DAYS 1-5 (JANUARY 20-24)
One low pressure area will approach from the southwest but fall apart as it runs into high pressure overhead tonight and Saturday. A larger and much stronger storm will come out of the south central US and make a run at New England from late Sunday through Tuesday. There is still some time to work out the details of precipitation types but it looks like the bulk of it will be rain for a large portion of the region, with snow and sleet involved for at least part of the storm for some areas, favoring northern and central MA and southern NH.
REMAINDER OF TODAY: Cloudy. Temperatures steady around 40. Wind light variable.
TONIGHT: Cloudy. Slight chance of light rain southwest of Boston late. Lows 33-40. Wind light variable.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy morning. Mostly sunny afternoon. Highs 47-54. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 30-38. Wind light W.
SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy. Highs 38-45. Wind NE 5-15 MPH inland, 10-20 MPH coast, higher gusts South Coast.
MONDAY: Snow/sleet to rain northern and central MA and southern NH, rain/sleet to rain elsewhere. Temperatures steady 32-40. Windy.
TUESDAY: Rain tapering to drizzle. Lows 32-40. Highs 40-48. Windy.

DAYS 6-10 (JANUARY 25-29)
A break break January 25 then a weak system passes north of the region with a rain shower risk January 26. Colder air filters in late next week and there will be a potential snow/mix event on the weekend of January 28-29.

DAYS 11-15 (JANUARY 30-FEBRUARY 3)
Fair weather with temperatures a little more seasonably chilly dominating most of this period. Weak systems may bring a few mix/snow showers.

    1. Have fun. I haven’t been to Okemo since 1970 or 1971.

Do they still have that Poma lift to the summit? I didn’t like it, but it was
the fastest way to the top. Beats taking 2 chair lifts. That still in place?
OR did they finally install a chair from bottom to top?

    2. Have fun MassBay. My brother skied Sunappe yesterday morning. I asked him to be on the lookout for someone asking for Hank 😉

I loved poma lifts. I mastered the one at Cranmore when I was two and was quite proud of myself. I also like T bars except when with my younger brother who loved to dump us off!!!

  1. No old school lift to the summit acc. to the trail map.
I have a hunch they have made several alterations since ’71 🙂
Tomorrow my first time there. Will report faithfully.

    1. I think Okemo have one of the fastes lift systems. If I am not mistaking, I never been to that mountain.

      1. Matt, I am sure many things have changed since I was there, but one thing that can’t change much and that is the mountain.

It is Awesome. Give it a whirl, I think you’ll like it.

    2. Of course, I figured that, but none-the-less was curious.

My wife even handled that poma lift.

I loved the trail layout at Okemo. I loved it better than Stow, Waterville, Cannon, Mt. Snow and Killington. I Imagine they have even altered those or added to them. 😀

        1. I believe the right side of the mountain has been unchanged besides for the lifts…. I wonder if there are any of the narrow traditional New England Style trails at Okemo.

            1. I used to just make them wider by skiing off into the woods. 😀 I was never that good. Solid intermediate is about it.

        2. My big brother says even though I learned to ski at 2, I was not using a Poma lift for a few years. Way to pop my bubble 🙁

        3. Fascinating. Thank you.
They certainly mentioned that poma lift I discussed.
I knew it was a long one at like 6200 feet!

  2. On the GFS ……. sure is an interesting bullseye of 3+ inches of projected rainfall for northeast Mass on the early week storm.
