  1. Thank you, TK!

Seriously, have I said how much I detest the pop-up that I’m posting too quickly 😉

In the first image, an Infrared image, Hudson Bay is devoid of cloudiness.

But, in the 2nd image, a visible image, it is very easy to see the thick plume of forest fire smoke, especially over western and northwestern Hudson Bay.

In looking at the upcoming 500mb flow, I don’t think that in the near term, a large parcel of smoke will be directed towards New England, but it is up there, the fires are still burning and with a northwesterly flow into New England at 500mb, a very smoky, hazy day is possible until the atmosphere becomes cleansed of the smoke.

  3. Question for those who deal with grants. Is it usual for the people who give you the grant to take the equipment that you bought with the money

    1. More info.
If you buy equipment with grant money, it belongs to the institution where the grant money was given.
So if you are at say, MIT, get a NIH grant and buy a centrifuge or some other large piece of lab equipment, it belongs to MIT.

  4. I hope I am not getting hacked on FB. I sent out a friend request to someone a month or so ago and never heard anything. Then, yesterday, I got a confirmation from this person that they friended me. But it hasn’t shown up on FB yet. I sent her a message asking her about this and she hasn’t replied.

Then, just now, I got an e-mail from a cousin who I wanted to friend on FB some months ago. I talked to her on messenger but she wouldn’t be friends. This email today had her name but no subject line. I sent her a message on FB asking her if she sent me an email. I haven’t opened up the email unless she confirms she sent it. I know I have been on FB before and left – the last time due to technical problems. But if I continue to get these weird things – well, I don’t need the stress. I’m not leaving FB now and hope not to. Does anyone here on FB get things like this?

    1. I have not had it happen but I know people that have. Many times it seems to have resolved itself too.

  5. TK,

Would you expect much wind down around Lakeville tomorrow afternoon
and early evening? I am thinking not much. I told my wife so anyway as we
will be spending the afternoon and evening on the lake. 😀

    Many thanks

    1. I don’t think too much with high pressure overhead.

Glad to see there will be comfortable dewpoints !

    1. I was at Humarock beach today and id say a few swells approached 3 to maybe 4 ft on this east facing beach. Sad to see a swimmer losing their life on Nantucket, where the swells appeared much larger on the south side of the island.

      1. they should make it so no kids can go in, the surf there is just to rough at the moment, there is a reason why its called surfside. I shore break skimboard, one of the few places in Massachusetts that allows it when lifeguards are on duty. Actually rented one out for the passed couple of days.
