Saturday Forecast

9:28AM

DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 24-28)…
High pressure sits to the northwest of New England this weekend and delivers a cool northerly air flow for the first weekend of autumn. This high sinks down over the region Sunday night providing a solid opportunity for the first frost of the season over prone locations. High pressure will gradually sink off to the southeast by later Monday allowing a cold front to move through from the west during Tuesday. This will be followed by drying westerly flow by Wednesday as broad low pressure hangs back over the Great Lakes and nearby Canada.
TODAY: Early clouds depart the South Coast, otherwise sun mixed with some fair weather clouds. Highs 64-72. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy to mostly clear. Lows 35-40 rural areas and outlying suburbs, 40-45 most locations, 45-50 urban centers and Cape. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Highs 61-69. Wind N 10-20 MPH, diminishing late.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Clear. Frost likely interior areas especially valleys and low spots. Lows 28-33 deeper valleys, 34-39 most interior areas, 40-45 urban centers and immediate shore. Wind calm.
MONDAY: Sunny. Highs 64-72. Wind calm morning, light S afternoon.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Rain showers likely. Lows 52-60. Highs 62-70.
WEDNESDAY: Partly cloudy. Lows 42-50. Highs 60-68.

DAYS 6-10 (SEPTEMBER 29-OCTOBER 3)…
Milder with a few showers possible September 29 as a low pressure trough passes. Mild and dry September 30-October 3 as high pressure dominates.

DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 4-8)…
Pattern should place high pressure off the East Coast and low pressure in the Midwest and this will bring a couple of opportunities for rain during this period. Will have to watch for the addition of tropical moisture should a system far to the south get involved.

  1. Thank you, TK.

I got chills when I saw the word “frost” mentioned. No pun intended. Very exciting!

I heard something in the night and opened the blind to look out (window was open a bit). I had to laugh at myself when I realized it was rain. How odd to have it be a foreign sound.

My gauge says nothing. Wunder station nearby says .12. I think something is off with my gauge.

    1. Well probably no real “heat” anymore but we may get into an episode of tropical humidity during the first week to 10 days of October somewhere.

      1. I’ve run ac more in my part of house with the lower temps because the DP was higher. It is the “wet” that I like to get out of the house.

  2. Thanks TK. I just love this kind of air! Dew point 37F here in Plymouth, NH 🙂

The NHC is now up to a 60% chance of development over 5 days for the tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic. Most of the models are on board for a potential high impact event in the Caribbean. Given their track records however, especially this year, it’s best to just watch and wait at this point, with the knowledge that in the event something does try to develop, it could be significant.

    1. Very interesting. The GFS, CMC and the EURO all have this system in the Caribbean somewhere. GFS and EURO have it nested in between Cuba and the Yucatan in 10 days. CMC North of Cuba.

So, it’s definitely a watcher for sure. I would imagine there is less of a threat for us as opposed to the Gulf Coast. We shall see where it decides to go.

  3. Since I have never had problems talking to myself and in the interest of waking everyone up……they neighborhood had a really nice Oktoberfest today and I got to meet a lot of amazing neighbors. But there is a problem. They tell me they rarely if ever lose power. I figured since we have a connect all set for a generator that it was common but noooooooooooooo

They did say we are in some sort of snow belt.

It isn’t a win win but at least the cup is half full

      1. Hi Again, Dave. I searched all folders and cannot find a response. I apologize and wonder if you would just forward or resend the one in your send folder? Thank you.

  4. I am hoping this winter is a good skiing winter as its the first time since 2012 that I am competing…. Not sure how many races I will be doing, all I know is that I been cleared. hoping to do the speed based races instead of the technical. I like the speed ones more 🙂
