  1. Summer coming on full force with the heat and humidity the next few days.
Thunderstorm Index just at 1 tomorrow since I don’t expect severe weather and I would say less than a 20% chance of that happening.

  2. Forgot to say this in my previous post and I posted this question on Barry’s blog. With a chance some areas could see 100 degree temperatures what do you perfer a 0 degree day or a 100 degree day? I would perfer a 0 degree day since you could dress for the cold and the cold does not bother me like the high heat and humidity does.

    1. I’ll take a 0 degree day. I’ll even take a minus degree day over the high heat. I would not live in an area that had this as a steady diet in the summer but for a few days it’s all right.

  3. Jimmy, thanks for the update regarding thunderstorms, but with so much hot air tomorrow, I would say it is not worth mentioning or giving a specific number on your scale. I just learned from Jeremy Reiner’s evening blog (and Barry’s) that it can be “too hot” to rain just like in the winter it can be “too cold” to snow due to warm air at all levels of the atmosphere.

Also regarding your survey on the WBZ blog (a 0 deg. vs. 100 deg. day) for me it is a 0 deg. day in a heartbeat as long as the wind chills aren’t too low. I was thinking about posting my answer over there with yours, but I just don’t want to deal with those trolls. They are attacking Barry once again this evening…as always unfortunately.

  4. TK thanks for the “smoke” update. How come though that none of the tv mets have mentioned it? If it wasn’t for you, I would have thought clouds or haze as probably most people are thinking.

Also as for Jimmy’s question, my bet is that TK likes both equally…am I correct? 🙂

TK you have always said that you love all kinds of weather, but surely there must at least one type of weather you don’t like or at least can only tolerate for so long?

    1. I love all weather. If I had less tolerance for extreme heat or extreme cold, it would probably be cold, so based on that I’ll give the edge to the 100 over the 0.

Actually Harvey did mention the smoke on last night’s 11PM newscast. 🙂

    2. Philip I was thinking the very same thing this morning as I listened to the weather. No one I have listened to has mentioned the smoke

    1. Hadi I saw your comments and they were polite and to the point. Sadly, the posters on the BZ blog have their own agenda and could care less about common sense which for some reason they are touting this morning. Go figure.

  5. I would take a zero degree day over a 100, but I don’t mind the heat the way we get here in NE.

  6. TK is there a chance of Barry doing some guest posts here or would that infringe on a contract he has with BZ? I just feel so badly for him that he is attacked all of the time on the BZ blog. As you know, preparing and posting blog topics takes an incredible amount of time.

  7. 0 degrees or 100 degrees? I guess I would have to say 0 degrees. It’s always easier to put on more layers and bundle up – assuming you can. I thjnk it’s easier to get warm than to get cooler.

Like TK – I love all the seasons and all the different changes in temp. and weather conditions.

I am not doubting myself – but if we ask ourselves this question next winter – I wonder if my answer will be the same! 🙂 I think I will still go for 0 degrees.

  8. TK – I agree with Vicki. I think I have mentioned it before. It would be nice to have Barry on here.

  9. Thanks everyone for chiming in on my question on whether you would perfer a 0 degree day or 100 degree day.
Anyone heading up to Northern New England today watch out for the POSSIBLITY of some nasty storms as they are in a sligh risk for severe weather today. For us here I don’t think the cap will be hard to break but of a note the storm prediction center has a 2% chance of tornado Mass Pike North 5% chance for wind with the exception of a portion of the south coast 5% chance of hail Mass Pike North. Will see what happens. Stay cool everyone!

  10. I’ll Take the 100 degree day anytime over 0 degree. I can’t stand the cold.

    Many thanks

  11. Late next week looks to be very hot again, although from about Sunday through Wednesday look to be seasonal and quite comfortable.

  12. Will take any break we could get at this point.
For the people that responded to my question on this blog and BZ blog it looks like more people would perfer a 0 degree day rather than a 100 degree day.

    1. Jimmy, I suspect if you asked the same question to most tv newscasters, they would prefer the 100 degree temps. All they do is whine about winter…and snow especially.

      1. Philip I hate when they wine the cold and snow. If they don’t like having to deal with it send their resumes
out to places it does not snow. I was having a conversation with a gentlemen a few years ago and we were
talking about weather and he said every part of the lower 48 has a couple of month stretch where the weather
        is not good.

  13. I never commented on which I’d prefer, 0 degrees or 100 degrees for several reasons.
Of course the temperature isn’t the only factor, you also need to take into account the wind, humidity, and time of year as in how strong the sun is.

Today was bearable because of the active wind, so i would probably have picked this over a 0 degree day. Now if there was no wind, the 0 degree day may be my pick if there wasn’t much of a wind chill factor.

Today was very humid, so I probably would have preferred a 0 degree day. Now if today’s humidity was a lot lower, than the 100 degree day may have been my pick.

If the 0 degree day was in December, it would feel a lot worse if it was a 0 degree day in March because of the different sun angle.

So there you have it, it’s a tough question, I don’t have an answer…

  14. These dew points today were very high and it felt like Florida and not SNE. With overnight lows in some places close to the 80 degree mark sets the stage for what I feel will be temperatures getting close to the century mark tomorrow if not hitting it.

  15. Down by the Bourne Bridge……yesterday (Thursday), the area had a breeze off of Buzzards Bay and I’m pretty sure the temp fell just short of 90F, but the dew point had to be more than 75F. Anticipating more of a westerly component to the breeze today, so, it should be interesting to see how hot it gets down here today. Last night was one of the warmest nights I have ever experienced camping………..I hear by the radio forecasts of a cool down, which will be great !!………… I would not bet against the central US ridge reloading again, with another piece of intense heat breaking off into the northeast before the summer is done.

      1. Thanks Hadi, I have that map pulled up but it shows a 99 temp reading for Scituate at the moment. I am questioning its accuracy.

          1. If you look at the bottom of the page it will have wha the weather observers are posting for temps

  16. 88 at logan currently at 8:55 AM!!! Maybe we have a shot at an all time high, if its gonna be this hot let’s break some records!!!

  17. Hadi,

I agree. I do Believe that the record will be challenged, if NOT broken today.
Not only is it 91 at Logan already, but the dewpoint is 75!!!!! INSANE!!

Btw, wind is WEST! That brings us our hottest weather.

So I think it may very well happen today.

  18. OS i have to agree Logan might end up being the hotest area of the day!! Like I said what’s the difference between 102 and 105 so we might as well break the record.

  19. My home weather station (located about 12 feet from the ground) is registering a temp of 89 with a 80 degree dew point.

  20. It is 92 here in Hingham at 0935 and going up rapidly. I will take 0 anytime over 100 I have heated gloves to ride my motorcycle and warm clothes so I stay toasty. I was out at 2000 last night driving down the freeway and I was still toasty. Don’t forget to check on the old folks today.

  21. Dew point at Logan down to 70. Better than the 75 that it was earlier.
Hopefully, we’ll get that down into the 60s.
