        1. I’m going to put this out there right now. Charlie and I had our battles back in the day. We’ve basically buried the hatchet while at the same time I still roll my eyes at some of his posts 🙂 In this case all it would have taken was some courtesy and respect on his part toward Vicki. Timely and respectful responses would have done the trick. My quiet two cents on the subject.

  1. I miss Vicki. Her positive attitude is something ALL of us can learn from. To handle her husband’s cancer with such grace, and to always be a voice of optimism and sheer joy. Her appreciation of our seasons – all four – is something that adds to our blog. Here’s someone who doesn’t harp on one season, but values what is best in all of our seasons. Vicki defines what is a true New Englander, in my opinion. I’m a curmudgeon by comparison: Hot and bothered by summer, and sullen and downcast in spring. What I would give to have Vicki’s faith in our weather and humankind.

Charlie, your views are known to all of us. I am fine with differences of opinion. I don’t mind the “spring is around the corner” banter with you when it’s January 3rd and winter’s just gotten started. But, what I do mind is your attitude on matters that are factual. This triggered Vicki’s departure from our blog. For example, to suggest that Hartford is not part of New England is like saying Obama isn’t American. It’s inaccurate and also off-putting. We have brains and know that Hartford is most definitely a part of New England.

  2. Bottom line is Tk just needs to toss the troublemakers whoever they may be. The warning system that he says he uses not working .

  3. Ok!! 1st the Hartford not part of New England is a joke that I thought most knew, and would recognize. Of course it’s part of New England. It’s like me saying winter starts December 1st, we know it doesn’t but yes I always say December January and February are winter, so on and so forth. 2nd yes I joke past that fine line, but it harmless joking, I understand I offend at times, but I don’t mean to be hurtful. 3rd, I’ve tried to message Vicki is a number of different ways to let her know to come back and that I’m sorry for if i offended her, and saying rooting for snow is bad, it’s obviously going to happen one way or another, and it’s silly to think that people that like snow are bad, and while I’m at it, let you folks know, that I will no longer be rude or obnoxious as I’ve got to learn to be courteous to all. Hopefully we can put it all behind, and Vicki, everyone wants you back, if it takes me to stay off for a few weeks, I will. Good day everyone 🙂

  4. I’m a bit confused…Charlie said Hartford is not apart of New England okay. Doesn’t mean it’s right just ignore the comment. I don’t know why everyone gets so upset about Charlie’s comments. I don’t have an issue with him. He doesn’t swear or attempt to degrade anyone he just says stuff… I personally will skip comments I don’t feel have any value to the blog can’t everyone else just do the same? Maybe I’m wrong but unless someone starts tearing another person apart or is using bad language why can’t they stay? It is a blog free speech right? It’s TK’s blog so do as you please. I just don’t think it’s really necessary to leave because someone says something thats kind of dumb.

    1. I just spit out my Coke that I was drinking…I needed that laugh..Thanks Charlie..er Weatherman LOL

          1. Didn’t have a CB, so I guess I never had to worry about that. The closest I came to any of this was
purchasing an old AM radio at auction for 25 cents while In High School.

I took that sucker home and wired it up to our
            TV antenna on the roof.

I kept a log of all of the stations I could tune in.
It was so powerful that New York City AM stations would come in clear as a bell during the day. I Didn’t have to wait for night.
I could pick up WKBW in Buffalo NY during the day. Anyone remember Joey Reynolds?

If I recall, the most distant stations I received were Denver, CO and San Antonio, TX.

So, yes, I can understand completely the interest

            1. My first CB handle was “Rooftop” because we were using a portable radio that got horrendous reception except when we were on the roof of the garage…and I think it was Christmas Night.

My second handle was “Cyclone” (around 1980).

My third and final handle was “Topkatt” which became “TK” starting about 1982 and going forward into the 1990s.

  5. TK, OK I need some input on 1) agricultural forecast entities, and 2) state forecasting entities. Is email OK?

  6. Snow season is slowly beginning in the Southern Rockies.

Here is a webcam photo from my adopted ski area in Arizona, Arizona Snowbowl
located about 12 miles North of Flagstaff and about a 2 hours drive North of
    Phoenix.

Here is a site that dramatically shows the effect of elevation on temperature and weather. One can chose 12,000+ feet, 9000 feet or 6000 feet and see
the forecast for each level. It’s pretty cool.

  7. I miss Vicki already and my hope is that she returns by months end. I hate it when one person ruins it for the entire group. 🙁

I also hope that TK will reconsider and continue to post answers to questions or comments here. It feels like TK is leaving his own blog. 🙁

    1. Not going anywhere. Just reorganizing some stuff and doing some research.

Though I’m about to go out for the evening for dinner, The Voice, and The Bruins so the blog will be set aside for a few hours other than when I can give a quick mobile check.

  8. In JPDave style, I leave you for a while with this insane tune from the latest Toto album that came out earlier this year.

Oh you think these guys stopped after “Rosanna” and “Africa”? That was 1982. They’ve been making music ever since and here is a masterpiece from 2015…

    1. Interesting tune. Thanks

      Enjoy your evening. 😀

Headed out for a few errands shortly, then home for Chicago PD and the news.
When the Bruins get better, then I might watch them. They had me a few years back and then lost me again.

  9. As for the snowfall contest, I will only post a number for Boston (Logan) if it is OK with everyone here. I have enough difficulty with coming up with an amount for Boston let alone other locals in SNE. 😀

    1. Ah come on you can do it. Take a bunch of numbers and place them
on a cork board or wall somewhere and toss a dart for each city. Whatever number it lands on is your guess. 😀

I’m mainly concentrating on Boston, then I’ll make the appropriate
adjustment for each of the other cities. More for Worcester, less for Providence and a crap shoot for Hartford as it could go either way.

  10. I have some numbers in mind. There below normal snowfall. Just like last year I hope I am wrong and there above normal snowfall. Hope to get at least one or two good snowstorms.
