    1. I have always wanted to go to Salem this time of year, Tom. What a perfect day you had. I’m assuming you went through the House of Seven Gables. What a fascinating house. I remember a school field trip when I was very young and of course the secret staircase was the high point.

      1. We went through 2 witch museums and then spend about 45 minutes having lunch in the park and are already on the bus back to Marshfield at 12:30pm. Its quick, but fun.

The place you mentioned sounds good too !

  1. Thanks tk 🙂

What a absolute from beginning to end BEATDOWN by the New England Patriots. The score doesn’t even reflect how bad of a BEATDOWN it was. WOW!! 🙂

      1. I concur. Nice game all around.

For the most part, the Pats had an answer for the Miami
        Defensive line. Brady is unbelievable!!!

Nice to have Deon Lewis around. He’s special.

I know there are a couple of games (Giants and Broncos) that could give them trouble, but 16-0 is becoming more and more a distinct possibility.

To rub Goodel’s nose it in, I’d love to see the Pats go 16-0 again!
Love it! love it! Love it!!

        1. I want them to lose one. I felt that way in ’07 as well. It is an added distraction to be undefeated in the playoffs. One late loss to give the players a jolt and a clean reboot.

          1. Still to come ………. @Denver, @NY Jets, @Miami, @Giants and Philly at home (if they ever figure things out) … I really think a loss, maybe even 2 is in the cards.

  2. Skins vs.Pats time 🙂 how bad will be the beatdown. Skins are loaded with talent but we don’t stand much of a chance. If cousins doesn’t throw a pick they will keep it close otherwise it will get ugly.

    1. As I said on FB, Hadi, no game is ever a given so you just never know. And I’m hoping for a great game…..of course you know who I hope wins but still a great game would be wonderful. Last night I just enjoyed the game and liked not having to be on the edge of my seat 🙂

  3. Tweet from Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan. Good news to get those leaves raked and bagged and if your not a fan of cold and snow
Just looked at the Euro weeklies. Holy torch for November. Don’t expect any early season skiing!

  4. When the leaves are off the trees and I am done bagging them bring on the snow.
4 years ago today I was shoveling at foot of heavy wet snow. What a storm that was. I was driving through towns near where I live in CT and a lot of big tree branches and power lines down. This was the most destructive snow event I have seen in my life.

      1. Sure doesn’t sound like we will from what JJ posted but TK was alluding to snow sooner than we think. Did I miss an explanation of that comment??

  5. For the time of year that happened in October is what made it such a memorable storm for those who had to deal with the amount of snow that fell and power outages that last multiple days.

    1. In my memory it was comparable to the March 28 (TK keeps reminding me I have the wrong date so maybe 29), 1984 storm. There had been a storm around 10 inches on March 13, 1984, as well. But the leaves were starting to bud and the snow was wet for March. We heard the same noise of branches cracking and transformer arcing. Our power was out for about 4 days as was most of the area.

Oddly, I do not remember that type of damage with the April 29, 1987, storm which was about a foot in our area.

        1. hehe – I figured it was but my mind likes to think 28 so I will rely on you to correct me. At least I am remembering that it is probably wrong 🙂

          1. I remember that storm. I was working on Congress (Russia Wharf) at the time and I remember either the T Party ship or the barge that it attaches to broke away and drifted in the Fort Point Channel.

  6. Many school districts lost days because of that October snow, more because of power outages. The entire town of Foxborough was without power for nearly three days and schools were closed for three days. Bob Kraft donated generators to places in town.

Does any remember the dusting of snow this weekend last year? There was snow on the pumpkin (big, wet flakes) Sunday morning, November 2.

  7. The risk of early snow would be a quick digging shortwave trough coming over the top of the long wave ridge. It would be brief and melt quickly if it occurred.

  8. While November will start out warm I’m not seeing an especially warm period after, say, November 5th. Yet, I keep seeing news reports regarding November that suggest it will be well above average temperature-wise. What am I missing? I realize the Euro long-range projections weeklies are forecasting warmth, but I take those with a grain of salt, quite frankly. What I’m seeing in the models is basically temperatures hovering around average highs and lows. I think that some don’t realize that November’s average highs are in the 50s dropping to the 40s. Typically, Boston gets very little snow in November, and it’s not a particularly cold month, either.

Cyclone Chapala ni the Arabian Sea is a beast:

    1. Im just saying average high for my area or the southern third of the whw blog nov 1st is 60 degrees and at the end of November it’s 50 degrees. 🙂

  9. Seems like easternmost Mass has overachieved on temps today by perhaps 2-3F.

61F at Logan ….. I want to say I saw many 57F and 58F predictions for Boston today.

    1. I was think that when I was out at lunch. It seemed pretty mild to me
and my car thermometer was reading 60. 😀

    1. Scott thank you. You are so very kind to pass that along. That was the treatment Mac was having. Initially, it can flare Cancer until the immune system figures it out and starts fighting back. It has had amazing results and is the future I believe. Sadly, it not only flared Macs Cancer but spread it fairly significantly. No one,,,especially a Mac..,says they would have done anything differently. He was just dealt a lousy hand. So now we get him stronger and go to the traditional chemo. He was to have started it today but is just too weak yet. Soon.

  10. Good morning all. Battling a bit of a cold. A few days of achy body and stuffy, today it’s the razor throat. But it’s not stopping me from any of my weekend plans (except the early morning outdoor walk which I thought might irritate my throat a bit so I’ll make that up soon). Working on a new blog update now…
