Entering The Heat Zone

10:49PM

The smoke that drifted in from Canada above us came in 2 stages today, one this morning that filtered the sun for most of the morning hours, and another batch for a couple hours during the afternoon. A few more smoke patches may drift across the sky through tomorrow.

Here’s the difference between here and Oklahoma City. We’re not going to be near or above 100 for days and days. We have a heatwave coming, 3 or possibly 4 days (Wednesday-Saturday though not everyone will hit 90 Wednesday). A break comes Sunday and early next week. It’s too early to tell if heat will return mid or late next week. One thing is for sure, above normal temperatures and dry weather will be the rule for several days to come.

For more on the heat, see this link from our friends at the National Weather Service:

  1. Talk about uncomfortable nights on Thursday and Friday!!

Who thinks we hit 100 on Thursday and Friday?

    1. Hi Hadi.

With some debris possible off of any thunderstorm complexes and the smoke patches, I’ll guess the temp falls just short of 100F, maybe 96F to 98F……Thanks TK for the writeup on the smoke. Looking up through the pine trees on the campground, the sky did seem so hazy and yet the breeze was from the east and northeast and the humidity was dropping. Also, the distant view looked very hazy. Makes sense now.

  2. Its going to be hot not matter how you slice it or dice it Thursday or Friday so take it easy. Thankfully this will be a short stay of this big time heat. The 80s for early next week will seem cool.

  3. For the first time since early spring, for the heck of it I checked out Henry Margusity on AccuWeather and he hinted at the Gulf of Mexico opening up for possible tropical development early next week. Right now there is a wave approaching the Carribean and something forming off of Africa.

    1. Phillip there is also a low west of Bermuda that has a good chance of becoming tropical. I do not see it as a mainland threst though.

  4. TK my husband said the sunrise yesterday was spectacular. I was telling him that the haze was from the fires. Thanks for letting us know.

    1. You’re welcome. We had alot more smoke in the sky today. Not really true haze yet. That will be here tomorrow & Friday, and probably Saturday morning.
