DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 24-28)
High pressure remains parked atop New England with fair and warm weather to continue through Tuesday. A cold front will move into New England Wednesday and may allow an avenue for some of the moisture from Hurricane Maria well to the south to flow into New England. The storm it self will be pushed eastward out to sea along with the front Thursday and that day will turn breezy and cooler here.
TODAY: Sunny. Highs 68-76 coast, 77-85 interior with a few valley areas 85-90. Wind light variable with light sea breezes coast.
TONIGHT: Clear. Lows 50-55 interior, 55-60 coast. Wind light variable.
MONDAY: Sunny. Highs 68-76 coast, 77-85 interior with a few valley areas 85-90. Wind light variable with light sea breezes coast.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Increasing chance of showers and possible thunderstorms. Lows in the 60s. Highs in the 70s.
THURSDAY: Clearing. Windy. Lows in the 50s. Highs in the 60s.

DAYS 6-10 (SEPTEMBER 29-OCTOBER 3)
Fair/breezy/cool September 29. Fair, warming up September 30. A storm of rain and wind may evolve during October 1-2 as a trough swing through the Northeast, with fair weather returning after its passage for the end of the period.

DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 4-8)
Fair weather and a warming trend, a round of showers, then possibly cooling down again late in the period.

  1. Thank you, TK. This is one of those days when you walk out the door first thing and thing…..hmm, going to be a hot one. Then you wonder if it will be a heat wave and then realize it is late September and summers fairwell smile

    1. We’ll get a bonus day out of this stretch tomorrow for sure, and maybe even Tuesday.

Once we get to October that summer feel is definitely gone even if we get the anomalous warmth. That’s when it just becomes a warm autumn day.

  2. In foxboro at Pats game sitting in the sun. Holy crap is it hot. We are drenched.

Aside from the first rush they are looking like sh!t so far.

  3. Asking for my niece: Her stepson is getting married this Thursday–a destination wedding, on the Outer Banks. What are your thoughts about Maria? (She’s not invited, but is she going to show up anyway?)

    1. Hahahaha. My post on FB was that I’m far too old for these type games. A win is a win but darn that had some ugly moments. I enjoyed watching Wilson…

  4. I’ve been a season ticket holder for about 20 years and I’ve never been so hot and sweaty at a regular season game as I was today. By the end of the game the breeze had died down and it was just a sticky, uncomfortable mass of humanity. Got home at 6pm to see it was 77 out with a DP of 72. Crazy stuff.

  5. Expected a close game. Got a close game. Got a win. Bottom line. On to the next game.

What we lacked all summer is set-up right now. Part of the reason: MJO is coming out of a very weak state into a slightly less weak phase 2 to 3. MJO spent a lot of time in the “inner circle” on the chart which means it was not a huge factor and didn’t help set up a ridge in places I thought it would. There are other players too but this was one of them.

      1. I thought we’d see a stronger one in August. We did not. It was much much weaker and further east for a while then extended west somewhat but never really built.

Now we have one of the “right on top of us” ridges with a jet stream way north. This is actually not uncommon for late summer and even early autumn given our current set-up. It just seems more pronounced since we lacked it. This is still nothing like the ridge of September 1983. Oh boy. That was a ridge…

        1. Lived in Southie back in the early to mid 80s and had a loft apartment with a roof deck. I remember spending many evenings up on that deck in Sept of 83!!!

    1. If you have that written down, turn it into 93.7. This team has not scored a lot of points and a rookie came close to beating Brady at home for first time so they are asking for proof of anyone who expected 33 points. That said…Sure was a close game. I think the focus was a bit lost for reasons not typical and Brady had his sulky face on for a bit which is never good but he snapped out of it. I do not say this as an insult but with absolute understanding that is part of mind games greats play with themselves…part of the reason they are greats.

  6. NWS San Juan recently tweeted a picture of their Doppler radar, the dome literally ripped off it with heavy damage to underlying components as well after Maria. That’s pretty insane. I don’t think we’ve ever seen a WSR-88D take that kind of damage from a storm. It’s literally ruined. They’re designed to withstand ~135mph wind with no problem. Apparently the San Juan radar is elevated, so it probably got into winds well above that threshold, maybe in the 150-180mph range. That certainly presents a safety hazard going forward… can’t exactly replace one of those radars overnight. Hopefully no more hurricanes for them this season.

  7. Matt, I haven’t been on computer past few days. So sorry to hear of your loss. As I said on FB – I know the feeling to lose a pet. It really hurts.

      1. Back in my day, these HHH temps would have been long gone by now and I would have been wearing a light jacket to school.

        1. I remember plenty of very warm to hot days in September as a kid, and so do my older brothers. We were just more tolerant of it when we were younger. 🙂

    1. I noticed 🙂 And I have already purchased my first Christmas gift.

Halloween decorations are 3/4 complete and as I put them up, I’m planning ahead for my Christmas decorations !!!

      1. And I’m planning for my Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners! (of course there will be turkey, stuffing, gravy – all my comfort foods) Can hardly wait for that! 🙂

        1. Really? I was a bit afraid to say I’ve already started planning that. Good work, rainshine! Hallmark’s Christmas is coming up also!

  8. Speaking of snow I can’t wait till we start tracking snow threats.
TK does the almighty Almanac have any shot of being right with their cold and snowy winter along with their red flag dates of big snow potentials Jan 20-23rd Feb 4th – 7th Feb 16-19 Mar 1-3 Mar 20-23rd. I trust your crystal ball more than I do there’s.

    1. Are we talking about The Farmer’s Almanac or The Old Farmer’s Almanac? I haven’t seen either one yet.
