Sunday Forecast

8:13AM

DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 18-22)
A warm and humid air mass will be in control through Monday with cloudiness a little more dominant today as the wind is more southerly, and sunshine becoming more dominant Monday as the wind is more southwesterly. A few spot showers today will favor Cape Cod but are possible anywhere. Much of tonight and Monday will be rain-free, but showers/thunderstorms develop to the west and northwest during Monday and the remains of those should arrive from west to east Monday evening. I’m not feeling that the timing will allow for severe storms to be an issue but some flash flooding is possible especially to the west as heavier rain may occur over the same area for a long period of time. The cold front responsible for this will fall apart over the region Tuesday which will still be somewhat humid and slightly unsettled. Another front will come along Wednesday with an additional shower/thunderstorm threat and will clear things out for Thursday, assuming current timing holds several days in advance.
TODAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Slight risk of isolated showers or thunderstorms, favoring Cape Cod. Humid. Highs 75-80 South Coast, 80-86 elsewhere. Wind S to SW 10-20 MPH.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Humid. Lows 63-70. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY: Partly sunny. Isolated showers and thunderstorms through mid afternoon then a better chance of showers/storms west to east evening and night. Humid. Highs 77-82 South Coast, 83-88 elsewhere. Wind SW 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Chance of showers. Humid. Lows in the 60s. Highs in the 70s.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Less humid. Lows in the 60s. Highs from the middle 70s to lower 80s.
THURSDAY: Partly cloudy. Lows from the upper 50s to middle 60s. Highs from the middle 70s to lower 80s.

DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 23-27)
Generally progressive flow expected with broad passing trough bringing the greatest risk of unsettled weather mid to late period. Temperatures near to above normal.

DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 28-JULY 2)
Similar pattern expected to continue, passing shower threats, generally seasonable but somewhat variable temperatures.

  1. Wishing all the dads a very Happy Father’s Day! I hope your day is exactly as you hoped it would be.

Happy birthday to Mrs SSK. A double celebration at your home 🙂

  2. Thanks TK! Happy Father’s Day to all the dads!

I agree with TK’s thoughts on the weather for the next few days. The timing does not look as though it will be favorable for much if any severe weather early this week in eastern MA. Anything that makes it towards us will probably be more run of the mill. Could be a very different story to our west though. Flash flooding will likely be an issue, along with scattered severe storms capable of damaging winds. And as some of the NWS discussions are noting, given very high PWATs and low LCLs, along with good helicity in the lowest 1km, a tornado or two is possible.

  3. Thanks TK and Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there!!!
WxWatcher which you just said at the end of your comment one of the reasons I will be watching the radar tomorrow. An Enhanced Risk is up from the SPC for my part of CT.

  4. Happy birthday Vicki . TK excellent forcast for yesterday we went 7:30-6:00 without any issues.

    1. Love it. Grandson was laughing at my dancing.

Thank you. It is also Sir Paul’s birthday!!!! A fact, as a teen, I thought was very exciting

          1. And on fathers days and birthdays, I think I need to request that mom nature place the umbrella beneath the showers and not over them 😉

  5. back from fishing. Anther successful day.

    Final tally:

8 Largemouth Bass (6 on shiners, 2 on Night crawlers), all but decent as one was small. One was 18 1/2 inches and 3 pounds. Not bad for Suburban Boston.
7 black crappies (5 on Shiners and 2 on night crawleres)
3 Large White perch all on night crawlers
17 blue gill of assorted sizeds all on night crawlers.

Went through a dozen shiners and 3 dozen night crawlers.
Every shiner I used ended up in a fishes mouth. Every single one of them.
Some got off, but the fish got the shiner.

Here is a shot of the Charles River today.

  6. Happy Birthday, Vicki!!

Very humid out there today. Lot of moisture available for tomorrow. Mix of clouds and sunshine here in Wrentham, the breeze feels good as it’s pretty warm when the Sun is out.

        1. Well you will be fighthing me as I keeping trying to push it in the other direction.

One of our ACS popped it’s cookies last heat wave.
About to install a new portable one now. 😀

  7. Absolutely perfect day. Clouds acted as a buffer for sun but it appeared quite often. Wind was natures fan. Brilliant sun now. Wind died down but hoping it is picking back up. Family all here ……perfect!!

  8. Trying to figure out what I just watched on the channel 5 at 5 newscast. Kelly Ann who was the meteorologist just showed 100 on her high temp map for Beverly and mentioned it 2 times with all seriousness during her weather segment and said there was a wide variety of temperatures in the region today. How does this happen?????

  9. Hey jpdave I saw your post and the picture earlier about fishing. Where is that place exactly you went too today? I am trying to discover new places. Thanks!

    1. I had missed if so thank you for mentioning.

      Great photo JPD. Nice day

Kane. There are tons of places around here. If you want to ever head this way, I’d be happy to ask on Sutton FB page. Might be too far but Justin case

  10. Current thoughts…

Storms make it into far western New England at the end of the day Monday. They don’t survive the trip east in full vigor, probably remnant showers and embedded thunder, and the coverage may not be widespread.

An impulse may bring some heavier showers/storms to southeastern areas pre-dawn Tuesday. The front never really gets through fully so there may be a few pop up boomers Tuesday PM.

  11. Dear heavens, what a night. Wind in the trees, clouds flying by, air smells like the promise of summer….well, missed with downy from the baby’s laundry in dryer. Truly doesn’t get much better than this.

    1. And recently discovered….a fly in my wine. Well, if it were all perfect, we would be spoiled

  12. Tom, that disturbance is now having advisories issued on it by the NHC as Potential Tropical Cyclone Two. This marks the first time they’ve issued advisories before a system actually forms. However, looking at satellite, it looks like it is probably already a tropical depression or storm.

Also, the disturbance closer to home is continuing to slowly organize and is expected to develop in the next couple of days. Unusually active start to this season.

    1. I think I like that change (potential tropical cyclone). Have to see it used for a season or 2 and see what it’s pros and cons are.

      1. I’m all for it. If it’s in the best interest of public safety, why not? Get some more lead time on warnings, and an earlier idea of what the NHC is thinking for track and intensity. All in all I think the NHC is doing a great job keeping up with the times. Better graphics, new and more effective products including operational storm surge warnings this year. Good stuff.

    1. Thank you, Captain. Happy Father’s Day to you

Thank you to everyone in my woodshill weather family for helping to make my birthday memoriable. I adore each and every one of you !!

  13. A little late to the party, but…happiest of birthdays Vicki! And a happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there 🙂

  14. Happy to leave the mid-90s with mid-70s dewpoints in Houston. Minute Maid Park was fantastic, definitely among the Top 5 ballparks I’ve been to. We (my self, my father, and my fiancee) were at the 2-1 win on Friday. Also visited Galveston, and NASA while we were there. Traveled to Kansas City today. One obviously difference between here and back home – there was a field full of cows grazing right next to the airport. Won’t see that in Boston. We’ll be at the game on Monday, and intend to spend the rest of Monday and Tuesday exploring what KC and neighboring Kansas have to offer. We head home on Wednesday.

I did manage to write my weekly outlook and posted it: https://stormhqblog.wordpress.com/2017/06/19/weekly-outlook-june-19-25-2017/

I haven’t looked at any weather data for the past 3 days (I am on vacation after all), so I didn’t have a good feel for the forecast, and didn’t go as in-depth as I usually might. Looks like I’ll miss a busy day at the office on Monday.

Once I return and I download my pictures from my camera, I’ll post the link to them. Warning – I take a LOT of pictures when I travel.

  15. Is the HRRR wacked out this morning?
It has decent convection into Eastern MA around 8-9PM and keeps it going
most of the night. Far far different than the NAM 3KM.

  16. HRRR showing discrete storm near my area around 4pm. Will see if any discrete storms form ahead of the main line.
