Had to turn heat on last night for the first time in weeks.

Is it looking as it Rudolph won’t be needed in the northeast and we will be able to see Santa across the near full moon???

  4. Good morning and thank you TK. Had a late night (Christmas Party).
Slept in the latest in a long, long, long time. Yawn. Oh well.
No, Not hung over. I do not imbibe.

GO PATS! Hope Brady plays. We shall see.

    1. By Christopher Price

Despite the fact that both were missing from practice on Friday, both Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski arenโ€™t expected to miss Sundayโ€™s game against the Titans.

  5. B A B for the trivia
My UGH Meter is officially at a 10 right now since Cowboys are eliminated from playoff contention and no snow for Christmas and looks like we won’t see snow through early January.

    1. I don’t think so. Ridge flattens out a little faster than forecast by the models and we begin “cool” advection (albeit weak) from the west during the day. That said, VERY mild day.

  6. They still had a small sliver of hope and were mathematically in it until after last night’s game. If Cowboys won and Redskins Eagles Giants lose were only game back with two to play and playing Redskins at home on final day of the regular season.
We were in a lot of games despite Romo and Bryant missing a lot of season and were a play or two away from having a better record than 4-10 at this point.

    1. There problems are much much more than just injuries jj, they need a new coach? New qb, heart, and winners, they are a loser organization, and it showed almost every close game. Just my opinion:)

  7. We need to get a back up QB who is dependable. Cassell is not it and Kellen Moore although moved the ball down the field threw three interceptions including one in the end zone when the Cowboys were inside the 10 yard line. The defense is decent but need to get a running back like a Demarco Murray to go with a good offensive line.
It will be interesting who we draft. Even if we didn’t have the injuries in my opinion we were a team that is a playoff team and could make a little noise in the playoffs like last year but not a team who could make a deep run to a Super Bowl.

  8. JJ, you’re right in your player assessment. But, I think it all starts at the top. Ownership and GM have not done a good job in drafting, signing, and trading. They’ve also allowed a bad chemistry to fester for too long with some good players with severely flawed characters: Greg Hardy and Dez Bryant being prime examples. But to make things worse they’ve held on to a bad coach. His play-calling has been poor, in my judgment. If he were to be fired I don’t think he’d land an NFL coaching job. Maybe I’m being too harsh, but he’s among the worst in the NFL, I think.

And, I am with you 100% on the UGH meter with regard to weather. We can’t even dream about a kitchen sink storm at this point. I know many love the idea of 65F+ on Christmas Eve, but I’d rather not see Santa in shorts and sandals.

    1. All of my nieces and nephews only know Dallas as a very bad football program, the oldest is 25, the youngest is 5.

        1. I honestly don’t hate Dallas, however over the last 5-10yrs, many of there fans or there organization think they are part of something when essentially they have been in irrelevance for many many generations, that’s all. But no I don’t hate them. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. For me this season, it’s all about perspective. When I was younger the weather used to “matter”. I would be the one to say “I hate this, it doesn’t feel like Christmas” etc. I don’t take away anyone’s right to have that opinion and state it. It’s perfectly fine. But for me, through the years, I just started learning to enjoy whatever it was we were dealt. I was just happy to be here to enjoy it.

This year that became even more the case as I watched my Dad decline in health and then pass away in September. Though it is sad that we now go forward without him physically present, we do not have to go forward without him still with us in many ways. Tomorrow, his headstone is being installed after a delay. Mom is very happy about this. I have decided that this year, instead of buying a new wreath and putting a new bow on it like we have done for our other relatives’ graves, I am going to take an old wreath that my father made himself that is in the garage, along with its worn decorations, and tie that to the stone for the remainder of the season. For me, it’s very symbolic of all that he put into everything while he was with us. Many of the things he built and/or fixed up are still with us and will remain with us for many years. When I think of all of this, the weather just doesn’t matter. If it’s 70, 60, or -20 on Christmas Eve, I’m going to be happy to just be here with my family and all the memories of Dad and my oldest brother.

To even further the point, this morning my friend’s daughter passed away at age 5 after a 4-month battle with DIPG, a nasty and aggressive form of childhood cancer. The only good I can see from this event is that the girl is no longer suffering. I know in time her mom and dad and younger sister will be healed and move forward, but I can’t even imagine what they are going through right now. It’s one thing to lose an older relative that has lived a full life, but that poor girl never had a chance. You have to believe that somehow there is a higher power and reason for an event like that, and that somehow there was a purpose for all of this – but it is hard to do that. We can only have faith.

I don’t mean to make this a negative post and put anyone in a sad mood. It’s a beautiful day today and I hope all of us can enjoy it the best we can. I’ll be taking a walk with my son through the woods of Stoneham MA during the Pats game while I have it playing quietly in my ears (listening is as good as watching for me). Tonight, some Christmas specials and It’s A Wonderful Life are on my agenda. And the title of that movie says it. It is a wonderful life, despite some of the things that go on to make it seem not so wonderful. But you have to make it what you want and we all have that ability.

Good day readers. I’ll be back later to comment on the Pats game and of course the weather. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. TK my heart aches for your friend. No one should lose a child. There is no good or easy time of year but at this time especially I also cannot imagine their pain. I don’t understand it, but do believe there is a greater power and plan.

Not surprisingly, like you, when younger I would have be wishing for snow and cold for Christmas. Like you also I am simply happy for every day I have and all of the wonder it brings.

I love that you are placing your dads wreath on his headstone. Those “worn decorations” are part of your dad. His hands touched and formed and put love into them. Hugs to you and to your mom.

    2. TK, nice story about your Dad and an awesome way to remember him.

I am sorry about the passing of your friend’s daughter. Cancer is horrible at any age but 5 is awfully young. My daughter’s friend has been battling brain cancer for 4 years now. She has been a real trooper and will continue fighting and has the biggest smile on her face every day. I hope they can find a cure for all the different types of cancer sometime soon.

  10. Hi TK,

Thank you for sharing! I will pray for you and the family that just loss their precise daughter.

Where did you get your fathers monument if you don’t mind me asking?

  11. Tk, I don’t know how you do it, but you seem to put joy into an otherwise very sad time.
    Please teach us how.

    1. I just love life and observing my world. And I just naturally focus on all things positive. I don’t ignore the fact there are bad things but I just believe the good can and will overcome them.

      1. Kelly’s Heroes (1970):
Oddball (the tank driver): “Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don’t you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?”

I love that character, played by Donald Sutherland.
TK – you are righteous and hopeful!

  12. Very late tomorrow night, 11:48 pm to be exact, is the darkest moment of the year.
Then we start to get our light back. Very slowly, at first. But we get it back.
Light always defeats the darkness. In everything.
    Always.

  13. Watching John Lennons 75th birthday bash from Madison Square. So many years later, he is still touching millions.

    1. Thanks Longshot. #2 Mac would not have been happy had I not gotten that correct. I guessed at the other two ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. From his perch in heaven Mac’s happy to see you happy, Vicki. He’s not judgmental. He only wants you to be contented.

        1. Hehehe but he is a prankster. We have all sorts of lights and music and heat, etc going on and off here. And you are right…judgemental was never part of his vocabulary. But looking at me as if I hadn’t been listening was rightfully perfected ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. TK, thank you for posting the moving story about your father. And, I am very sorry to hear about your friend’s child’s passing. While life is good, and we should all take advantage of the moments we have on this earth of ours, a child dying of cancer is so completely and utterly unfair and unfathomable. So awfully painful for the parents to endure and process.

  16. Speaking of football, how about some love for my Skins. If hey beat Philly they win the division. I know they are mediocre but you never what could happen. I need something decent to go my way in life so might as well be football ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. I give the Redskins credit there playing good football and look right now to be the team that is going to emerge from a not so good NFC East.

    1. Hi, Hadi – I don’t know if you saw my post to you a few days ago, so I will repeat it. It’s simply that I am glad to see you back on the blog! ๐Ÿ™‚

    2. A struggle may seem great to one and small to another. Perception and perspective can vary so greatly. The important thing is finding support. And equally important in my opinion is that I believe, though we have the choice, we all have an obligation to reach out to others when we can help them, however small the amount of help may be. Just let someone know you care, even if you can’t directly do anything for them. Sometimes that’s enough…

  18. TK, words cannot describe how beautiful your post was. I am sorry about your friend’s daughter and I will pray for her. And it is a beautiful thing you are doing for your father’s grave. The weather may not be what we want but there is beauty in the weather no matter what – and beauty in everything if you look for it.

    1. If you’re working outside today get ready for wind gusts 35-45 MPH in your area especially late morning to mid afternoon.
