Monday Forecast

3:53PM

DAYS 1-5 (MAY 22-26)
Apologies for the late update today. Things are pretty much on track, forecast-wise. Looking at guidance and disregarding the timing and placement on some of it as I think it has Wednesday’s rain too far southeast (should be in more of the region), and Thursday’s wet weather arriving too early (slowing the timing down and making Friday wetter.
REMAINDER OF TODAY: Overcast. Areas of drizzle and rain. Highs 52-60. Wind E to SE up to 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: Cloudy. Areas of fog and drizzle. Rain likely early. Chance of rain favoring areas south of Boston overnight. Temperatures steady 52-60. Wind SE to S up to 10 MPH.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy early with lingering rain over southern RI and southeastern MA, otherwise partly sunny. Highs 60-67 southeastern MA and southern RI, 68-75 elsewhere. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy evening. Mostly cloudy overnight. Chance of rain southern areas toward dawn. Lows 55-62. Wind light variable.
WEDNESDAY: Cloudy. Rain likely, favoring eastern MA, RI, and southeastern CT, during the morning and midday. Partial clearing favoring northwestern areas later. Highs 63-70. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain at night. Lows 54-62. Highs 62-70.
FRIDAY: Cloudy. Periods of rain. Lows 53-60. Highs 60-68.

DAYS 6-10 (MAY 27-31)
Memorial Day Weekend looks mixed, with lingering clouds and a few showers Saturday May 27, fair weather Sunday May 28, and variably cloudy with a risk of showers Monday May 29. Additional episodes of showers are possible May 30-31. Temperatures start the period near to below normal then average closer to or slightly above normal.

DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 1-5)
The first several days of June will feature typical weather for the season with a progressive flow jet stream, a few passing showers and possible t-storms on a couple days, and variable temperatures averaging close to normal.

  1. Thank you for a wonderful weather blog! I had a field trip planned -at the zoo, no less – for 50 + pre-k children and asked and relied on Vicki for guidance. Vicki consulted and advised me that we had a small window for ok weather. This was based on your blog insights. And great news! She/you were correct and the field trip was a success. Cannot thank you and Vicki enough. 50 + preschoolers are challenging on a good day, forget about a bad day thank you one and all

    1. Hi Cheryl. How very special to see you posting here. I just saw this and am so very happy you have joined our WHW family. Thank you for your kind words, my friend, but it is the folks here who are the experts.

      1. Thank you. I look forward to getting the scoop on our crazy New England weather from this site!

    2. Welcome! Always nice to see new persons join the blog. Please don’t be a stranger. 😀

  2. Ya know…it really has not been a bad day. DP makes it feel warmer. We only had 0.09 inch rain. My friend who you helped with weather yesterday and who said thank you got the field trip in. If she did an outdoor field trip with 55 pre-K students, I figure we have nothing to complain about 🙂

    And my windows are open.

  3. Thanks Tk . I know it’s Monday but I have a big job in Kingston Saturday morning spreading 13 yds of mulch on a 96′ straight line ( that’s a lot of mulch to hand spread ) I want to arrive at 7am . I need to place the mulch order by Wednesday early morning do you think as of now I could possibly move forward .

    1. We may start a little unsettled but I think the day itself will be more of a cloud event than a rain event. I’d keep any outdoor plans.

  4. Explosion at Ariana Grande concert in Manchester England. CNN reporting 19 killed and 50 injured.

  5. At the moment I expect the following corrections to be made on future runs…

Take the early Wednesday system closer (more rain).

Slow the Thursday system down (Thursday night & Friday).

Keep more upper low around Saturday resulting in more cloudiness.

Completely alter the track of the system around Memorial Day to one that is much further northwest.

  6. Apologies for the rookie question of the day but what is the normal temperature range for next weekend? I saw it will possibly be at or above normal but I’m not sure what normal is – we see normal so seldom here!

    1. For Boston, the average low is around 54 and the average high is around 70 for the late weekend of May.
