  1. Even though dew points across most of SNE were 60+ today, it was still a “top 10” summer’s day. It felt really nice to be out-of-doors as it should be this time of year.

Keeping fingers crossed that the current July 4th forecast holds with no hang-ups. 🙂

  2. It is a gorgeous summer day. I love the low humidity but this feels like summer. My kids filled the kiddie pools at their respective homes first thing so their little ones could play out later. I had tea on the deck before work and am heading back to the deck for something a bit stronger than tea! It is a top-10 summer day 🙂

  3. Good Morning and it’s another summer beauty!!! What are the chances of more severe tstorms tonight or is your thinking that they will still be about a 1 on JimmyJames scale?

  4. I am going with a 1 on the 1-4 thunderstorm index since I am thinking should there be thunderstorms they will stay below severe levels but as always I’ll keep an eye on it.
After today the thunderstorm index is on vacation for the rest of the week since will have some real nice summer weather.

    1. thanks JimmyJames – and it’s nice the thunderstorm index gets a summer vacation too – 🙂

  5. Couldn’t ask for a nicer day weather-wise for my Birthday.

    For July 4th,
the 00z EURO shows a beauty with temps in the low 80’s
the 12z GFS shows scattered showers, but temps should be around the 80 degree mark.

    Early prediction for July 4th…
Sunshine in the morning, then clouds will build during the afternoon with a risk of a shower or thunderstorm. Temps should range from 80-84 with dew points in the 60’s.

  6. Hi, all – computer has been acting crazy so I haven’t been able to be on that much. It still isn’t acting that great – could be the mouse (when I open up a page the cursur moves around by itself sometimes). I tried cleaning any dust out of the computer and the mouse and that didn’t help. My husband says I may need another motherboard. 🙁

Anyway, I have been enjoying the weather – it really has been fabulous. But now the clouds are slowly moving in. According to NWS , (and I think the GFS model – I think that’s right) the front could slow down which, as TK said earlier, would result in lingering showers and storms into tomorrow afternoon. We will see.

Looking forward to a great July 4th – no definite plans yet.

    1. rainshine – I had a friend this happened to and am trying to remember what she did. I can’t remember if it was as simple as reinstalling the mouse. She’s away but I’ll try to see if I can contact her.

  7. Note: NWS said the Euro model has front moving out fast – GFS model saying front might slow down and as TK said we may have to watch for a storm tomorrow afternoon.

Sun out again – wish it would stay out longer!

  8. Happy Birthday Scott….it was also a beautiful day in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire yesterday, low 80s, low humidity, light winds and a few puffy cumulus clouds to keep the sky interesting. It was cloudy this AM when I left, but, as I’ve gotten closer to southeast Mass, there were less clouds and now its fairly sunny here in Marshfield with a bit of a cooling seabreeze.

  9. Thanks Tom!

After peeking at the 12z EURO and 12z GFS, July 4th’s temps could reach the upper 80’s for many. Question is where the wind will blowing, and how much cloudiness will be around.

Besides July 4th, the overall runs of the 12z EURO and GFS look real summer-like with a possible extended period of dry weather after tomorrow.

  10. Happy Birthday Scott!

Lots of middle clouds this afternoon associated with the broad disturbance moving in. Certainly no widespread areas of solid overcast with this thing, and so far just some showers over northwestern New England. That stuff never reaches the Boston Area. We’ll see if something develops later tonight, but our greatest chance for showers and storms may come Wednesday morning with one more shot in the afternoon, as we still have a couple of boundaries that have to wander through.

Looks like a fantastic stretch of weather starts on Thursday…

I’m going to be on vacation from my current job after I get out at 2PM Thursday, until Monday July 11, when I return (though I may be leaving it very soon and coming home to stay, well stay here and work on what I’ve always wanted to work on). In the mean time… Lots of beach, cookout, and fireworks plans coming up, so great weather would be a bonus! Big fireworks display over Boston Harbor on June 30 when I’ll be at. Also a display at Trum Field in Somerville that evening. Everything on July 1 is too far away for me to attend. July 2 I have to choose between Wilmington, Lexington, and Acton fireworks. We’ll see. July 3 there is a giant display in Danvers that is excellent every year. I’ll be in Boston from daybreak to midnight on July 4. What a party! And the best fireworks ever!

    1. TK – sounds like you have a busy but great schedule ahead. Enjoy and I hope the weather cooperates for all the fireworks displays!

    2. TK I hope that no matter your choice for work it is exactly as you hope it will be.

I was thinking of driving into Lexington. It’s fairly easy to park away from the field but still see the display. The first year we were married we lived at Capt. Parker Arms apartments right at the intersection near the field but of course they didn’t have the fireworks there at that time 🙁

      1. About 5 years ago Lexington’s display was INSANE. They have cut back alot since and I’ve only seen a couple of those since (I know others who go to it that tell me what kind of display). As you may or may not have guessed, I am a MAJOR pyromaniac. I almost went into pyrotechnics and still haven’t ruled it out.

As far as my “job” starting later this year… This blog is a launching pad for it, if that gives you any more hint. But don’t worry, the blog isn’t going away – only getting better!

  11. Looking at a line of storms in Upstate NY with a severe thunderstorm warning for that area. I just don’t see any severe weather for us but will watch that line and see what else forms.

  12. Tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:10 am meaning that we have already lost 3 minutes of daylight since the summer solstice on June 21st (5:07 am). Between mother nature and the “early” arrival of DST sunrises always gets the “shaft” first. All I can do is enjoy the early sunrises while they last, which won’t be all that much longer relatively speaking. Sunsets will remain where they are at 8:25 pm until after the July 4th weekend. Those “dark” mornings will be here before you know it well before summer officially ends. It is quite noticeable as early as August.

  13. Then before you know it the sun will set before 8:00pm. It amazing how fast time flies by.

  14. There are still many “bright days of summer” to come. Enjoy it while it’s here! 🙂
