Friday Forecast

7:29AM

DAYS 1-5 (DECEMBER 18-22)…
Wave of low pressure on departing cold front holds clouds over the region for a while today, including a little additional rain on Cape Cod, before the clearing trend begins later today. A decent shot of cold air comes in for this weekend bringing temperatures all the way back to near normal, which is quite an accomplishment for the pattern we’ve been in! A few snow showers are possible Saturday and sunshine will dominate Sunday. Turning milder early next week and a disturbance may cause a few showers most likely Tuesday.
TODAY: Mostly cloudy through midday including a risk of some rain Cape Cod. Partly sunny later in the day especially Boston west and north. Highs in the 40s. Wind W to NW increasing to 10-20 MPH with higher gusts late in the day.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows in the 20s. Wind NW 10-20 MPH and gusty.
SATURDAY: Partly cloudy. Isolated snow showers. Highs in the 30s. Wind NW 15-25 MPH and gusty.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows in the 20s. Highs in the 40s.
MONDAY: Partly sunny. Lows in the 20s. Highs in the 50s.
TUESDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of rain showers. Lows in the 40s. Highs in the 50s.

DAYS 6-10 (DECEMBER 23-27)…
Chance of rain December 23. Chance of rain showers early December 24 and again early December 25 with a series of disturbances, but much of the time will be dry. Very mild Christmas Eve December 24, windy and cooler on Christmas Day December 25. Fair and mild December 26. Chance of rain later December 27 as a wave of low pressure gets close.

DAYS 11-15 (DECEMBER 28-JANUARY 1)…
A stretch of fair and mild weather is likely to end out December 2015.

  1. Thanks TK !

    +12, 14, 13 and 13 …. Yesterday’s temp anomalies at the 4 major climate reporting stations.

This daily report will be taking a break Sunday and Monday morning, but will return next Tuesday. 🙂 🙂 🙂

I am rooting for the Carolina Panthers. They have a QB who will be great for the next 10 years, an awesome defense and am rooting for them to attain an undefeated season. I just don’t understand how you could be rooting for anyone else …… 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

    1. Hahaha. In that case I will have to root for them also because it is the only right thing to do 😆

And doubled over laughing re daily report.

    2. Well, for one, I am rooting for Tom Brady and the Pats.
I could give a crap about the Panthers. I hope they lose.

      re: Daily Report
LOVE IT! Don’t stop over the weekend, unless of course you just can’t get
      to it.

Since it’s been so mild, only wish we would smash the all time December
temperature record. Eric says we are destined for a top 5 finish. We shall see.

      1. Me too Jp Dave, I guess I’d better stay a teacher and not attempt being a humorist. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

I thought New Orleans had Carolina beat 2 weeks ago, but to no avail. I’d love to see the irony of the Patriots vs an undefeated Panthers team in the Super Bowl, with the Pats winning of course.

  2. Thank you TK.
For some reason this blog seems to be on a positive roll.
Vicki, thank you for the feedback re iPad options.

    1. Now that was funny. I think I’d call it rambling rather than feedback 😉 Good luck and I’ll be curious to know what you decide when you actually find someone who can give you coherent advice !!

  3. I do think I see a few subtle differences for the very long range from what’s been seen the last month.

Looks like there are signals for Canada turning somewhat colder.

While the overall flow aloft probably will still be from the southwest, having colder air to our north …. and with it being colder, more dense air, it might have a decent chance at sinking southward into New England at low levels.

Perhaps some ice, sleet scenarios a couple weeks from now, especially inland ???? Just throwing that out there as a pure guess.

  4. Sorry about the duplicates. I was on mobile while waiting for my Desktop to load.
I don’t know if it’s wordpress or the Samsung s6 phone? I think it is wordpress, because
    the phone is fine.

  5. Chemistry is now over i can come out of my room and lift my head out of that stupid book. Next semester is chem 2, then i never have to look at a chem book again. I rather physics. Now I can get into the X-mas spirit , only thing lacking is the snow. Though like the past few weeks the gfs is hinting at snow opportunities. It is there but we need some drastic atmospheric changes in order to get some snow. I really want to go skiing this winter. I was planning on going this weekend to celebrate but wachusett is closed

  6. Word Press is definitely acting up.

I press it continually from my desktop and nothing.
Only differences is it doesn’t post duplicates from Desktop but does from Mobile.

  7. No signs of much cold or snow. Tk what are the chances we break the record for latest snow accumulation in a season? Thank you in advance 🙂

    1. I am not TK of course, but I would say the chances are quite good, unfortunately. I believe the record for latest snow accumulation is 1/13/2000. I wouldn’t be shocked to not see any until early February. El Niño just won’t give up.

  8. Well, it’s dismal outside. Mild, yes. But, this has been a month with little sun. It’s the flip-side of a mild, zonal flow. So, although JP Dave is correct when he repeatedly says “Here comes the rain,” I’m going to take an optimistic approach, and hope that tomorrow brings us a sunny, brisk day. I’ll do this by repeatedly writing “Here comes the sun,” per Lennon and McCartney, 1968:

Here comes the sun little darlin’
    Here comes the sun
I say, It’s all right, it’s all right

Here comes the sun little darlin’
    Here comes the sun
I say, It’s all right, it’s all right

    Little darlin’ its been
A long cold and lonely winter
    Little darlin’ it feels like
    Years since you’ve been here

Here comes the sun little darlin’
    Here comes the sun
I say, It’s all right, it’s all right

    Little darlin’ the smiles
Have returned to the faces now
    Little darlin’ it seems like
    Years since you’ve been here

    Little darlin’ its been
    A long cold lonely winter
    Little darlin’ it feels like
    Years since you’ve been here

    Here comes the sun
Aren’t you glad to see it
    I say, It’s all right

Here comes the sun little darlin’
    I say, It’s all right

Little darlin’ here comes the sun, yeah

  9. TK – Does Buffalo finally see accumulating snow this weekend? I hear that some locals will be buried in “feet”.

    1. Likely with a westerly flow and cooler temps (around freezing), and of course the lake isn’t frozen. I also expect some snow in the Adirondacks and perhaps Green Mountains. Very little, however.

I also am beginning to think we may break all-time records for latest accumulating snows. I’m sorry that I’ve thrown in the towel, but there just isn’t any cold air around. Cool this weekend, but certainly not cold.

    1. Even with a change over, it would be nice.

Here is where TK comes in and warns of red flags etc etc etc.

2 consecutive runs. That is something.

Waiting for 0Z run to take it away. 😀

          1. Charlie, I think Vicki was responding to your question regarding changing your total snowfall.

The answer is still NO!!! 😀

  10. I sure hope Brady plays on Sunday. I have two little boys that will be awfully disappointed to not see him in person.

    1. He probably will.

I think the questionable on the injury report more has to do with the rules for the injury report and how a player has to be listed when they do not practice.

  11. 0Z GFS took away the 12/29 snow and ditched the coastal in favor of a full blown
Lakes Cutter. So there you go. Hopes DASHED once again. Still a long way off, so who knows, but trend is your friend. Bet on NO SNOW.

  12. Yesterday’s anomolies …… +12F, 11, 12 and 12F.

I’ve jokingly said, not thinking it possible, that we deserved a month that offset the -10 to -15F temp anomolies of last February. ….. I didnt think it would only take 10 months to happen.

    1. 😀

Will we still be positive today OR slightly below average. Ahh that is the question.

Boston currently sits at 37. Higher than forecast.
What was temp just after midnight? 42?

Close today, slightly below tomorrow and then above for the rest of the month???
