Going Downhill

10:58PM

Don’t let the headline scare you. We are not heading into a long-lasting period of crappy weather, just heading into a few days of unsettled weather and below normal temperatures. I already see a nice stretch of weather following this. And the coming weekend will not be a total loss, in fact, it may end up quite nice overall.

High pressure is hanging on, battling with approaching low pressure from the west. A warm front will position itself just south of New England later Wednesday, Thursday, into Friday.  Warm and muggy air south of this front will be riding up and over relatively cooler, drier air we have had in place over us, and this will lead to mostly cloudy, showery conditions from later Wednesday night, off and on through Friday. A cold front will try to sweep it all out of here late Friday, but it will take until a second front passes on Saturday to really get things moving.

Details forecast for the Boston area…

  1. Thanks for the update! Hoping that the weekend ends up being decent at least Sunday looks pretty nice and hoping Saturday clears up. Not sure if anyone saw but WWA was up the other day in the Vail area. Interesting to see that So late in June.

  2. Showers starting to pop up across parts of SNE but I am noticing a line of storms just west of the Hudson River Valley moving east. These are strong thunderstorms and not severe ones but that looks impressive for this early in the day. Will see if that survives the trip to SNE as it continues to move east. As I said yesterday I would not be surprised to see embedded thunderstorms across SNE the next couple of days but I am not expecting severe weather at this time.

  3. TK – thanks for the blog and hope your father is feeling better.

As I have said before, I don’t mind a few days like this at this time of year – just to mix things up a little. I like the HHH but as long as there is a breeze to move the air around but a few rainy and cool days like this makes one appreciate it when the sun comes out!

  4. The line of showers and thunderstorms I mentioned earlier weakening but don’t be surprised to hear a rumble of thunder but no severe weather.

  5. As dark and gloomy as it has been all morning and as of this posting, it is not chilly in the least in spite of a very light ocean breeze here in Boston. No light jacket or sweater necessary for now anyway. I do wish though that it would just downpour and get it over with. Not bad temp wise for the first full day of summer, but the sky puts November to shame…yuck! 🙁

  6. I wonder if they (at Fenway) try to play through the rain a bit more than usual. I’m thinking getting San Diego back in here to make up a cancelled game is going to be tough.

  7. Hey TK! WHAT A GREAT FORECAST! BAHAHAHA!

I blew this one. Held out hope that the ridge would be able to hold the rain off for most of the day, and it just blasted itself right on in here. Tweaking the blog now.
