Friday Forecast

7:22AM

DAYS 1-5 (FEBRUARY 17-21)
Shhhhh. The mini-trantrum the weather pattern threw has worn it out and basically put it to sleep. That nap will last through this 5-day period with dry weather, and only temperature changes, from a breezy chill today to a warming trend Saturday and Sunday, then a colder Presidents Day Monday into Tuesday as a cold front slips down from the north and Canadian high pressure builds to the north of New England.
TODAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 33-40. Wind W 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
TONIGHT: Variably cloudy. Lows 17-25. Wind WSW 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 43-50. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 25-33. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 47-54. Wind SW 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 30-38. Highs 39-46.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 10-18. Highs 37-44.

DAYS 6-10 (FEBRUARY 22-26)
Fair and milder early in the period. Episodes of wet weather and continued mild for the middle to end of the period.

DAYS 11-15 (FEBRUARY 27-MARCH 3)
A mainly dry pattern expected but a trend back to colder weather is expected.

  1. Thanks TK !

Don’t worry, I don’t intend to wake the weather pattern up. It can have a 3 month snooze fest. 🙂 🙂

  2. Good morning and thank you TK. So we’re into a period of Tranquil weather.
I don’t like tranquil weather, except when I have outdoor activities. 😀

    But I’ll survive.

I will say that I would rate today yet another 10 for a fine Winter’s Day. Beautiful out there with Blue skies and all of that snow glistening in the sunshine with cold temperatures, but comfortably cold. Not that bone chilling cold we could have.

Looking ahead to see if anything can come down the pipe. Looks like the absolute earliest chance is 2/26 with several thereafter. Way too early to know whether they indeed materialize and even if they do, what the precipitation type would be. Just nice
to know that there is possible action out there a ways.

Red Sox start full workouts today. Looking forward to their season.
Except for 1 thing. They need to FIRE the manager. Another inept BOZO!!

I am not a basketball fan, but even I took notice of the SCREW JOB the officials laid
on the C’s last night to cost them the game. Pure BUSH League!!!!

    re: B’s
Isn’t funny that they started winning as soon as management got some stones and shipped out that toad of a coach. 😀 I know that some here thought Clod was a great coach. Count me OUT in that regard. I NEVER liked that bozo since the 1st game he coached. NEVER. He won in spite of himself.

Oh in case you didn’t catch it, I used Clod on purpose. Yes I know his name is Claude.

      1. Just because you do not share my views on the coaches? 😀
        I am entitled you know.

I played both hockey and baseball for many many years, not just pick games up but in organized leagues. I do KNOW a little bit about each sport. 😀

Just because you like Clod, does not mean I need to like him.

  3. Thank you, TK.

JP Dave, Once again I’m in agreement with you on today being a 10. We’re blessed to have at least had a taste of winter the last week or so. And this week, an added bonus with two beauties. My morning run was magnificent as a result. As for more winter, it’ll come back for a bit, but for those longing for spring the wait is almost over.

As for Claude Julien, I disagree with you JP Dave. While I think he coaches a boring style of hockey he did pretty well this team until two years ago. I do think they should have fired him prior to this season. You and I share a similar sour taste in our mouths regarding John Farrell. Articulate man, perhaps. Congenial. But, really poor in-game management skills. And yes, apparently the Celtics got screwed big time last night. It’s bad when officials decide the outcome of a game by way of a bad call.

    1. Unfortunately, last night’s Celtics game epitomized the current state of the NBA, unwatchable product.

    2. We can disagree. No problem there. And we’ll leave it at that.

I have plenty to do to keep me busy until the next snow chance, should it even come along. If not, I’ll be happy with Spring commencing. Looking forward to some fishing again. I love being out on the river with the birds chirping, the gentle breeze blowing the tree branches. I get to see an occasional snake sliver along and one even traversed the tops of my sneakers. I have seen hawks, eagles and blue cranes. It’s so peaceful. I love it. And I get to catch fish and sometimes many fish. 😀 I do catch and release.

      1. JPDave – I love your post. I, too, wouldn’t mind one more big snowstorm but looking forward to spring. Your post sounds so nice and peaceful and I’m sure the fish are happy you let them go! 🙂

        1. One could argue that we should just leave the fish alone.
I can’t help it. It’s in my blood since my Grandfather first
took me fishing at 5 years old. There is just something about the whole experience.

Frankly, I am so against hunting and the same should apply to the fishing, but alas, it does not with me.
Oh well. What can I say. My wife enjoys fishing with me sometimes, but it tugs at her conscience as she feels very badly about possibly hurting the fish. Sometimes she
won’t come with me because of this.

I understand this, but sorry, I still enjoy catching the fish. I do, however, go out of my way to try not to hurt the fish and I do release them, sometimes after taking a photo or 2. 😀

          1. But you catch and release. We always did too with a few rare exceptions when we were hungry for trout or a salmon dinner. I don’t think the places you fish or I fished (and would love to resume) are where the problem is. I could be very wrong. I agree with rainshine. I took a deeply needed calming breath as I read your post. I think fishing is about the only place I have ever stayed in one place for more than 10 minutes.

          2. I kind of feel the same way your wife feels – but as long as they swim right away fast they are probably fine. I love animals (sometimes more than people – ha ha just joking) but as long as you release them and it makes you happy – great. 🙂

            1. I had to purchase a havahart trap for a squirrel that somehow got into our basement this week. I felt terrible as I love animals, but once caught, I realeased him back into the wild. I hope he’ll be okay. I have a huge soft spot in my heart for all animals.

              1. You and my wife. Although I love animals, I have ZERO use for some of them, squirrels among them. They did thousands of dollars of damage to the facia boards of the house near the roof and they got into the house! and scared the crap our of my wife. I treat em like rats and mice. They can go as far as I am concerned.

Now rabbits hold a special place in my heart. I love them.

    1. I did notice. I think the summer did as well. I don’t know if it is the configuration of our neighborhood but it seems to be windy in general a good part of the time.

  4. Just came in from lunch. WOW!! My car thermometer was reading 40 Degrees.
It feels like a beach day out there! What a day!

  5. Nice spring story, JP Dave. Yes, there are aspects of spring I like, too. I mourn the passing of winter, but we can have very enjoyable spring days. My issue is that we often have raw, cloudy springs that transition at a certain point into hot summer. Last year was an exception. And actually in recent years we’ve experienced some nice stretches in April and May. I’m hoping for that.

  6. JPDave. I’m sure others would agree, but you’re just awesome and a tremendous reason why this forum is so special.

    1. I agree. Thank you JPDave for all the links and maps, and TK for a great blog. So many to learn from here.

    2. Thank you all, but hey, TK is THE MAN!!!! Thank you TK!
This is the BEST place to come for the REAL weather details.

      I love it here.

        1. I always look forward to reading your comments and also thank you JPDave for taking the time to post the data from the many computer models!

  7. I would really enjoy one last serious snow storm to get excited about. Snow chances are diminishing although we all know, that can change well into April. However, any blockbuster we could potentially experience would likely be negated by rising sun angle, longer days and climatologically rising surface temperatures. Best of both worlds: heavy snow that may not “stick” around too long as we strut toward Spring 😀

  8. Like some people do not Summer, others do not like Winter, I am not the biggest fan of spring. I do stuff in spring, like hike and Bike, but I suffer with extremely bad allergies in the spring time. (April) Even taking my extremely powerful allergy season does not mean I do not get an allergy attack. (been hospitalized because I got sick on top of my allergies) I never look forward to spring, Only thing good about spring is those last ski weekends and then summer is on its way.

    1. Sorry to hear that. I used to have unbelievable allergies in the Summer.
They used to call it hay fever. Rag weed and golden rod were the culprits.
Somehow, I grew out of it. By the time I was in my 30s, it no longer affected me.
      Funny how that happens sometimes.

My it be a mild allergy season for you.

        1. My dad had horrible asthma as a youth. Kept him from being enlisted when he tired to do so. He outgrew that. Several of my grands have milk allergies. I suspect the increase there is from stuff we use in the environment and food.

  9. As our weather quiets down, my goodness the system out west is unleashing some serious rain/floods/mudslides. Satellite photos of the storm are incredible. San Fran had its lowest barometric pressure in recorded history. I think it was down to 984 mb. Pretty wild on 101 from what I sm seeing. Pretty remarkable their long term draught is gone in 1 season.

    1. It is feast or famine out there. SF drought was not as bad as previous drought according to my brother in law. They didn’t have anywhere near the restrictions. It was southern part that was worse and is still in drought.

  10. Yeah pretty sure that’s what I read JP Dave. They don’t normally get systems like that. Vicki yes it was worse in Southern California but that draught is also going to be eliminated after these these two systems. Remarkable imo.

    1. wow! with all of those monster storms coming in from the Pacific, that’s all they could manage.

      crazy stuff. Thanks

  11. JP Dave – I hope this gets posted before it is updated, but let me add my feelings towards you. What would we do without you? Thank you for being here!
