  1. TK. Thanks for the update. I was thinking as I read it if how much time and effort it takes on your part to keep this blog going. I know I’ve said it’s the first and pretty much only place I now go for weather but just thought it was worth repeating and saying thank you again. I should also mention that this is the best group of people on any blog I’ve been on 🙂

  2. Thanks Vicki! Stay with the blog, because there will be some neat things going on with it, and related stuff, later this year. Shhhhhhhhhhhhh it’s a secret… 🙂

    1. I will definitely stay with it – even if it remained as is – but the surprises will be fun!!! And I won’t tell anyone else here that there is a surprise coming 🙂 🙂

      1. Of course I already have by posting it… 🙂
Details withheld for now, I’ll be able to spend more time with this place. Let’s put it that way…

Sky brightening up here after the heavier clouds with the showers/storms moved out. Still socked in at low levels until we get rid of the onshore flow, as weak as it is. Looks like we finally sweep it outta here tonight when the final front goes through. Tomorrow’s much better, not perfect, but good enough to go to York Beach! I’m heading up there. A friend has a cottage and we’re heading up for the afternoon. I’ll take anything near 70 or higher and some sun and I’ll be happy. Last year it was good when we went up, 2 years ago we spent a day there when it was about 60, stiff NE wind, and heavy overcast. 😉

  3. Breaking news…… I saw the sun and a few patches of blue sky while hitting off of the driving range. I was so taken aback, I hit the next three shots terribly 🙂

    1. What courses do you recommend in your area Tom? My husband tries to play several times while we are in Humarock. I have a groupon coupon for a place in Hingham but can’t remember the name. I know he’s played somewhere in pembroke and widows walk and green harbor do you have favorites?

      1. I believe the one in Hingham is Black Rock. I could be wrong. My wifes Grandfather use to work at Green Habor.

        1. Hi coastal. I had to look to see where the coupon is from. It’s south shore CC. Don’t know if it’s any good. Husband said green harbor is a good course and right in the area.

          1. Hi Vicki.

A couple of my neighbors play the Green Harbor course (I think)…… I played a lot when I was younger in Lowell at various courses, including Long Meadow. I havent played much recently. However, I dug my clubs and bag out today and decided its time to get back to it. My mom is not very healthy, its been a tough few months watching her health slowly deteriorate, I desperately needed an outlet and I thoroughly enjoyed pounding away for close to two hours. Funny, the irons were doing pretty well, it was the drivers that were giving me fits.

          2. Hi Tom. I’m sorry to hear your mom is not doing well. I know how difficult it is. She’s lucky to have you and I’m glad you are remembering to take time for yourself

          3. Tom, I know what your going through. I lost my Dad two months before my wedding in 08. He was in the hospital three month before he passed. Its difficult because you try to be there for them everyday but still try to keep some sort of balance in your life. It was never easy but as long as he wanted to fight, I was willing to stand there right next to him. You seem like a terrific guy and wonderful son. I’m sure your mom knows that better than anyone. Keep your head up.

  4. I grew up summering at York Beach. I love that place and can’t wait to take my kids there. We use to stay at the Gray Gull before it was turned into private cottages. I loved the arcade, golden rod, short sands, wild kindom, nubble and browns ice cream shop. Such great memories. Enjoy TK!

    1. I was never at York until a few years ago. My family used to get a cottage at Hampton Beach NH when I was little, and we’ve continued to go there for day trips since. I still love Hampton best because of my own memories of it, much like yours of York. I do enjoy York for what is becoming an annual visit now. Looking forward to it! Also a big fan of Ogunquit in Maine & Wingaersheek in Gloucester MA. A couple friends of mine are getting an apartment that’s a 5 minute walk from Good Harbor in Gloucester so I see myself making a trip up there later this summer. 🙂

    2. The memories are the key. I’ve been going to Humarock since I was one. Now my grandkids are fourth generation. It seems when you drive over the bridge you are in a time that has past where kids go out to play and you don’t worry. It’s special to share your childhood memories with your own kids

      1. Growing up, we used to cut through York’s Animal Kingdom to get through to York Beach (short sands). Now, when we hit the beach in Maine, it tends to be Ogunquit. My wife and I like Ogunquit and I think its a great beach for kids. The river behind it is fun with the currents. If anyone is interested in something new, look up Popham State Beach. Its a little further up beyond Freeport, ME. Amazing beach.

  5. We make day trips to Good Harbor too and even head up for a late afternoon picnic and then ice cream on Bear Skin Neck. It’s a lovely area. And we’ve stayed at Stage Neck inn York a few times. We are lucky to have so much lovely coastline
