Thursday Forecast

7:27AM

DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 20-24)…
Warm front approaches later today and brings increasing clouds followed by a rain risk tonight. Mild and more humid air pushes in overnight into Friday along with additional rain showers, then a chance of more significant rain in parts of the region from a combination of an approaching cold front and tropical moisture from the south later Friday and Friday night. Intensifying low pressure moving into eastern Canada over the weekend will cause a transition to windy and cooler weather. A few showers may still be around on Saturday as the upper level low pressure area has to pass by. Will watch a possible disturbance for Monday with at least some cloudiness and possibly a risk of a little rain but this system may never materialize fully.
TODAY: Sun dominates the morning. Increasing clouds midday/afternoon Chance of rain showers by late afternoon. Highs 60-68. Wind light NE.
TONIGHT: Cloudy. Periods of rain. Lows 50-58. Wind light SE to S.
FRIDAY: Mainly cloudy. Episodes of rain showers through midday becoming more frequent afternoon. Highs 60-68. Wind S 10-20 MPH.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Cloudy with episodes of rain, possibly heavy in some areas. Slight risk of thunderstorms. Lows 55-62. Wind S 10-20 MPH becoming variable.
SATURDAY: Variably cloudy. Isolated rain showers. Highs 57-64 early then cooling through the 50s. Wind NW increasing to 15-25 MPH with higher gusts.
SUNDAY: Partly sunny. Windy. Lows 35-43. Highs 54-61.
MONDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of rain showers. Lows 38-45. Highs 52-58.

DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 25-29)…
Windy, cool, dry weather October 25-26 then fair with moderating temperatures mid period followed by a rain shower risk late in the period.

DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 30-NOVEMBER 3)…
The pattern may turn a little more unsettled during this time but unsure of any detail this far in advance.

  1. I wonder if the white mtns in NH, maybe some of the taller peaks in Vermont and high points in northern NY state are in for a decent wrap around wet snow event this weekend, especially Saturday.

The upper level low looks closed off and pretty strong, so I’m pretty sure there will be sufficient moisture wrapping around in northern areas and the 850mb temps are below 0C.

Guessing at elevations 2500ft or higher.

    1. I’m not looking forward to high, if not tropical humidity tomorrow.

Then again, since it increases the rain chances, I suppose I’ll deal with it 🙂 If tomorrow’s mild and muggy could just happen during the weekend …….

  2. I will say that there is support for Ryan’s tweet from the 12z NAM for Springfield area west and in CT. Not huge CAPE but enough for thunder and the model is picking up on some helicity values showing up as well as some values showing up in the supercell category. Will see what the other 12z run show.

      1. Eric showed that or a similar picture last night on the 11PM Broadcast and mentioned
the name of the clouds. I told my wife that I knew that. 😀

  3. Thank you, TK.

I’ve been `lurking,’ but not posting lately. Love to read what you all have to say. Just too busy to post at this time.

Headed to Nantucket with a friend on Saturday. Taking the traditional 2 hour ferry from Hyannis in the afternoon. Might be a rough ride (?). Loaded up on Dramamine just in case. Coming back Monday. Looks to be windy, too, but not quite as bad though the ferry will be heading into the wind Monday as opposed to having a brisk (near-gale gusts) tail wind on Saturday. May have to work on my swimming technique. Figure the furthest I’ll be from the coast is 13 miles. I can swim 13 miles … Yeah, right! Oh well, at least I’ll be really close to the benchmark.

    1. Enjoy, Joshua. Miss you here but happy to hear you have been reading.

Daughter who just flew to FL gets horribly air, sea, car sick. Mac did also. She took an antinausea med this past time and said it was only time she has not been horribly sick at the end of the flight. Good luck!!!! And have a blast!

      1. Thank you, Vicki. Yes, I’ll have a “blast” (of wind, that is). It’s probably going to feel like one of the Shetland islands. But, that should be fun.

  4. They finished painting the house and just in time.
It took a crew of five 6 days to complete. Looks nice and we’re happy.
And for a reasonable price, well it’s never really reasonable, but it was considerably
lower than some other estimates I received. 😀 And way less than what I last paid
    12-15 years ago. 😀

  5. Tropical start to the day, quite warm and humid.

We’re going to get some sun this morning in Marshfield anyway as the eastern half of the sky is fairly clear.
