Thursday Forecast

2:56AM

DAYS 1-5 (MARCH 29-APRIL 2)
A warm front made an initial push into the region yesterday but didn’t make a major impact, and the front basically washed out, but a second surge of warmer air approaches today and passes tonight before cold front #1 comes through from west to east during Friday. The result of these fronts will be a couple episodes of rain showers and mild conditions. The weekend will be divided by cold front #2, which will have limited moisture and come through in the early hours of Sunday, so both daytimes will be dry, with Saturday being the milder of the 2 days, and a transition to cooler during Sunday. A warm front will approach the region Monday with cool air and clouds returning. Forecast details…
TODAY: Partly sunny morning. Mostly cloudy afternoon. Mid to late afternoon rain possible favoring areas west and north of Boston. Highs 47-55. Wind light SE to S.
TONIGHT: Cloudy. Rain showers likely. Lows 43-50. Wind S to SW 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy. Rain showers most likely in the morning, less likely in the afternoon. Highs 48-55 South Coast, 55-62 elsewhere. Wind SW 10-20 MPH, shifting to W.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 38-45. Wind W 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 50-57. Wind W 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
SUNDAY: Variably cloudy with a passing rain shower early, then partly cloudy to mostly sunny. Lows in the 40s. Highs in the 50s.
MONDAY: Clouding over. Lows in the 30s. Highs in the 40s.

DAYS 6-10 (APRIL 3-7)
A brief surge of warm air is possible April 3 before a strong cold front comes through and brings below normal temperatures for the remainder of the period. Precipitation threats will depend on the proximity of the boundary of warm/cold air, with rain showers possible at some point on April 3 and/or 4. The late portion of the period may see the threat of precipitation which could be liquid and/or frozen.

DAYS 11-15 (APRIL 8-12)
The region will likely remain near the boundary of warm and cold air meaning additional unsettled weather and changeable temperatures.

  1. That storm that missed us south a handful of days ago, then turned into a strong ocean storm and stalled several hundred miles east of us ……… sent large swells onto coastal Mass yesterday and with growing astronomical high tides, sent a decent amount of water into Brant Rock Village yesterday.

      1. I think people were surprised, I know I was.

Wind was so light yesterday, I did not consider for a second there could be tide issues. I haven’t driven by the ocean in a few days, so I didn’t know there were big swells until I recalled about that stalled ocean storm.

  2. Another Stellar say on tap. Love it!!!

Looking into the meteorological crystal ball….I don’t like the visions I am seeing.
    I see some white ahead.

    1. I’m ready for some baseball !!

Going to try to catch some of the game on TV, but at least listen on the radio as I’ll be driving my daughters to their Thursday after school commitments.

  3. This is not a high confidence statement, but in true New England spring fashion, some areas could approach 70 next Tuesday and be snowing by the end of next week. πŸ™‚

    1. No 70 or 60 for that matter from the tv mets. If anything, Eric has wet snow/rain for Tuesday.

  4. Sox off to a good start. It’s a Boston vs. Tampa afternoon / evening between the Sox & Bruins.

  5. Devers hit an inside the park homerun against the Astros in the last game the Sox played in 2017, and on the first meaningful game of 2018 Nunez hits an inside the park homerun. How weird is that.

  6. Not a lot of info here but this is a map from NWS showing the March 29 1984 storm that I often bring up as one of the more impressive events I have lived through. We had a foot of snow here in Woburn about 6 hours along with cloud-to-ground lightning during the height of the storm early in the afternoon that Thursday.

It was one of the only times I remember being able to lean into the wind nearly 45 degrees tilted and not fall over.

      1. Got back a few days ago from my trip to Europe Joshua. Oh my God, I can’t wait to go back. Stops in Ghent, Breda, Dorsten, DΓΌsseldorf & ended in Amsterdam.

        Experience of a lifetime.

Really windy and cold first few days.

  7. That was one wild Bruins game and it had all the feeling of a playoff game. First place!

        1. Long season ahead for the Sox. They will please us often. Disappointing start but I have faith.

  8. New post! Only changes today were to prolong the clouds/showers into evening thanks to a kink on the front and a few minor tweaks beyond.
