Saturday Forecast

7:56AM

DAYS 1-5 (APRIL 30-MAY 4)…
Weak high pressure enough for day weather but not enough to hold off all cloudiness this last day of April. Broad low pressure area brings wet weather to the region, developing Sunday and lingering much of Monday. A break comes Tuesday into Wednesday courtesy another area of weak high pressure.
TODAY: Sunniest eastern areas early to mid morning, otherwise variably cloudy. Highs 50s coastline, lower 60s interior. Wind light E to SE.
TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy. Lows in the 40s. Wind light SE.
SUNDAY: Thickening overcast. Periods of rain developing afternoon. Highs in the 50s. Wind SE 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Overcast. Periods of rain. Areas of fog. Lows in the 40s. Wind SE 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY: Overcast. Periods of rain, mainly morning and early afternoon. Highs middle 40s to lower 50s. Wind E 10-20 MPH.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny. Lows in the 40s. Highs middle 50s to middle 60s, coolest coast.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. Lows middle 40s to lower 50s. Highs upper 50s to middle 60s, coolest coast.

DAYS 6-10 (MAY 5-9)…
Unsettled weather returns and may last for much of this period, as a cut off low may be in the vicinity. Temperatures near to below normal.

DAYS 11-15 (MAY 10-14)…
Some improvement is expected with coolest weather, relative to normal, most likely early in the period and some hope for warming, at least briefly, later in the period. Low confidence forecast.

  1. A lot depends on where the ULL and surface low end up. GFS appears more progressive, as does the ensemble mean. Euro ensemble mean, at least to my eye, look more progressive than the operational. At any rate, Thursday/ Friday through about Monday/Tuesday (9-10 May) look a little nasty.
After that, it might get a little better. Both the euro and gfs want to bring a little better weather and some warmer temps in.
Hopefully the second half of May turns it around.

    1. Perfect. Another week and a half to math MCAS. Need the students not wishing they were outside for 2 more weeks. 🙂 🙂

I’d trade all the cool and/or cloudy, wet weather for a warm to hot Memorial Day weekend.

      1. I agree. Nothing worse than a cold dreary Memorial Day weekend.
Is the MCAS given at different times for different subjects? My kids go to catholic school so we don’t do MCAS

          1. We do the terra nova in March, but we don’t have to follow everything public school does. We don’t make up snow days either. The parish priest gets rid of them,

            1. New earth? And kudos on no standardized tests…or few…and not worrying about hours since we have some of the most in the country and the world

              1. We get a lot more learning in for any given day. We’ve had transfer students in from public school that have said there was a ton more work done. They also work a little above grade level. By the time we hit early June, the curriculum is done basically.
Also dont have the discipline issues that public school has. If we do, they’re gone, period.

                1. I have supported the methods of school systems outside of this country for years. They are better than ours by far. I’ll have to look into parochial philosophy. Thanks. We have been more than I pressed with Sutton so far. They seem to have adopted the idea of adding more free play time and more inclusion.

And after this short break..back to weather. As I drove by the Uxbridge soccer fields I thought of you ….not because of soccer but because you finally have a really nice morning for little league.

  2. I’d like to reiterate a great point made by Joshua earlier in the week that has continued the last few days.

One of our cold source regions (Canada) has seen significant temperature moderation recently. Perhaps up to 90% of Canada will reach 0C or higher today. Where the majority of the U.S. will have cloud cover today, the majority of Canada looks to receive sunshine today.

Getting rid of eastern Canada snow cover and melting some of Hudson Bay’s ice are an important solution to lifting the temp contrast and the jet stream further north.

Hopefully, a decent thawing of Canada has begun.

  3. After topping off above 60, we have fallen back to 57.7 due to guess what?
Oh, you don’t know there was an EAST WIND!

  5. Clouds moved in here…just in time for kids Easter hunt. Yep, we are a tad late on getting that done 🙂

  6. Chilly breeze at times but warm sunshine and a great day to be outside.

Son’s school’s car wash raised big bucks for the band.

The 3 Amigos (Lynda, Emily, and yours truly) had a fun 4 hours of yard-sale visiting.

And now I’m nearly done with 3 hours of successful outdoor projects.

After the morning or with mom tomorrow, it becomes an indoor project first day of May. Gotta plan with nature not against it. 🙂

      1. Mainly some catch up off odds/ends and decluttering of my catch-all den, which I want NEAT. Soon I’ll be able to rearrange the entire room. I have several small projects to do so I’ll work on 1 or 2 of those. 😀

        1. Always nice to get the odds and ends done. Amazing how we put them off. I have several when you are finished there…..well, many more than several but didn’t want to scare you !!

  7. Started a side business and first day could not have gone better . 3 more jobs awarded today . General yard cleanup , small debris removal . No lawn cutting but the customer today asked me to think about it as she was so happy she is finding a way to keep me

  8. New post is up. Just a short forecast for now. Will expand on it later…
