the pilings saturated with water. So aside from the vegetation there are other issues related to this prolonged dry spell.

        1. Sorry Joshua. Posting in spurts because I’m watching lightening. I’d like to know more about the pilings if you have a second. Thank you

And as I type. Poof. Darn

          1. Is that rain coming to Boston? Even if it’s a little.

I’m not an engineer, but am a trustee in our Beacon Street building. As you know, pilings are part and parcel of places like Back Bay, and most of the Netherlands: Dredged up land upon which buildings were constructed. The drier the pilings the greater the risk for the need to replace. And that’s super expensive.

            1. Thanks Joshua. I actually had no idea boston was on pilings. Silly of me I think

Everything looks to be moving north south. My radar for some reason is running 25 min behind. We have more thunder now but a dry thunder so far

  25. Its been a while since I have seen a thunderstorm here. A lot of the thunderstorms having been staying north of CT this year with the exception of June 23rd when that micorburst happened in parts of southern CT. The last one I saw was when I was in Hershey Park two weeks ago today.

    1. Not many in Boston, either. A few good ones, and of course the hailstorm. But, not as many T-storms as I’d like to see. The northern parts of our great region called New England have been getting pounded regularly with storms and plenty of rain. When I drive north to see my relatives in Vermont I see the difference, especially north of Concord: Happier trees, leaves, bushes, grass.

    1. I do see a few small cells on radar north of Boston and sort of moving in our direction. Perhaps some sprinkles and maybe a brief shower.

    2. Looks like a narrow but elongated band just east and perhaps touching Woburn might head south into boston

Where is OS. This is too stressful for me to figure out

  26. It is amazing the difference between an April/May seabreeze and a July/August/September one. Today’s breeze felt just as hot and uncomfortable as a land breeze would. UGH!

  27. It’s pouring all the way to the north Attleboro plainville line, a light shower to the house, can hear thunder and lightening

  28. Showers just keep popping. I don’t know whether to shut the windows or not.
So far ZILCH here, although we could occasionally hear some thunder.
