  1. A Flood Watch is in effect for most of SNE except for Cape Cod and western MA!

I would say that urban flooding is a sure bet, but what about rivers and streams?

  2. Autumnal equinox early tomorrow morning. It always fascinates me that while Sept 23rd and March 20th are equitable in terms of length of sunlight and sun altitude in the sky, tomorrow will have dewpoints near 70F and six months from now, it could well be snowing or in the 30s or lower for highs next March 20th.

  3. These overnight low temps are probably going to cause overall Sept temps to be above normal for the month, especially if there are a few more to come.

    Happy Friday all.

  4. I have already notices certain tree’s in my area changing color. Of course most are still green but there is a bit of color around.

  5. Coastal I see a few changing here too. I’m curious to see if my son notices a difference when in the Berkshires this weekend.

Tom I hope your camping trip has not had to be postponed but seem to remember you said it was by a lake and rain made things quite uncomfortable.

TK – I was having computer problems and Verizon reset everything which gave me a new IP address. Not sure if WordPress recognizes IP or email so this may end up in moderation. Sorry if it does.

    1. Hi Vicki.

Yes, we cancelled and while I dont like it, I am somewhat relieved to see the rain because now I feel like it was worth cancelling.

  6. JFYI more than anything else…Henry Margusity will be attending the Excellence in Journalism Conference in New Orleans. His blog will return next Thursday.

I hope we can all hang in there until then…LOL. 😉

  7. Happy Fall everyone. It certainly does not feel like fall out there.
Thunderstorm Index just at a 1 since I don’t expect any severe weather should thunderstorms develop.

  8. Happy fall from me, too. Leaves are beginning to change around here too, but not a lot. It seems like the colors are running a little late this year, ‘though I could be wrong.

Vicki – glad your computer problems are being solved. I am still on my husband’s laptop. I am looking into a new computer next wk. but we will see.

Hope everyone enjoys the wknd. No big plans here – maybe visiting some friends, we’ll see.

    1. Hi Rainshine. It’s always nice when Verizon actually works with you to solve the problem. I found a great tech person who immediately recognized the problem was on their end. Normally they spend the first half hour trying to tell me it’s on my computer – even it it’s happening on every computer or device that accesses the Internet in the house.

I’m sorry you are still having problems. Do you need a full size computer? If not, have you thought about an iPad?

      1. Vicki, I need a full-sized computer. Besides the fact that a full-sized is usually cheaper, I also write a lot. I don’t think I told anyone here yet, but I am a writer. OK -kind of a writer! Never got anything published as yet. Have taken writing classes and have written some stuff – mainly fiction. I like science-fiction but right now I am working on a fictional story set in Medieval England. So a bigger computer seems more logical to me.

        1. RS, maybe you could write a fictional story about the bloggers here. Some type of murder mystery revolving around a blizzard or a hurricane. LOL!

          1. Hi, Coastal – I don’t think so! LOL! But I have considered in the past writing a story about sci-fi stories re: weather. But there are so many out there, you know, disaster movies and such. I started one a year or so ago and occasionally go back to it but I’m not saying anything about it – just that it does have to do w/the weather.

I will let everyone know when it gets published! 🙂

        2. Wow. I’ve always wanted to write. My son in law wants to write screen plays. I’d love to read some of your work. That’s very exciting

  9. The sun is doing a nice job of breaking through on the south shore the last hour and the temps are responding high with tropical humidity. Amazing that the jet stream is so far north, well up in central Canada and that a cut off low to our west is drawing high humidities onto the whole east coast. So much for the official astronomical start to autumn.

I am suspicious of the cool shots that the 0z GFS shows for the long range. I remember about 10 days to 2 weeks ago, it projected cold 850mb temps with some light precip over the area for Sept 26th and now in actuality, Monday the 26th is going to be 75F to 80F with moderate to high humidity.

My wife and I are debating which local beach to go to tomorrow. I’d go today, by my older daughter has a friend’s mid afternoon b-day party to attend. Maybe will try for some mini golf.

Happy continuation to summer all and have a good day !!

    1. You have a good day as well Tom. Sorry you had to postpone your trip. My wife said it poured out last night. I must of slept good because I did not hear it. Also broke down last night and turned the a/c back on, had to as the house was so humid.

    2. My youngest her husband and their son just took a drive down to Humarock. I am working today on a phone conference and broke down and turned the AC on in the room where my computer is. I heard the other ACs in the house go on right afterwards 🙂 It’s just too humid. The tile on the porch floor is well beyond a thin layer of moisture from the combination of the air and the earth beneath and is now puddling. It’s really disgusting. I am not a humidity fan and try not to complain about any weather but ugh!!!

      1. From the sounds of it we may be humid for awhile, I love summer but really pools are closed and not to many people flocking to the beaches, some though do. I do miss the cool nights, even the mornings. It was refreshing going to work in the morning.
