Wednesday Forecast

7:35AM

DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 26-30)…
Bright but a November feel today as a fresh supply of cold air flows out of Canada while high pressure centered over east central Canada slides eastward. This high heads into the Maritime Provinces on Thursday as low pressure coming out of the Great Lakes approaches New England from the west. There has been some talk about snow/sleet being part of this system as it arrives, and this is still a valid possibility, but the most likely areas to see brief frozen precipitation will be higher elevations of southwestern NH and Worcester County MA, westward. Any flakes in the air as far east of I-495 would be brief at best. This will be largely a rain event, most of it will be Thursday night, and some of it may be heavy as low pressure redevelops over southern New England before heading into the Gulf of Maine Friday. This will initiate a drying trend on Friday although it will likely be windy and on the cool side. Look for a front to sit nearby over the weekend and bring the risk of some unsettled weather, which may stay largely to the north of the region depending on the position of the front. Will fine-tune that part of the forecast in the next couple days.
TODAY: Mostly sunny.Highs 46-53. Wind NW 5-15 MPH with higher gusts.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear to partly cloudy. Lows 28-38. Wind light N to NE.
THURSDAY: Clouding up morning. Rain develops west to east and may start as a brief period of snow/sleet especially well northwest and west of Boston favoring higher elevations. Highs 44-52. Wind light NE to E.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Overcast. Periods of rain, may be heavy at times. Lows 40-48. Wind variable 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Chance of rain early. Highs 50-58. Wind variable becoming NW 15-25 MPH with higher gusts.
SATURDAY: Variably cloudy. Risk of rain showers. Lows 32-40. Highs 52-60.
SUNDAY: Variably cloudy. Risk of rain showers. Lows 40-48. Highs 54-62.

DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 31-NOVEMBER 4)…
Again will try to time a couple disturbances bringing rain shower risks and variable temperatures during this period.

DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 5-9)…
Pattern trends dry and milder during this period.

  1. Good morning and thank you TK.

Only 36 at my house this morning while it was 35 yesterday. I expected lower and was
surprised. Perhaps tonight? We shall see.

System coming in tomorrow is coming in Hot. That is too far North allowing too much warming at the surface 1st and then a bit later warming aloft. Too bad, it would have
been great seeing some snow. Not going to happen around here that is for sure. 😀

      1. That does not always happen, but it does “more often than not”.
So, that’s a good way of looking at it. 😀

I really don’t care. It just would have been nice to see.

We really can’t expect Snow this time of year. Not even in November for the most part.

AND, that ocean is still waaaay to warm.

        1. ocean will keep getting warmer. (gulf of mexico, experiancing the fasted elevation in temperature besides for the Arctic.

          1. Here is the perfect snow scenario:

Waters to the South of New England stay warm
all the way to the vicinity of the benchmark, while at the same time the waters in the Gulf of Maine down to Mass Bay and just to the East of the Cape cool down to the mid 30s. We’d probably have a permanent fog bank near the waters between the 2.

            Wouldn’t that be something.

  2. Cleveland won last night. It is a conundrum for me.
On the one hand, it would be nice for the Cubs to win since that haven’t won in oh so long and Jon Lester and Theo Epstein are there. On the other hand, Terry Francona
is managing Cleveland and it would be awesome for Cleveland to win and Francona
rub it in the face of the Red Sox brass.

I am leaning towards I HOPE CLEVELAND WINS!

Anyone else feel the same way? Curious.

    1. Yes I’m in the same conundrum. I was rooting for the cubs to win since it has been so long form them, but I also found myself not minding that Cleveland won last night as I like Francona a lot. He’s a great manager, but even better in the playoffs.

    2. Absolutely rooting for Cleveland. Rooting for Francona and want to see Joe Madden lose !! And I wouldn’t mind seeing Cub fans continue in their misery.

      1. This bleeding heart is rooting for the Cubs. I don’t like seeing anyone miserable so it is a given for me 😉

        1. As I hit “Post Comment” I realized I lied. Seeing Goodell miserable doesn’t bother me at all. And now those fans abandoning the NFL have something fun to watch!!

    3. Hope the Series goes seven games and the last game is a brilliant one for both teams. Rooting for the Tribe. I figure the Cubs will win two or three times in the next ten years. They are becoming a powerhouse.

  3. If I heard correctly, the team that wins game #1 usually goes on to win the series. Home field is so important in any sport and the NL hasn’t had it for some time if I am not mistaken.

    1. I heard the game one winner has won seven straight world series games.
Last time the NL team had home field advantage in the World Series was back in 2012 when the NL won the All Star Game. The Giants swept the Tigers that year in the World Series.

      1. Well, it may help weaken the PV and send a lot of cold airmasses into parts of the mid latitudes. Not a big correlation regarding precipitation.
