September Swoon

9:32PM

Yes, we all know the Red Sox have been in their own September swoon, but the weather is about to do the same, as a trough that has been hanging back to the west of us, far enough to allow mostly fair weather the past few days, finally moves eastward and brings showers into the region. Most of these will occur on Thursday. Behind this system, drier air will move in Friday, though there still may be a few showers due to unstable air. Much cooler air is expected over the weekend for the first couple days of October, but the sky will not be cloudless, as cold air aloft will promote cloud development each day. Looking ahead, we remain in a warmer than normal regime overall, so despite the weekend cool shot, it looks like a rapid warm-up takes place early next week.

  1. For my model-watching readers. I think the Euro is out to lunch on its 12z run. Too much trough, lingering too long, and too much cool air next week. 12z GFS is ok. 18z GFS is a bit out of control. Scott brought this up and I agree.

  2. TK or anyone here, are the showers tomorrow going to be throughout the day or mostly am or pm? I’m interested in Southwick where husband and son are headed to golf. They are thinking of postponing again but I was hoping someone is here this morning to help!!

TK it was great weather for my husband’s tournament yesterday – thank you :)) I’ll give you all the credit!! My husband only wishes his game which is said was terrible had been as nice as the weather.

  3. Thanks TK for the rain forecast earlier. No jacket or umbrella with me which is unreal given northern europe climate in late sept early October.

  4. Will see what happens because indications are after this brief shot of cool air coming for the weekend were heading once again for above normal temperatures.
Thunderstorm Index just at a 1 tomorrow since I don’t expect severe weather.

    1. wow what a great place to sit at night, watch TV, have a drink, and especially watch storms – nice job Coastal

      1. TK: we can host a blog party anytime!!!
Vicki: you are correct. Its a great room to take the kids out there during a stormy day. Beats being stuck in the house and the kids love it.

My wife and I wanted more room just to entertain. So instead of paying for an addition, I convinced her to save some money on this. Our back yard is next to conservation land with a verbal pool within 100′. Lots of wild life.

        1. We have a screened porch, Coastal, and put glass in for the winter although it’s not heated. I grew up with porches and it was the first thing we added on to our house. We have had years and years of enjoyment and it never gets old.

How do you keep the TV from getting moisture? Our porch is off the master bedroom with a slider so we can just turn the TV to view from the porch but I’d love one on the porch.

          1. I have glass windows that I will install in November. The TV is located above the door so it does not get wet from rain. Though I have no way to protect it from the moisture in the air on those humid days. In the winter I wait to turn on the TV until the screen house is warmed up a bit. I built it last summer and I have had no problems with it though its only a small sampling.
