Wednesday Forecast

3:18PM

DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 18-22)
High pressure dominates through the weekend with fair weather and above normal temperatures but slight variations in day to day temperatures as a weak nearly “invisible” cold front comes by early Friday. Still looking like great weather for viewing Orionid Meteors peaking on the nights of October 20 and 21, as well as the Head Of The Charles Regatta which will take place on the Charles River between Cambridge and Boston on October 21 and 22.
REMAINDER OF TODAY: Sunny. Highs 65-73. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Clear. Lows 45-53. Wind light SW.
THURSDAY: Sunny. Highs 68-75. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY: Partly cloudy early then sunny. Lows in the 50s. Highs in the 60s.
SATURDAY: Sunny. Lows in the 40s. Highs in the 70s.
SUNDAY: Sunny. Lows in the 50s. Highs in the 70s.

DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 23-27)
A transition takes place during this period with the high pressure ridge moving to the east and a low pressure trough dropping into the Great Lakes and Midwest, probably in 2 stages with the second being the stronger push. This leaves southern New England on the warm side of things through October 24 with dry weather to start then an increased shower risk by later October 24. Episodic unsettled weather will accompany a downward trend in temperatures mid period although it may actually spike up a little bit very end of the period between push #1 and push #2.

DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 28-NOVEMBER 1)
A new weather pattern should feature below normal temperatures and a possible period of storminess – will continue to fine-tune as it gets closer.

  1. Thanks TK!

It appears that this particular year the first week of fall will coincide with Halloween. 😉

Speaking of that holiday, why are schools all of a sudden banning Halloween and renaming it? As a kid, I used to have just as much fun on the day itself at school as at night trick-or-treating.

    1. The first week of fall already went by, but if you mean the new pattern, pretty much so yes. 🙂

To answer your second question, I’ll refrain from what I’d really like to say and just leave it at a head-shake. Carry on!

    2. I’ll head shake on the latter also. I lean left of center but am sick of all of this righteousness. Dr Seuss truly drove me over the edge. Kids see the fun and would see nothing else if adults didn’t make a big deal of it.

  2. Thank you, TK.

Yankees-Dodgers would be great. Would remind me of my childhood, watching the World Series on our family’s old Magnavox as Cosell would call Reggie’s homers. I hated Reggie, but I loved watching his clutch moments at the same time. Before Ortiz there was Reggie Jackson. Yes, I’m a Sox fan, but with the Sox out of it I’m rooting for good baseball. Can’t say I like the Astros that much, with the exception of Altuve who is a joy to watch if you’re a baseball fanatic like me. The Cubs had their magic last year. This year’s version of the Cubs is sleep-inducing. Much more soporific than the Red Sox. The Yankees just look like winners. Didi Gregorius is clutch and fun to watch. Judge is a monster. His flick-of-the-wrist double off the wall last night off a 2-2 slider down and away was pure power and batting technique. And Sanchez can flat out hit better than any catcher I’ve ever seen. His double to right-center the other day was a thing of beauty. He can’t catch very well (especially balls in the dirt, or really anything close to the ground), however, so he’s likely going to make the transition to first base or DH at some point. The pitching is suspect at times, but also includes stalwarts like Sabathia, Tanaka, Robertson, and Chapman.

    1. Agreed …..

Something made me switch over to baseball and as I result, I missed the Gordon Heyward injury.

Hope Astros don’t look back at game 4 as the time the ALCS slipped away from them.

  3. I love the warmer than normal weather, but am happy that those who like the cooler fall weather got a bit of it.

This is great though, October is flying by and I haven’t started with the cold season blahs.

Keep this going another 2 months and all we’ll have to freeze is January through late May. 🙂 🙂 🙂

  4. October is going way to darn fast, so much to do lol so many things to look into as well as dealing with classes.
With the talk above, I feel like people are over analyzing things. Some kids were always scared of certain costumes, there were reasons that some were off limits.
This attack on the holidays in schools was just starting when I was in high school. I do not understand how people can have a problem with Halloween. rooms use to be covered with lights, spiders, creepy crawlies and spider webs, Christmas , decorated from floor to ceiling with lights and decorations. Making the rings with holiday wishes and different phrases, I understand changing these Christmas parties into holiday parties, but to get rid of them entirely is stupid, Some of my best memories in school were the holiday season. In my high school they tried to make it so we did not do it, did that stop us, Nope. Teachers and some of the VPs even took part lol. ISC was decorated with Christmas stuff and other holiday stuff as well, there was a tree and a symbol from every holiday. Some of the deans and professors took part, so we thought it was alright to do. Next thing we knew the chancellor had people take it down so the Monday when we got back all of it was taken down. Everyone in the labs were all for the decorations, so what we did is decorate the areas of the labs and professors decorated if they wanted their office decorated lol.

  5. Can’t wait for the days when I come here and see 75 comments before 9:00 am. 🙂 Snow season is just around the corner.

    1. The way TK has been hinting, maybe as early as next month and perhaps enough to measure, not just flurries. We will see. 🙂

  6. Maybe its a 1 run (00z) hiccup ….

But the long range cool down doesn’t look so cool in the east ……..

    1. I had noticed that, but didn’t comment.
      Most especially the Euro. 😀

We shall see. TK doesn’t usually miss on this stuff.

    1. No surprises there JJ. The lack of precip for the last half of the summer and now first month of fall has flown under the radar. Elevated fire danger conditions out there today.

    1. Thanks Sue. It will be interesting if TK’s thoughts are similar.

I guess no repeat of winter 2015 for sure! 😉

      1. We certainly don’t need another 2015. As long as we have a couple of systems to get excited about, I will be happy.
