Friday Forecast

7:23AM

DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 23-27)…
Cold front crosses the region today and this evening with lots of clouds and the threat of showers and a few thunderstorms. Cooler northerly flow overtakes the region for the weekend as high pressure centers itself north northwest of New England. This high should drop down over the region by Monday and Tuesday with fair weather, a couple very cool mornings, but milder afternoons especially by Tuesday.
TODAY: Variably cloudy. Scattered showers. Chance of a thunderstorm. Highs 77-85. Wind W 5-15 MPH shifting to NW later in the day.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers. Chance of a thunderstorm. Lows 54-62. Wind NW to N 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 63-71. Wind N 10-20 MPH
SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 42-50, mildest urban areas and Cape Cod. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 62-70. Wind N 10-20 MPH.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny. Risk of frost interior areas early in the day. Lows 35-45, mildest urban areas and immediate coast. Highs 64-72.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 38-45. Highs 66-74.

DAYS 6-10 (SEPTEMBER 28-OCTOBER 2)…
A little unsure how systems set up and of the resultant weather but current indications lead me to believe it warms up with a risk of a few showers at times, but no widespread beneficial rain. Will fine-tune this period with time.

DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 3-7)…
A couple rain opportunities exist this period. Temperatures near to above normal.

  1. Good morning and thank you TK.

Ho Hum Weather, in between Severe season and Winter Storm season, especially
without any tropical prospects. That “may” change 10-14 days out. We shall see.

Latest GFS has tropical entity in the Gulf with a strike near the panhandle of FLA.
CMC and Euro have it in the Carribean, CMC near the Yucatan pen. and Euro in
the Southern Carribean South of the Caymans.

If there is landfall anywhere in the gulf, it would almost certainly mean
no hurricane up here, however, it “could” possibly mean some really
beneficial rains up here. We’ll have to wait and see. Let us hope we at least get
2 or 3 inches of rain.

    re: Patriots
    AWESOME!!

Enjoyed the game. BB pretty much kept the governor on QB7, but they did allow
him a few throws. He “just” Missed on a couple of beauties to Hogan. That will
come with experience. QB7 managed the game as BB wanted him to do. Great job.

Pats special teams players are out of this world, every phase of it. The Punter was spectacular as were all of the cover players. The defense was stout, bending a few times, but not breaking. The big pass plays Osweiler completed were into very very tight coverage. Not much else our guys could have done for the most part. There were
a few short passes that were wide open, but that happens. Jamie Collins was a beast. Awesome interception on a hell of an anticipation play by him. My wife and I loved the game.

The best part of it was the BIG MIDDLE FINGER the Pats shoved at Asshole GOODELL!!!! Loved it loved it loved it!!!!

Take my QB away, F you GOODELL!!!!!!

    re: Red Sox
    Magic number is 5.
8th win in a row! back to back 4 game sweeps. When is the last time that ever happened? probably never.
Price is 17-8 and Porcello is 21-4, not too shabby when all is said and done.
Hanely hit #29. One more and we have 3 30 homer guys on the same team and we
already have 3 100 rbi guys.

Great time to be a sports fan in the City of Boston! WOW!!!!

        1. From Twitter:

Red Sox Notes ‏@SoxNotes 13h13 hours ago
The Red Sox have played consecutive 4-game series and won all 8 games for the first time since July 1968.

  2. Thanks TK.
Thankfully we got the two wild cards in baseball otherwise the last week of regular season would have no drama.
Patriots should be 4-0 after they take on Buffalo a week from Sunday. That team is in bad shape with an offensive coordinator fired and Rex Ryan is a terrible NFL coach whose teams have never won anything.

  3. Question for Bill is who does he start next week. Brissett or Jimmy G, both look good then again Brissett was one game.

      1. What concerns me is that initially it would be 6 weeks. If Jimmy G hurts that shoulder again, it could maybe mean his career over for good. They shouldn’t rush him and Brady will be back soon. I say let Brissett start one more time. If we go 3-1 then fine.

        1. Playing with an AC sprain wont ruin him. It’s just pain.
Besides, Marcus Cannon could play QB and beat Buffalo.
Well, not really, but Buffalo is bad bad bad

        2. Initially it was 6 weeks according to some in the media, not the doctors. That was all speculation. Others were speculating that it was only 1-2 weeks. The truth is, except for the doctors and the team, NOBODY knows exactly what happened to his shoulder and how long his recovery should take.

          1. This is very true. Frankly, it doesn’t matter at this point. Whether Jimmy G plays next Sunday or not, doesn’t mean a hill of beans as they can just as easily win with Brisset. Tommy Boy is back with the team in 10 days. 😀

4-0 is absolutely on the table! Take that Mr. Commissioner!

            1. I do know what you mean when you say it doesn’t matter; but in my opinion only, there is not a game that doesn’t matter equally to BB and the team.

              1. I didn’t meant that the game didn’t matter, I meant that the game would be won with either QB and thus which QB played didn’t matter. 😀

        3. I suspect that only BB and G10 know what he can and can’t do. The media loves the stories. The word is that it is just a matter of playing through the pain and that others have played with the same injury. My guess is we will know when they take the field. A portion of BB’s success is mind games which I think was wonderfully evident last night.

    1. The RAP shows something like this as well. Seems to be some decent support from the short range guidance for the band of showers intensifying and adding some downpours as it gets into northern MA.

      1. Latest HRRR shows 0.46 inch for the immediate Boston area and latest RAP shows 0.49 inch. Most of it comes like 2-4 AM or there about. We shall see. We surely could use the rain.

  4. An interesting weather day here in Plymouth, NH so far. Woke up to rain around 7:00; we picked up 0.17″ in the early morning hours. By 10:00 it was partly cloudy and we warmed up to near 70F. Looks like the front came through between 11-12, and behind it the skies have turned ominous again with more scattered showers around.

    1. Ok. I’ll be going over that stuff a bit later. Lots to squeeze in between work and my brother’s day-after-his-60th-bday dinner. 😉

    1. Wow! I saw them working on it on the sidelines last night. I thought he tore a nail or something and I had no idea it was that severe.

Amazing! The Pats are snake bitten, but carry on.

QB10 WILL have to play next Sunday.

      1. Or WR/QB 11 will have to start. It would be interesting to see Edelman throw short passes downfield to himself. 😀

        1. Hey Garoppolo did it. Of course it bounced of a defender’s
helmet first. Even so, it went in the books as a 3 yard
          completion to himself. 😀

Spoke to my wife a bit ago and gave her the bad news.
It is her opinion, that Edelman will be the QB next Sunday.

We shall see. I’m guessing Garoppolo mans up and steps in.

I once pitched an entire game with my arm virtually falling off. It can be done. You just will the pain away.
And I did no permanent damage, although it took an entire Summer to heal. 😀

      1. We are also assuming with G that we know the full story. The word from pats is they will wait till Monday to decide anything. If they were getting someone in youd think it would be sooner to work on playbook etc. but again. I’m not second guessing bb.

        1. I find it fascinating. I wonder IF they would bring someone in. I suppose it depends upon Jimmy G.
          We’ll know soon enough.

      1. I was behind their buses headed to Waltham in traffic on Wednesday, and saw them sitting in traffic on the way down to Foxboro yesterday. They had a police escort and still weren’t able to move much.

Why they stayed in Waltham is a good question though.

    1. This is why the pats are great. When they lose, they flat out say they didn’t play well or the coaching was not good. To my knowledge they have never played the victim

  5. I had a nice long drive to and from newton Wellesley so was able to listen to sports radio(s)

First, may I say I have no idea why anyone commutes daily. I suppose it has something to do with earning a living but darn …id go nuts

Second, as I listened, I could not help but think how amazingly blessed we are to witness first hand both the best coach and best QB in history. And they are ours!!

That said…..I have a quiz which has no correct or incorrect answer.

    Which would you rather have

A BB with a half decent QB
B An exceptional QB with a half decent coach

    1. The correct answer is A, imho, but what the hell do I know.

BTW, ponder this. Assuming they win next week, the Pats could possibly
have 3 games in a row WON by 3 different quarterbacks and IF 11 plays, event the possibility of 4 games in a row won by 4 different quarterbacks.

      Now that would be impressive!

    2. I drive that turnpike every morning and every night. Hour and a half each way. Have done it for 16 years.

      1. Took me 90 minutes Rt 16 out. 65 min in Wouldn’t do it every day for the world but then I have worked from home for 36 years so am spoiled and not a good barometer

  6. WOW! Seeing the poor excuse for a meteorologist on channel 4 this evening, one would think we were in the middle of a monsoon! NOT!

Ye ole rain gauge registered a whopping 0.11 inch here in JP.

Impressive drought busting rain event!! The last HRRR I looked at this evening
before it rained, showed 0.08 inch for my area. I think it finally got one about right. 😀

    Down to 57 here.

    1. radar still shows some light green echoes, but Nothing has ticked in the rain
gauge since Midnight and it doesn’t look like it is doing much of anything out there.

  7. Really rained between Logan and Marblehead bw 10:30-1130 last night. Fast wipers at all times. Umbrella needed outside.
