        1. Don’t get me started. If I had my way, Logan would not be an observation station for the city of Boston. I don’t have a rain gauge and I believe that my neighborhood got more than what Logan reported.

Anyway, no big deal as not all that much difference.

      1. Agree. That’s insanity. I know it’s not considered cool to criticize Belichick because of his winning ways, but some of his recent trades (eg, Chandler Jones – we could use a pass rusher) and now Jamie Collins (perhaps the most versatile and athletic defender they have) are head scratchers to say the least. Trading him to Cleveland strikes me as a punishment of sorts, too. I really can’t stand that about Belichick. Discipline is one thing, it’s another to pile on. I thought his treatment of Jonas Gray, for example, was disgraceful.

        1. He does not care the rank and file he has proved it . He’d get rid of Brady in a heartbeat if he thought he needed. To. See how fast he threw him under the bus with deflategate .

  1. collins to the Browns ? what the heck. At least cut the 3 middle linebackers that have not even seen playing time before Collins. He was a distruptive force. I was thinking since we got rid of Jones, we would of keep collins, Hightower and Butler, Now Im not even sure we keep them.

  2. Collins is a free agent after this season as well as hightower. No way they sign both him and hightower as well as keep butler who comes up the following year. Hightower is more valuable. Collins hasn’t had a good year. He’s been ok, and all things equal, they would have kept him. But if they know they cant or wont resign him, then get something for him.
I’ve also heard he’s not the most coachable guy, either.
    I trust Bill

    1. Good points, BUT for a 3rd round compensatory pick which could possibly
turn into a 4th round pick???? Seems like NOT enough compensation
for a player of his caliber.

I also heard that the Pat’s are NOT done in the trading market.

So, we shall see IF they come up with anything else.

      1. I agree on the surface its not a high pick. But we don’t know what else goes on down there either.
Collins was out 6 weeks last year with a mysterious “ailment”. God know what that was about.

        1. Yes, I remember that. Another good point.

Let’s wait until the dust settles. I’m sure all will be well.

    2. I get all that, I really do. He’s having a down year so far and I heard a report that he often plays out of position and takes too many chances resulting in big plays by the opposition. That is definitely not how Bill likes his defenses. Everyone is supposed to do their job. I would challenge that and ask how Bill’s defenses have fared since players like Bruschi, Ty Law, and Harrison have gone. Let’s be honest, they have been riding their offense since then. Their defenses have let them down in the Super Bowl and AFC champ losses. In those years, they lacked the one or 2 players with enough talent to recognize the situation and take it upon themselves to make the big play even if it meant doing someone else’s job. In Bill we trust? Well, if he’s such a great coach, shouldn’t he be able to get more out of Collin’s? Shouldn’t part of Bill’s JOB be to coach him up to get the most of out him? Instead, Bill takes the easy way out and ships him out for virtually nothing (along with many other talented players in the past). Let’s hope this one doesn’t come back to bite him.

    3. I’m in the BlackstoneWx camp on this. BB is probably the greatest coach ever – if not greatest darned close. We do not know the workings inside the club. Ace, no matter how great BB is, you cannot get talent where talent doesn’t exist….sort of like water out of a stone. As far as a 3rd/4th round….wasn’t Brady something like a 6th? Nah, in BB I do trust. Don’t like his personality one bit but sure have no reason not to trust his ability as a coach.

    1. I don’t think it is a matter of who cares but a matter of enjoying the game which includes all of the stuff on the periphery. I enjoy the input here of some very knowledgeable football folks!

    2. We certainly are entitled to “Care” on this move. IN the end, it doesn’t matter whether any of us care or not. It’s our team or should I say our region’s team
and we take great interest in it. Therefore, when a trade like this is executed,
then yes, some of us care.

I hold final judgement until they Pats are done. If this is it, then so be it.

I’ll watch in 2 weeks regardless.

      1. I didn’t mean Here . It’s not a surprise he wanted 11 million he’s not worth it . Don’t let the door hit you in the ass. They made him an offer he refused so he goes from best team to worst team . See ya dude next uo please .

  3. Collins is hard to coach and thinks he’s way better than he is. He’s not helped us at all of late. Also having injury issues. And perhaps even more going on behind the scenes. They were never gonna keep him beyond this year. I like the move. Dump him to a non-contender. BB knows what he’s doing.

  4. I get the reasons for trading him, I honestly do. But why oh why do we keep getting NOTHING in return for these supposed talented players?!? It’s maddening. At least TRY to get more, it’s not like no one in the league would love to have these players.

    1. Perhaps that is ALL they could get. We don’t know.

But that being said, it seems like we could have gotten MORE.

So perhaps there is more going on than we know. I don’t pretend to know. 😀

      1. Collins was ranked #9 in best LB’s in the league. You mean to tell me that’s all they could get for him?

        1. They weren’t going to trade him to a contender, a team they play this season, or in the division. That limits the number of teams you can trade with right there. Now, if you’re one of these other teams, ask yourself, what would you give up for 1/2 a season of a guy that you may or may not be able to sign to an extension? If you wait 4 months, you might be able to sign him without giving anything up.

      1. And Bill is typically about 6 moves ahead. Again, we shall see
        how it all plays out.

It still doesn’t mean he is always correct, but he is More correct
than not most of the time. Certainly better than the rest.

  5. a side note from the weather and sports, Related to the enviornment and its a big deal.

This pipeline can lead to severe water pollution. There is no way in heck that there will not be any spills as this company has lead to several catastrophic events. If people do not care about the environment think about someone putting it under a church and a barial site because thats what is happening. This is sacred land for the Native Americans and also important habitat. Bison, Eagles and several other animals.

    1. `Old’ news from 2014, but important to keep in mind. See link below. The National Geographic article is critical of the original WWF report on declining numbers of species. Specifically, the methods used by WWF are susceptible to bias. Nevertheless, it’s clear that numbers of species are on the decline. Much of the damage being done today is not in the U.S. because it is a post-industrial country. A lot of damage is occurring in emerging economies such as China, India, Brazil, and others. Dramatic expansion of industrialization with little or no regulation has led to the problems we’re seeing today. Couple that with tremendous population growth in many emerging economies and you get a diminishing of natural habitat as well as a more polluted environment.

      1. I am actually working on different ways to measure with a phd student. We are in a major network, of organizations and colleges that are working togeather around the world creating a data base for Biodiversity level fluctuations which involves putting foodwebs of the different locations. From coral reefs, to deep ocean to the mountains and forests back to the river basins and to the Marshlands and seagrass beds. ( im working on the seagrass and marshland section at the moment) There are alot of methods to do it, all have positives and negatives. Negative of what I am doing, it takes at least 5 to 10 years to get any really good data. We are on year 4, I just joined this past summer.

  6. Also I just saw that Collins was asking for Von-Miller type of pay check, no wonder why Bill was like good bye.

  7. Agree with Vicki’s assessment of BB. Greatest coach ever, but a personality that borders on dictatorial. He prioritizes loyalty to a degree that’s rather extreme in my opinion. Doesn’t tolerate dissent. Can’t stand a critical media.

    1. I have second guessed my own comment a bit, Joshua, and you just helped me see why. I think the dissent is because there is no room for it. Greats are focused on one thing and there is no grey area. It is what makes them great. I get the loyalty part also because it is what makes a team – every cog has to fit in place or there is no team. As for the media. I’ve said it many times here that I listened repeatedly to Ted’s view of the media. It makes the reason very clear when you hear it from that perspective. I detest Boston sports writers. The personality part that bothers me is when he stands at the mike and says “we’re off to (insert destination” repeatedly. But then, as I thought about that, I don’t really know what is in his head at that point. It could be something as simple as the fact he is still replaying plays or he could be a jerk.

As you see, I just had a whole huge argument with myself as I drove from daughter’s house to mine 🙂

      1. Yup, we as well. Up to 60 now.
Real chill in the air as I am standing out on the front porch in just an open zip up dweatshirt. It’s nice. LOVE it.

            1. I’d say 80-100 here. Great kid neighborhood. It 36.9. Perfedt Halloween night. A flock of geese flew over after dark. The kids thought they were witches. It was awesome

Was talking to grandson in my livingroom and he suddenly pointed to slider to deck. There was an eight foot tyranasaurus Rex looking in at us. Startled me a bit .
